What brand of polymer clay do you use/what is your favourite?
I mainly use Sculpey, Fimo and Premo, just because that is what is available to me. I don’t really have a particular favourite; they all have different things I like about each one.
What do you use to glaze your charms?
I currently use UV resin. You can check out my video on how I glaze my charms here- • How I Glaze My Polymer...
I’ve also used Sculpey Gloss Glaze, Triple Thick, and polyurethane in the past, but UV resin Is definitely my favourite.
How long have you been doing clay?
I started polymer clay in 2012. It is just my hobby that I do in my spare time as I also have a full-time job :)
Do you sell your charms?
Yes, the link to my shop is in every video description. I usually post a shop update video to announce when I am having a large restock and charms will be available. Otherwise, I recommend following me on Instagram (@rachyh96) to keep up with any other news!
What cupcake base mold do you use?
I use the 14mm mold from MiniatureSweet which you can find here: goo.gl/fcNWjW

Here’s a little tip I learned! I use the Deep Cut blade and use the thickest poster board setting, and have the pressure as more, and it cuts right through the plastic without much weeding or tears.
I have thinner plastic apparently, it cut just fine on the standard setting with a fine point blade for me. I did consider using my deep cut blade though
To me it seems like no cricut cut is equal when it comes to material.
What a fun idea! Just a hint: Instead of cutting each color one at a time, you can move each image to the first sheet and place all the vinyl colors on the first sheet, then cut all at once. It saves a lot of time.
Good tip!
I came here for this comment!
How is that done? (Currently still trying to learn the ways of the Cricut😅)
And since she is using an ipad, she could have just used snap mat to save even more time.
@@jasminenotjessica7 When you go to cut the project, click on one of the images and it gives you three little dots. Click on "move object" and move it to the mat you want.
I’m so glad to see this. I did something similar using the shrinkable material for inkjet printers.
Shrinky Dinks Creative Pack 6 Sheets for Ink Jet printers from Amazon. Created what I wanted in design space, changed it to print and cut, loaded the film in my printer using the regular ink, printed it out then took it to my Cricut and cut it out. Then baked according to the instructions. I did let cricut cut the hole for the jump ring. The colors were great. I tried to post a picture but couldn’t.
Do you have a Facebook or Instagram where I could see your project please? It's sounds awesome
These are simply adorable! I have a granddaughter who loves tiny things....I can see me making a ton of these for her upcoming 7th birthday! She likes watching the shrinky-dinks shrink in the toaster oven, and sharing the finished products with her friends! Thanks for this terrific tutorial!
Wow, I'm amazed how you got the exact size of vinyl to fit on the plastic. Love it!
I was thinking the same thing
@@akilahbobb2383 here I was thinking the same thing... How did she know the size after it shrunk.
She mentioned she measures the plastic after it shrunk then resized the images in design space so they would cut out at the right size. Still seems like a bit of work and with my luck my measurements would be off 😂 lol
@@moraj7 For real, it takes some patience and brains to to do all this!
I was thinking the same thing. I dunno how I would ever get the measurements right lol
I would have sworn this was acrylic Keychain blanks, it's so cute
I thought the same thing. 😍😍😍
I've only had my Maker for a few months, but from other videos and noticed you have an iPad, you could do the Snap Mat feature which would enable you to put all your vinyl pieces all on one matt. Thought I'd share that because I felt it helped me. Thank you!
You can also do thus without snap mat. I just did it today with multiple color names.
These look so cute (and also a ton of work omg, props to you)!!
Ahh! I love this project! I never thought to make shrink charms with my Cricut Maker. Thanks for the great idea!
I love this! I’ve been trying to figure out how to make my acrylic charms look real, love this method!
Such an awesome video! I enjoyed every moment of it.
TRULY CUTE
&
I love the sound when the charms fell.😊
Yeah! A new video! Love your work and Australian accent! Hugs from good ol USA!!!
Thank you!
Oh my god. I've had my Maker for 2 years and I didn't know the front panel had a compartment. LOL
This is my favorite comment lol!
😅😅😅
I was coming to say the exact same thing! 🤣 the more ya know! 🌈
😂
Another tip, you can seal your charms using resin. It provides a clear, glossy, protective finish, similar to what glass do
Can you recommend the right kind of resin for this application?
This is an absolutely brilliant and adorable idea. I can’t believe I don’t think of these things. Thank you for the inspiration.
OMG so amazingly cute! I’ve always loved your work!
Brilliant idea!!! I wonder if a layer of clear uv topcoat over the vinyl side would be a good idea. It might help seal them and prevent the vinyl from getting damaged or peeling up at the small parts if you used them on a keyring. I love these. I need to order some shrinky dink plastic!
Yes! That would work awesome! Just watch out for those sharp corners where it could spill
These are soooo cute!!!
Thank you! :)
had my cricut maker for 2 years and just realize I have a compartment LOL. Wow nice video !
Super cute charms!
The cricut maker is so expensive, I have the cricut air 2, and it doesn't cut right, the cuts either don't line up properly or don't touch at all...and there's no way to "calibrate" it....you'd think since the machines cost hundreds of dollars they would actually work....but, unfortunately that's not the case.
Just wanted to double check, is there a reason you can't calibrate it? 🤔
There is a way to calibrate. It's in design space. Tutorials are on youtube.
I have calibrated mine before and it didn’t work, so I had to repeat the calibration a couple of times.
I’ve had my circuit air 2 since it was released and I’ve never had any issues with it. Maybe you got a bad one. You should contact cricut I’m sure they will fix the problem
This video was great! Made specific charms I needed but couldn't find anywhere else with the help of this video! Thank you!
Oh wow! Congrats on the Cricut 👏👏 That's so awesome that you were gifted that😍 The charms are adorable ❤️
Thank you!
You’ve made me want a Cricut even more 😍🙌🏼
Me too lol
😍 How CUTE!! Imma have to try this.
These are adorable! I really wouldn't have thought to do this. I'm going to give this a try!
Loved your video! Subscribed, I love seeing fellow Aussie’s crafting.
Amazing . Those looked awesome. Your kids must learn alot from you .
Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing! They look great!
You are just amazingly talented! These are SO cute! Tyvm for this.
So cute 😍💓
That's really cool!!! Time to break out my Maker. I'm sure my daughter has watched this video already and will be looking to give it a go. Right Ferret?
Can you please show how to size it down?? So cute!!
Love using the vinyl instead of printing the image onto the plastic!
I love love love them!! I want to make these!!! I don’t know how to cut all the vinyl layers separately!!! Wahhhhh
Omg these were the cutest little cuties! I've gotten too old for these tiny little things! But what pleasure to watch you do it! I started polymer clay because of you! I wasn't as talented but I made a pair of lemon earrings that I still adore! They Still make me smile when I see them! You touch so many more lives and hearts than you will ever know! Only a small fraction of us are loud mouths that just gotta say we love you! Most I'm sure love you in heart and mind and go about thier way. Just know your work here is very cherished! Your mama must be so proud!!!! 💖💖💖
Short cut, all the small cut pieces of vinyl can go on the same mat. instead of loading and unloading each color, align them how you want on one mat with the colors that need to be. easiest way i've done multiple colors.
Suer cute! I hope getting this all done and working with Design Space wasn't as super frustrating for you as I find it! (:
You are so smart and patient Miss Rachy! 🥰 i hope to try this soon! But i think i will have to use print and cut stickers bc i just KNOW i would not be able to layer vinyl anywhere NEAR as perfectly! 😅
I looove the charms and I love your nails!
So excited to do this. Just got my cricut maker! 🤗🤗🤗
Wow, I had no idea that this machine existed, I've always wanted to make my own charms, this looks really cool.
Thank goodness I live in Australia. ❤️😯☺️
Ok these are waaaaaay adorbs!!
Thank you!
My mum has a cricut but she has the small one she makes things for other people with it. She has a website on Facebook where you can purchase some of the things we make if you live in Victoria.
That is so cool! What kind of things does your mum make?
@@creativerachy she makes labels for chopping boards, cups she recently made mugs for Mother’s Day. She makes other labels for other objects and cutlery and all that. She customises stubbie holders for people that request them. She also uses special material to make clothes. We really enjoy making them.
OMG this are super cute. Such a great idea. Thank you!! ❤️
A small tip ,instead of using a hole punch get a leather punch it has several hole sizes and when you punch the plastic it doesn’t crack like it would with the hole punch.
I'd recommend you have a look into the settings for the cuts! If you go to edit the cutting profiles, you can see the kind of pressure and amount of cuts for each option - that way you can work out how much pressure you'd need, as well as cuts, to make your own custom cutting profile for shrink plastic! No casualties needed :)
I actually tried that because I found the right pressure and cuts online for shrink plastic, but the app wouldn’t save my custom settings 🤷♀️
@@creativerachy ahhh as I was typing I was wondering if it might be because it's on the app and not the pc program? Very frustrating though, it saves a lot of time in the long run so hopefully they fix it :(
They all turned out so cute!
I would recommend printable vinyl to eliminate all the layering of vinyl
Love these charms!! I can think of a couple dozen uses for them!! Thank you very much for the excellent tutorial!!! Saved it to watch when I create some.
🌻🌸🌹🌼🏵🌷🌺💐💖
How well do these hold up? If they're on a zip pouch that goes in and out of a backpack a lot would they start peeling? These are so cute though!
absolutely adorable and very unique
AHHH THEYRE SO CUTE!
this is adorable! i love all of the things you make 🤍
quick question... what brand of shrink plastic did you use?
I have the same question, hopefully, I can find it in the comments lol
This looks like so much fun! And it would save the life of my pencils. (I've been colouring my shrink plastic charms by hand before I shrink them)
These are cute!! There is no way I would have been able to resize the vinyl and get it right. 🥴 lol Great job, they look awesome!!
I was thinking the same thing!
Yeah, she makes it look so easy! I'd have gone through 19 resizes, not to mention misaligned applications onto the plastic.
I would love to see the settings she used to resized the vinyl, there is no way just by measuring the shrink plastic to get the right size🤔
So cute! I love this! I will probably make this with my Cricut! Thanks for the idea and video! 💗
Super super cute! Cute nails as well.
I have a little request... Please try MUSIC COMPLICATION someday...
What’s that
So beautiful
Thank you!
This is so cute
Thank you!
great job I apreciate it 💎
although you could use DTF printer for drawings
Super cute!!!!! Well done.
Omg soooooooo cuteeee!
Thanks for the tutorial! What brand of shrink plastic do you use ? Mine doesn’t stay that clear after I bake it...
This is really cute! Love it!
These are so adorable
Wow that's amazing! 😄😊
Thanks! 😄
If you make them bigger initially will they shrink less? Or do they always shrink to the same size?
So adorable 💕Didn’t know it could do these
I'm still new to Circut but when I get the hang of it I wanna try this out
Ooooh I want one! Thank you for the video, a must-try when I get one. Very cutie 🥧
These are so cute 😍 great video x
this just reminds me of like 2012 it’s so simple
Question: How did you nailed so perfectly the size of the vinyl you needed for each charm after they shrink?
Can you make more videos with the cricut because I have one
They are 🥰 adorable
Those are so cute!
I like the size of them. Also you an use some uv resin to dome the top of them oh my I have an older cricuit the explore air hope I can do this
I’m so excited to give this a try 🥰
These are so adorable 🥰 thanks for sharing
Serious question. What is the purpose of using shrink plastic? Why not use a plastic or acrylic and cut the small size that you want.? Is there some benefit to the shrink plastic?
Your question made me realize I can use wood or any other suitable material, cut it to size, apply the vinyl for the image and seal it. No shrink plastic needed, thank you!!
The design space app is great... when it functions. Been so trippy on iOS recently. Love it with my little cricut joy though...
Oh really?! Luckily, mine has been okay so far if that's the case :)
That really bites...I didn't realize how much I loved the cricut app on iOS until I went back to android. There are a lot of features that just aren't available on the android version and I find I have to go through multiple extra steps, to do the same thing I normally would have om my iPhone. Every time I use the app I kick myself for going back to android lol
A beginner question - why shrink the plastic and not leave the cut outs in the size they were printed?
Wow amazing job. Tedious but amazing💙❤
I really like them, I need to give it a try
Wow so cool I'm still hoping i could get my hands on either Cricut or Silhouette. I'm too broke to get one. For now I'll just watch videos about it. And idk if it'll affect vinyl but would it be possible to put a layer of resin so the cute designs will be sealed?
how do you get the vinyl the size of the charms?
What size did you originally make the designs on cricut space?
Such a fantastic tutorial Rach ✨. I’d like to know how durable the vinyl is and would it benefit from a layer of resin or sealant to keep it in tact for longer?
You can put resin over the top of vinyl :)
@@HannahsWorld92 Thanks Hannah :)
Loved this, I have the cricut maker now too and would love if you did more cricut videos
What brand of shrink plastic are you using? Thanks!
hi! sorry if I'm being stupid here, but I've been looking at a bunch of cricut machine comparisons and have been under the impression that a big difference between the maker and maker 3 is that the maker doesn't allow you to use smart materials. isn't that what you're using here though for the vinyl? or am I confused? 😂
SOOOO ADORBALE
Thank you!
Adorable !!!
These are so cute 🥰
How did you size the vinyl so it fit the shrunk plastic
Perfectly.
I measured the plastic with a ruler
Where are these designs on DS? I looked under "Create a Critter" and got nothing...that is a lot of work, you must have a lot of patience!
CUTEEEEE!!!
love these! what brand of shrink plastic do you use? I can't seem to find this perfectly clear stuff, only the frosted ones!
