A small TIP for everyone making these. When painting the pins, I like to stick some blu-tac or sth like that on the bottom side of the pin and stick a chopstick there to make it easier for me to hold it and work.

Oh wow! 🧚🏼♀️ 🌸 🌺It’s so cool to see how you began pin making with basic shapes like eggs and baguettes (yes I remember :) ) and have progressed to the point at which you can turn elements of your illustrations and style like the shopping bag, sandwiches and kitties into clay pins! 🤧 we love to see it 💖💖💖
Each of your ceramic pieces is a work of heart, and it shows! 💖 The way you handle the clay is poetry in motion. 💃🏻 Your videos are not just tutorials; they're a journey into the world of clay art. 🌐 Keep enchanting us with your creations! 🌟
Tip! You can use cardboard shapes you make of what you want the pin to come out as and cut around that for your shapes ❤ Make sure to use thin cardboard otherwise it can prove tricky to cut out complex shapes without rough edges for your tracing
This is exactly how I do my pins! It took so much trial and error but cutting out the circles to create consistency helps so much 😂 I used to overwork my clay so much because I kept trying to make them match with uneven amounts of clay!
A great video. For anyone else who doesnt have handy long nails to hold the charms with, I like to put a little stick on the back of them with some sticky tack, that lets you hold them easy. Also I think if you have issues with the clay burning, someone told me you can lower the temp and increase the time. Or cover them in tin foil? I never tried though
You should consider using "Create a Cake Shapeable Cake Pan" or tea light to make your own cookie cutters. They're aluminum/tin sheets that keep their shape while cutting clay, but soft enough to reform to the shape you want. Just use one of your favorite shaped pins, form the tin around it, then use that to cut more pins! It should make things go a little faster. :)
Try putting your paintbrush in acetone or nail polish remover right after you use it for the resin. If you don’t do it right after then the resin can harden the bristles together. Hope this helps.
Great content. I'm a polymer clay sculptor and while, I don't make pins, this is great info for those who do (or want to try it). Start to finish, well explained!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! This was incredibly helpful-I SO appreciate that you mentioned what materials & brands you used in making these, as well as including your methods of using & applying them! Now I’m excited to try making some of my own someday! Thank you again! :D
Super helpful! Thanks so much for sharing your process and supplies you use with us. It's not a given that an artist does that and I just want to say I'm not taking it for granted! This video was so relaxing and motivating at the same time. I'm finally going to try this out myself this weekend!
Girl, I love your videos they’re such a breath of fresh air 🤍 I can never get enough, would you be able to do something like a everyday makeup/grwm type video, your old ones from back In like 2018 were literally my comfort videos, I’d watch them sometimes like 4 times a week, your voice was so soothing, and were both around the same skin color so I loved to see what you were using ❤️love you
There are some silicone brushes/sticks with a large face that you can use to paint with the UV resin and then u cure the residual resin and peel it and they are good as new!
Hi Paloma! I’m a nail tech and I’m wondering if using the magnetic tip holders with poster putty might help you while painting. The way we make press ons. Love your work!!
i have used acetone (not just nail polish remover),, and i've had good results getting it off my brush. Also, I just saw someone use foil to cover their brush. that way it doesn't harden. these look awesome btw! I'm going to borrow your cut up cork idea. it's brilliant.
Thank you so much for this video! I have been a lil depressed and no inspiration and I think this will be a perfect project to try making some pins for my friends to snap myself out of it. Thank you for sharing your methods. The frog and the mushrooms are my favorites 🍄 🐸 Also love Archie in your windowsill!
LOVED this video Paloma! Also thank you so much for sharing how you make your backing cards! I’d never seen the washi tape trick before, how lovely!! 🍄🐸🍰
for applying the uv resin, you might be able to use the silicon tip that’s on your clay tool because when the resin cures on the silicon you can crack it off, i’ve never tried this before so i don’t know if it works but i thought it might be worth a shot
You can actually purchase pin backings that have the pin bar closure. And are slightly bigger to hold the weight of your hand crafts. Also what about glazing them to help seal the paint. Just a few tips.. I've been making jewelry for 30 years. Your designs are adorable. Keep up the nice work🥰
I've not tried this with UV resin yet but when I glaze my pins with varnish I usually just squeeze som on top of the pin and blow on top of it to spread the varnish all over the pin. it works as a good alternative for a brush
I see you have nail extensions, if you're worried about dust from sanding, I might suggest a nail dust collector. Keeps the dust out of your lungs, and makes clean up v easy :)
Acetone works well for cleaning UV resin from the brush! Use 100% acetone instead of nail polish remover to avoid extra ingredients like vitamin E and aloe vera. Acetone works well for cleaning up the clay and removing bumps or bubbles after baking it too!
@palomathepeach hope you were able to find silicone brushes. I use them for epoxy, reg and uv, and it’s the best solution! You don’t throw away a tool every time you craft!
You should definitely buy shaped cutters! if you can't find one then you can 3d print one (have someone design it and print it on etsy or sumn) it'll make your life a lot easier
I was watching you paint your pins and I couldn't stop thinking that maybe it would be easier if you painted the sides first and then the front 😂 idk I think it would make it easier to hold them. Loved the video ❤️
Thanks for the video! -- This is awesome. -- I didn't even know some of these things existed -- but even aside from that, thanks for sharing your techniques. 🙂❤ RE: "Brush in alcohol not working, and it's still getting hard." 1. What strength are you using? -- There's a huge difference between like the 50% stuff you get off the shelf and the 99% stuff you can buy online. 2. Have you tried acetone? -- I feel like if 99% alcohol isn't working then this might. -- A lot of nail polish removers have acetone in them. RE: "They come out a little bit tacky" Yes, with UV resin you really need to clean them off afterwards with alcohol (again 99% is best), but it will immediately remove the tackiness.
this just looks soo fun to do😭 i really enjoy watching this kinds of videos... i wanna try to do this someday😫 and u make it kinda easy to do,u are soo talented!!!!i wish u the best!:)♡❤
@@palomathepeach You could design some blank ones tho (not dated)! So people can buy them anytime, might be easier to not have any leftovers also if you end up not selling some! (just an idea!)
Great way you can make your own cookie cutters is to cut a pop can into even strips then shaping them with pliers so you can make the same design pin over and over
Thank you so much for sharing your process. As one good turn deserves another, I may have a suggestion re your application of resin. You can buy a set of empty black nail varnish bottles on Amazon and decant into one. I use them for everything including liquid clay. 😻
If you’re gonna suggest folks up resin, you gotta talk abt using it safely. Like, you should be using it with a respirator with windows wide open. It’s such a dangerous product to use and wish more crafters acknowledged that. Otherwise helpful tutorial!,

A silicone brush does wonders for applying the UV resin. After the resin hardens you simply peel it off of the brush

To apply UV rain I would recommend using silicone brushes that way you can just slip the dried resin off the brush and keep reusing the brush
these are so adorable! so impressed u do all this by hand 🥺
the pins r so cuteee ✨✨

Beautiful work. Little advice about alcohol- use Isopropyl alcohol. It will dilute resin and later wash brushes with soap and warm water.
your voice is so relaxing
Dude you are so talented, thank you for posting this!
Love the video. I tried to explain my process in a video, and I could not. Your video is so informative, and I def. know the uv resin struggles :)
How long does it take for you to create a batch of pins? Like the sculpting, oven time, painting, glazing, and drying?
this was a small batch for me and it was about 4 days, bigger batches can take up to two weeks

Yes, with UV resin you really need to clean them off afterwards with alcohol (again 99% is best), but it will immediately remove the tackiness.

I have the same issues with resin. I’m running out of old brushes to use for my resining process 😩 I hate that I have to throw them all away
I recommend to not use brush to smooth the resin into the pins maybe take a stick to smooth it all out
this just looks soo fun to do😭
