One of the most honest and genuine studio tours I've ever seen. No flexing or bragging just a genuine tour. Carl is so humble he couldn't even brag about having the 1 million subscriber button.

I started up again almost 3 years ago now but I'm in the same boat my guy. If you haven't you should join his Academy. I'm not sponsored to promote Carl or anything like that. You know what the best part of this guy is? He doesn’t have a “personality” or sell out for memes. No disrespect to music is win, or other RUclips guitarist but they try so hard to pander to an audience. Carl is genuine.
Carl, this was such a great video. I really enjoyed getting to know more about your personal side, the guitar stories, Chaplin, and your granddad. I’ve been in a slump lately and this was good inspiration for me. I share a few things in common with you and your granddad. I’m a retired Army Brigadier General. I noticed the PH plate in your blues workshop and was curious about it. I’m also now an artist full time. That Pepsi painting has a great story. I love dogs. I’m very familiar with Greensboro. I graduated from UNCG. During a break before going back into the Army I graduated the Greensboro PD police academy and field training. Then I had to go to my Army officer basic course and ended up staying on active duty. Anyway, thanks for this great tour and insights. I’m proud to have you as a guitar teacher. The fact you love your dog so much you have gone up ten fold in my opinion!! We have 2 Jack russels who are our life now all the kids have left home, thankfully!! I also play piano, uke and 5 string banjo. My parents brought me a guitar when I was 11 in 1977 when Mull of Kintyre was in the charts. Should of stuck at it really but I come and go with guitar where as I play the piano constantly. Love your channel and style of teaching brother and thank you so much. Steve from the UK.

Started watching Carl as a kid when I first started playing guitar. Back then I think he had maybe 50k subs. Fast forward about 9 years and he’s well on his way to 1.5M subs. So well deserved. Can honestly say he taught me nearly every song I learned for the first 5 years I played. And I still come to this channel when I get stuck on something. Happy to see all your success, Carl. Thanks for being a big part of making me the player I’ve become!

dude! super cool man thanks for that look into your world! i was close to my grandfolks too, my grand dad was a minor league ballplayer on the birmingham barons, and he ended up taking up golf later in life and won all kinds of trophies, great guy

Hej Carl... great to see behind the scenes. Love your lessons but even more-so, I love that you obviously love your dogs. The best part of the video for me was you talking about your dogs - also the one where you have a picture of the pooch who lives with the ex', plus you tracked down the Strat' with the chew marks and bought it back - that's priceless! When I am looking for a lesson, I tend to gravitate to your channel and one or two others but now I have even more respect after seeing this behind the scenes video. Keep up the great work and give the pooch a big hug from me! 🙂

You know watching this video has made me think long and hard about how indebted I am to this man. I can’t even count the plethora of songs that I have learned from Carl. His lessons have been an invaluable resource for me. I have played in cover bands for over 20 years and Carl has always been my go to resource for learning a song. I don’t ever go on Patreon but I feel like subscribing to his Patreon just because of all the free tutorials he has provided me. God bless you bro.
Holy cow....I was born in Wesley Long Community hospital and grew up in Greensboro. Lived off High Point Rd. Went to Guilford Middle School and Jamestown Middle School before we moved to the Outer Banks (Roanoke Island) In fact I was there for the Iron Maiden concert this past October at the Greensboro Coliseum.. Small world. Now I'm stuck in Texas trying to get back to NC.

I am commenting from Niagara falls, Ontario. The thing I love about your channel is that what gear you have is modest. You are a great teacher and guitarist. You are one of these guys on RUclips that are loaded with cash and own every super expensive guitar and a plethora of a dozen amps. Like Rhett Schull. You don't need an 8 grand guitar to sound great. All these other guys are just trying to put on a show of how wealthy they are. So keep videos coming. You are a great talent.
And keep in mind Rhett Shull is still the most humble person after Carl compared to Musiciswin Tyler :D
