I have a 2014 Volvo XC60 with 100k and I had traded my 2007 highlander which was also a great car with some flaws that Toyota has not addressed yet. Up to now, my Volvo has bee flawless and looks better than yours. Here is why I did not buy the Highlander: 1) Seat comfort for long drives are terrible. Volvo seats are like first class seat in Qatar Airline compared to Toyota which is like United Airlines first class seat. 2) Volvo has a much better handling, really solid and tight and rides as good as new. 3) No rust at all. My brother has a 2013 Highlander and due to snow, salt and other elements, you can see rusts. Believe or not, I just change oil every 8k miles, tires, one transmission fluid change at 60K ( even though dealer said the transmission oil is life time), one battery and that's it. Nothing else was done to the 2014 Volvo 3.2 engine. By the way, this car is so safe and feels so solid, it will not shake like my old Highlander on a really windy day.
We’ve been in the market for a Highlander and stumbled across your brutally honest review. Thank you! I thought some of the scenes in your video intro looked really familiar. Then I saw your nav screen showing your location at Pittsburgh Airport. I live 10 minutes from there.😂
Review spot on. Glad to hear your Highlander has been largely trouble free -- I just bought 2021 Limited V6. So far so good. And yup the key fob is low rent. Anyway nice views of Catskills! Covered Bridge looks like one outside Livingston Manor NY.
If you have the hvac on auto it’ll take the ac off and put it on. You had it on auto in the video so I’m just thinking that could be it. Fob battery is dying if it has a lag in it. I agree with the power seats for the passenger. It sucks not having it. And the key fob looking ugly I agree.

I already when to the shop to check the breaks but they didn’t fine any problem. Tnx for the video specially when you mention about your rear breaks problem.
Thanks for the great overview! You mentioned that you change the oil every 10,000 miles, but I believe in 2015, Toyota's recommended interval was 5,000 miles. Do you have to add any oil between changes?
Thanks for checking. I am not aware of 5k oil change. With synthetic oil it runs 10k anyway. So far the oil level holds. 130k and never had to add oil in between. ✌️
Only minor issue is brakes wear faster than most cars, probably due to the vehicle size vs rotor size. At least the rotors typically can be turned one time, unlike new GM/Ford etc..... It used to be normal but apparently the rotors on new american cars are coming at min spec.
@@whenopportunitycomes8718 I upgraded the front brake system to 4 piston calipers and 2 piece rotors on my 2016 XLE. Braking performance is significantly improved. The system is a AP Racing copycat from China, but no issues at all.

Still same. I change oil every 10k and around 8k the fuel economy drops a bit. Work commute average is 18 and highway is 24. I have got highest 370 miles out of a full tank.
Salaam Abukhalil. Yes... basically you need to keep all those brake caliper guide pins or sliding pins very clean. If they are rusty - get new pins. Use proper grease for lubrication. Also - do not over tighten the bolts. This should give you good results. I am not a mechanic but this procedure took care of the vibration for me.
Yes. I drained it around 85k miles. Refilled and waited till the correct temp is reached. It basically used 2 bottles of the original designated Toyota fluid. There are already some RUclips videos. I followed the process.
