    This is why you can't compare the stats of players from different eras. Carmichael probably would've made 100 receptions every season in today's NFL. However, we look at the numbers he actually put up and think, "well, he wasn't that good."

    I think he should be a HOF'er... stats may not be there Like receivers today, but he's like Mike Vick. Both Vick and Carmichael don't have daunting jump off the page stats. Both players are game changers. Vick was the leader of the new DT QB. (Dual Threat Qb) Carmichael showed how dominant size can be for a receiver. Look at Megatron and the career he had at 6'6". Then Brandon Marshal and Mike Evans each about 6'5" a piece. I think certain players should go to the HOF because of their impact and how they change the game, not always because of stats and rings.

    • @boletus2001
      @boletus2001 6 лет назад +3

      That is the thing though, when he retired he DID have jump off the page stats. Don't let the modern age of the inflated passing game take away what he did. He does belong in the Hall of Fame. I actually had a friend of mine who doesn't follow football as much as I do ask me why I thought Joe Montana was so great since he looked up his stats and saw he "only" threw for 40,000 career yards. These days mediocre QB's like Philip Rivers are gonna hit 60,000 by the time their careers are over.

    I remember seeing him as a young teen at the Vet...We used to sneak in all the time...I remember seeing him on one knee on the side line and all the support staff were shorter them him...He had great hands and made some real tough grabs...Nice to see him getting props...Nice to see how well NFL films has done for itself too...I've been watching you guys since the Facenda Days...That's when football was beautiful...J. Facenda and nfl films, put football on the map.

    Another guy that the HOF has totally disregarded & ignored along with Randy Gradishar, Ken Anderson, Cliff Harris, Cliff Branch, Donnie Shell, Ken Riley, Drew Pearson ..... at 6'8", Harold Carmichael was virtually unstoppable !!!!! I might've grown up a Cowboy fan (HATE THEM NOW !!!!!!!) but there's no question Harold Carmichael is a HOFer !!!!! Should've been inducted a long time ago .....

    I'm in Canada and I started following the NFL in 1979 when Harold was part of awesome Eagles team. I was a backup receiver on the Senior football team in high school. My teammates and I would often talk about players in either the CFL and NFL we would like model ourselves after. They laughed when I revealed my choice0 as Harold Carmichael because everyone knew about his height advantage while I stood at 5 Ft-6 IN! Great story here. Thanks for posting.
