      Think about Tommy Maddox. His career at one point seemed well and buried to the point I think it was ESPN was coming out to do their equivalent of a 30 for 30 back at that time. That one year, in the grand scheme of things for that team, probably didn't mean anything. But for him that one year was enough to prove to himself he was good enough. A lot of players will never get that style of closure, and even more never got the shot this player did.

The Steelers were never- ever on local tv so I naturally became a Seahawks fan. Now my best friend has season tickets and the Hawks were just starting to get players that I could relate to. Ken Easley and that pack of wild dogs that played D. I gotta tell you -- That was special. Many years have passed yet I still remember those days. +DWardington You are half right - I did look at the wrong stat about SF, but San Diego was not in the NFL in 1961, they were in the AFL. So technically the Seahawks have the best takeaway season ever for an NFL superbowl era team.

    Kenny Easley was a monster on this team. He caught the NFL record setting pick six. He also just got inducted into the Football Hall of Fame. The Seahawks have historically always had a phenomenal defense with several players in the Hall of Fame with more to come you can pretty much bank on that. Damn near the entire Seahawks defense now will end up in the Hall of Fame. You people who keep calling Seahawks fans bandwagon fans since 2012 are delusional at best. Seahawks, SuperSonics and the Mariners have been a HUGE DEAL in Seattle and basically the entire Northwestern part of North American for DECADES. The Seahawks was in the Super Bowl in 2005 with a phenomenal running back so it's not like the Seahawks were only good in 2012 and onward. You haters are going to be miserable for a long time because the Seahawks are set with a great team, quarterback, coach, city and fans. Now Seattle is a destination which wasn't always the case in the past. Now Seattle is one of the larger markets in the NFL because of the extreme growth of the city over the past 20 years or so. Seattle is now bigger than Boston and will pass up San Francisco in less than 3 years at it's current growth rate which is leading the entire US for major cities. The west coast population just keeps getting bigger and bigger with no end in sight trust me I live on a planet called Los Angeles that's bigger than Jupiter. Players want to come to Seattle now because the Seahawks have established a winning culture and dominate the NFC west every year. They are playing for Super Bowls every year in Seattle now. Look how popular the Seahawks are now. They are in my opinion the most popular team in the NFL I live in Los Angles and I see Seahawks jerseys everywhere. Richard Sherman is from Compton and you'll see his jersey here in LA all day along with Russell Wilson plus Pete Carol use to coach USC so we love him. Beast Mode (MarShawn Lynch) is basically a hip hop and pop culture icon and a verb. (BEAST MODE is officially a verb now). He's back home here in Cali playing for the Raiders I hope he does well. When the Seahawks play anywhere especially on the west coast be it LA, Arizona, San Francisco or Oakland about a third of the stadiums are filled with Seahawks fans. Watch the post game show on Seahawks road games and you'll see half the stadium are Seahawks fans it's crazy I've never seen anything like that before except for in the NBA when the Lakers (or KOBE BRYANT) would play in other cities. Stop hating on the Seahawks and worry about your team stepping their game up.

      @marcamico5254 8 лет назад +2

      White Knight Of the Internet Lol. Or vice-versa. Doesn't Dallas play with alternate helmets whenever they play on Thanksgiving? I believe their original helmet color is white. At the same time,I notice most teams that play on Thanksgiving play with with alternates like the Shitiami Dolphins ... I hate that team,because I vividly remember watching Seattle vs Miami at the Kingdome when Kitna was Seattle's qb with Joey Galloway, Cortez Kennedy, Shawn Springs and Chad Brown when Seattle lost vs Miami in the wildcard back in '99 when Seattle was in the AFC West. Seattle might be wearing that lime green uniform ... Again. Last time Seattle wore those jersies was 7 years ago when Jim Mora Jr Seattle's coach and lost vs Chicago when Seneca Wallace was leading the way at helm. Philly wears that powder blue and yellow alternate uniform almost yearly. Why not Seattle? It's only been 14 years since Seattle last wore those uniforms. I mean,do uniforms need to be around 30 years old,before acknowledging it's alternate? Kinda like a antique car. A vehicle is considered a antique after 30 years and you don't need insurance to drive. So,Seattle basically has to wait 16 more years before wearing their alternate uniforms again? Lol.

      Marc Amico According to Article 2 on Uniforms, a team can only dress in the colors it assigns itself when brought before the commissioner. Throwback uniforms and helmet changes henceforth go under Alternate uniforms which are an exception to the rule. You can NOT wear anything other than the combination of a team's Home or Away outfits unless wearing Alternate uniforms, which can only have a different helmet under the circumstance that the entire outfit is alternate. Seattle's alternate uniform is the Wolf Grey's, therefore they can't wear Throwback uniforms. The reason the Dolphins were wearing Throwbacks against the Giants was because that constitutes as their alternate uniform. Had they worn Home pants per say, they would have to wear the modern helmet. So alternate helmets are allowed, but you can't change your helmet on a whim. (Article 2: static.nfl.com/static/content/public/image/rulebook/pdfs/8_Rule5_Players_Subs_Equip_GeneralRules.pdf)
      Before you ask why teams like the Steelers or Packers get two alternate helmets, it's because they don't mismatch their Home and Away uniforms like Seattle therefore they maintain consistency. It is also attributed to Seattle's unwillingness to wear throwbacks, which they'd only do once a year, and would require buying 53 customized helmets for each player with entire new paint schemes and logos not to mention having to custom make 53 jerseys, socks, shoes, and pants. Some teams do it through crowd funding (like the Rams) which Seattle could definitely do, but they don't because then you wouldn't see the white and blue outfits like Super Bowl XLVIII.

    Two things about this clip as a guy who loved 80's football. One, that '84 team was Chuck Knox's best coaching job...to lose an All-Pro bellcow (when running backs MEANT something) like Curt Warner in the first game of the season and still make the playoffs...and beat my beloved Raiders in the wild card game with guys like Dan Doornink and a washed up Franco Harris running the ball was remarkable. Two, and it's been posted on here, but Kenny Easley really does deserve Hall of Fame consideration. He was one of the three best safeties in football in the 1980's. His career was cut short, but in seven years, he was a 1st team All Pro three times and a Pro Bowler five times. Give me a guy who was great for seven years than a guy who was good for 12 or 13.

    Towards the end I felt kinda bad for that undrafted player who threw the 4th pick six, but then I realized just the fact he made an NFL team and played in a game is amazing; especially due to the fact he only threw 28 passes in college. He seemed a little disappointed in himself for not having a longer career, but he needs to hold his head... which I am sure he does to a certain extent.

    back before anyone called themself a 12 or anyone hung 12 flags in their window. that secondary was nasty though! look up Brown & Kenny Easley's stats on those early 80's seahawks teams. that had some real nice years. Dave Brown was awesome & Easley might be hof mention if he hadnt sued the league. he'd need a few more seasons but his injury really slowed him down. Easley was a monster! great video.

    • @str8jaz
      @str8jaz 8 лет назад

      +Toa Ninjis the #12 was retired in 1984 & they took the slogan of "12th man" from Texas A&M. Although alot of other stadiums use that in their stadiums as well, no other team used it in marketing at all. Seattle made so much money actually marketing the slogan & theme that they were sued & then forced to pay an annual fee to use the moniker, but they were not allowed to use the 12th man on any physical things (ie jersey's or merchandise)

      +don trotter The Hawks made the playoffs in '84. It was probably their best year before 2005. They were 12-2 before losing their last 2 games and losing the division title to the Broncos. Warner was lost for the season after the first game with an ACL injury, so Knox had to rely on the passing game. Krieg had a monster year, throwing 37 TD passes, and the defense led the league in takeaways. It was a fun year to be a Hawks fan. Unfortunately, the season ended in the Divisional Round at the Orange Bowl against Marino's Dolphins, who had an even bigger year.

    • @fjr70
      @fjr70 8 лет назад +1

      +Joe D Seattle had a monster year in '84. Denver had an opportunistic defense as well. After the season was over and Kurt Warner coming back from injury in '85, most people had a Seattle vs San Francisco prediction. In 1984, they played the 1st game vs Cleveland on a Monday, can do you remember why?

      It was in the late eighties that disaster struck the Seahawks: Steve Largent, Kenny Easley, Curt Warner, and The Boz all left the team at roughly the same time. (Note: I'm well aware that Bosworth wasn't that good, but the Seahawks nevertheless blew a first round draft choice on him). Oh, and then a couple years after these guys left, so did Dave Krieg. And with this exodus of players the dark ages descended upon the Seahawks and their fans.

      I agree with most of what you wrote there. But a true hawks fan never mentions that 1 name. He who has no name is a blot on the hawks and doesnt even deserve the mention of that detestable name.Doesnt matter they used a 1st round on his worthless ass.
