Get a second Spektrum radio, buddy box them, and teach Abby how to fly. That would make for a great series of videos teaching her to fly the full 4-channel trainer planes; like this Cessna. I'd watch them all.
I have had my real Cessna 150 built in 1958 since I started flying in 1974. Been flying it 50 years. I always use full flaps with the old 150 it has 40 degrees of flaps it comes down so nice without gaining any speed on final. Full flaps also make it so much easier to flare and land on the mains and keep that nose gear up to slow down on runway. Don't let anyone tell you to land without flaps under normal landings. For the softest landings for ruff fields I use full flaps and land at engine running 1500rpm until touchdown.
Glad to see you finally got the Cessna in your collection. As i said before FMS and horizon are top companies . I knew you would get one soon. I am loving the quality of the new releases. This hobby is so amazing. Way to go on the filming. As well as the drone flying Abby. People do know that it's you. 05:10 am Monday morning? Charging batteries for today's fun . Vancouver Island BC Canada.
I saw this plane first on Brian Phillips channel. Been eye balling it ever since. I really like the attention to detail on this plane. Clear windows, lights, lines, chrome spinner, etc. Nice looking plane and a nice maiden flight. Thank you!
I love the Cessna 182. Before the bloom of the Foamies, there were lots of balsa ply ARF and RTF Cessnas on the market. It's all you would see at the fields with beginners and old folks alike. Tower Hobbies had its own Cessna ARF and RTF. For a while, before foamies became popular, that is all you saw beginners fly. They were beautiful balsa and monocote-covered planes that flew incredibly.
The struts on this plane are fully functional. I lost one strut and that wing got so much dihedral so fast I almost crashed before I got it slowed down enough for the wing to return to normal . I had noticed it was loose a couple times before that too. I screwed them on with some servo screws and now they stay on . The other thing I noticed is the front wheel around where it goes through the fuse will wallow out and come loose from the servo arm. I now have almost 200 flights on mine and that is the only weak spots I have found . I am also not a fan of that snap on wing ,but it seems to work fine . Over all I love this plane and it is beautiful in the air .
I put DuBro 225T's on the mains. It needed a washer on the inside wheel pant, and the outside wheel pant needed about 3/16" removed from where the axle is captivated because the DuBro wheels are wider than the stock wheels. The axle is a threaded bolt, so some cured thin CA on the threads to make a little better bearing surface for the 225T's, and now it spins smooth and quiet. This bird is so beautiful, the spalling sound the stock wheels sort of lessened the scale effect for me. Keep following your dreams to fly. I owned N2597Q, an 182K Skylane for nearly three decades. About 2000 hours of flying and never had any major issues. After retirement, I really couldn't justify the expense anymore, but I never regretted owning it. Now, I imagine myself at the helm of this model, except when I'm doing cuban 8's or flying inverted etc. I think the most fun is when there is a gentle steady crosswind and you can shoot repeated landings on one wheel. One other thing is the lights. Before I am finished with this FMS Skylane, Nav lights on the wing tips will not blink, the white lights on the tips will blink simulating strobes. The white position light low on the tail will be on solid, and the red "rotating beacon" on top of the tail will flash. Just like the real thing.
I have the older version of this plane and also replaced the stock wheels with Du-Bro low-bounce versions (mains and nose wheel). I too had to use washers to shim out the Du-Bro wheels but no mods were needed to the wheel pants for my plane. What a difference! The plane taxis better and landings are smoother and certainly more scale without the cheap-sounding wheels. Highly recommended upgrade! Perhaps you could post a follow-up comment if you're successful at re-doing the LED lights? It would be really cool to have them behave the same as the real plane. Thanks!
Awesome!! If you can remember, please try to click one of your favorite RUclipsrs links (like ours) before placing your RC orders! Helps keep us going! 👍💯🙏⚓️
Great plane but you didn't mention the worst ever tires. More scale flying and landing would have been better but everybody had there own thoughts. Well done. Glad to see you get the plane. Not like the sea wind that you never got. Thats a good one.
❤I love this plane and think that it is one of my favorite next to the biplane video. I’ve always admired this hobby and have entertained the idea of having a plane of my own someday that I can enjoy as you guys do when flying for your videos. My dad introduced me to the u-control version of these planes. This is where you fly the plane via wires from which are controlled by the person holding the handle opposite the plane. He would buy a balsa plane model kit, build the plane and then take it out to fly. Good memories of those days, he is no longer with us but remember his interest in taking the next step with this hobby and trying a RC plane. His love of airplanes has peeked my interest through the years, and thanks to the RC Sailors I can from a reality stand point make this dream come true. Thank you,
Well said and thank you for your presentation. I was lucky enough to have mine in the air the first week it was released. My video left everyone to draw their own conclusions as I added music. Jim
Mine is coming today I can't wait to fly it. That is so cool that your learning to fly a real one. I wish I could afford to get my pilot license but I am retired on a fixed income so I doubt I could fit it in my budget. Great video keep up the good work!!
Beautiful looking plane. Amazing what they can do with foam these days. Hey, 0:29, what's that plane doin' in the woods!?? Just not a fan of those servos placed almost outside the fuselage, really wrecks that nice stock scale model effect.
Thanks for tuning in my friend! Yes, I agree when servos are mounted in the wrong spot it can hinder the look of the plane. Not sure where I’d install it as an alternative though. 🤔⚓️
could you recommend flap settings because nothing is mentioned in this manual . i swear no company beats Eflite for manual instructions, very upsetting.
I do agree that Eflite dominates with their instructions. That’s probably one thing that most people (including myself) overlook. I honestly had my flaps just set to the default settings. I don’t use flaps TOO often so hadn’t put much thought into it. Sorry, I know that’s not the answer you were hoping for. I’ll fly this again soon-ish and might know more then. Happy Flying! 👍💯😎⚓️
Nice scale looking plane. Flew well. Yeah Nate give Abby some on camera credit for her great dronie following . You never give Abby credit 😢😢 where credit is due😞😞🥴🥴. Yep great day for flying. ⚓️⚓️👍💚🧡💛👍😢😞🥴👍⚓️⚓️.
Very nice plane. Love your videos. What flight simulator would you recommend? It's been quite some time since I've flown anything so I figure I'll start there. Thx!!!
Thank you for the cool video. Two questions: should I assume the price point mentioned excludes the electronics, meaning the radio transmitter and receiver? Second, how difficult is it to learn to fly these things if not, as well as you are at least adequately to bring it around and land safely? I have more knowledge than some but a lot less than others.
Looks like the 299 does not include a transmitter and receiver. Sure, it might get around ok without gyro stabilization, but it's awfully handy to have stabilization... this feature has saved my butt too many times.
I've got a lot of hours in the "full scale" Skylane...even bounced it once like you did following an airliner into FSD! hahaha...ouch! How does this transport...do the wings come off easily?
The plugs on the wings are nice. No fishing wires through tiny holes so good for them. However the plastic clips feel like they could wear out or break quickly. Otherwise, removal and installation of the main wing is extremely fast and easy 👍💯😎⚓️
@TheRcSaylors, great vid, great looking plane. Looked like you were flying it with a spectrum transmitter? Being new to the hobby, and still learning to fly, I’m looking at getting a second plane, and your videos are making the decision process difficult. Lol. I was looking at carbon z 150, then horizon released the super timber and now you introduced me to the fms 182. Price point makes me lean towards the 182 but I have spectrum radios, can the Fms be bound to spectrum transmitters or would I have to use a spectrum receiver? Thanks in advance.
Thanks! Yes, this 182 can fly on a Spektrum receiver but it won’t be “Bind and Fly” which is what Eflite offers as an “ease of use” value. Binding to a Spektrum receiver when not BNF is more challenging to set up if you want all of the features, like SAFE but not impossible! Being a newer RC pilot I would probably recommend another Eflite plane if you own a nice universal Spektrum radio like the NX8 for example. A really good second airplane might be the Valiant. Very overlooked, semi scale airplane. Budget friendly, nice and forgiving but also pretty capable. Both Abby and I enjoy flying it for different reasons. Hope this helps! Please consider ordering whatever you go with through our links to help support us. Happy to continue this conversation and help however so can! 👍💯⚓️
Does this have the cheap compressed foam surface hinges like so many other FMS planes? I have had two FMS planes that had the rudder and elevator rip right off during flight. All I got was a "sorry" from FMS!
I’ve never had a foam hinge fail, unless I crashed a plane. That is very unfortunate it’s happened to you, twice! I didn’t pay close attention when we had this out, but I’d say yes it likely has compressed foam hinges 👍💯⚓️
Idk if it’s real but you bought this for 300 dollars and I’ve found the exact same one on Ali express for 100 dollars RTF FMS1500mm wing span and everything
This review neglects to mention a major flaw in this airplane. This makes me suspicious of this reviewer’s intent in making these videos. I thought it was me but after a few months it’s obvious online that many people have had repeated failure of the nose wheel assembly. It’s a flaw that FMS should fix but in all likelihood will not. I did the fix recommended to remove the sticky substance they placed in the front strut, got rid of the small wheels and replaced them with 2.5 inch for the front and 3.5 inch for the mains, moved the nose wheel servo forward a little and still the damned servo pops with the least amount of front nose wheel pressure on landing. I love how this plane flies but I seriously doubt I would buy it again without a nose wheel fix by FMS. An honest review would have included this important point, not just try to sell the plane. Subscription removed.
I don't enjoy watching a scale model flying non scale You being a pilot now, you should fly it more realistically. I like the war birds and aerobatic planes flying wild, but not scale GA aircraft.
@@chad9166 ; must have hit a nerve. . . Saylors flies like he is always behind the model being flown. His flights are not planned. . .he just follows the plane. Not in any way a fair analysis of the product being reviewed.
This is the most dishonest and unethical company I have ever dealt with in my life. The ESC had bad soldering and the plane fell out of the sky and was destroyed. They did absolutely nothing to help, basically told me to kick rocks. Then they delete the reviews that honestly depict what happened with pictures from their website, and it looks like others as well. This is beyond disgraceful.

Is it possible to attach the camera just like drone?
Yes, absolutely! 👍💯😎⚓️

Eine Cessna ist kein Kunstfugzeug und aus dem Grund fliegt man eine Cessna nur Skale und nicht anders
That’s not true about really good pilots not using as much, or any flaps. (I’m a Citation X and Excel captain).
Not sure who it was that told me that. I believe a full scale pilot, but that’s good to know 👍💯😎⚓️
Idk if it’s real but you bought this for 300 dollars and I’ve found the exact same one on Ali express for 100 dollars RTF FMS1500mm wing span and everything
Can you pls sind me the link ?

Bro spelled "watch' wrong; "watach" is crazy lol
"Watach"?
"Watach"????
I don't enjoy watching a scale model flying non scale You being a pilot now, you should fly it more realistically. I like the war birds and aerobatic planes flying wild, but not scale GA aircraft.
That’s very fair to say and to each their own! 👍💯😎⚓️
Yeah, but you constantly demonstrate you don’t know how. Uncontrolled x wind take offs, no consistency in any flight routine.
@@jetartessalesNobody asked you
@@chad9166 ; must have hit a nerve. .

Is this the review that ruined rcsaylors?
What makes you say that? Genuinely curious. ⚓️
Have you ever thought about becoming a real pilot Nate and/or Abby? :) @TheRcSaylors
Yes! Am slowly working on my pilots license actually 😅💯👍⚓️
@@TheRcSaylors OH wow!!! That's super exciting!! Congratulations!!!
G’day guys, looking forward to getting this one & fitting a camera into the detailed cockpit. I wish i could buy it thru your link here in Oz.🇦🇺🪃🦘
