I have said it before and ill say it again- this channel is top notch. I guarantee that if you guys keep putting out content like this, you'll be one of the top RC plane channels on RUclips. Great job!
@Furyman325 he saying he biased and basically sucking the yt channels di... But I think he right this channel deserves more views/subs... In my opinion
Bro I bought the plane based on your review, the plane is indestructible, I’ve flown a couple of times and every flight has ended in a crash😅 and it still flys great, it’s just awesome
No need to pump the tires. If you just put the needle in the valve the pressure will equalize with the outside air and you will see the flat spots pop out. Then remove the needle. This is the perfect amount of air. You may need to do this every time you get to the field, especially depending on the temperature.
Just maidened mine yesterday. Removed reflex gyro and used an AR631 with AS3X and SAFE instead which left me channel 5 for the reverse thrust lead. LOVE this plane. Thanks for the video!
I’m a bit jealous, you guys are providing the kind of rc airplane reviews I’ve always wanted. Y’all are akin to some of my favorite car reviewers, completely interested in what the aircraft can do throughout its envelope and exploring how it provides fun. Its fantastic! If y’all have the room, one craft that I’d love a review on is that Eflite V1200 or 900. As a flyer (and builder) I feel like a plane like that is my goal (tho my skill set is a bit shy of it for now). Having an indef pilots perspective like y’alls on the plane would be great for learning! Thanks for the videos
Thank you! Means a lot. We’ve owned the V900 at one point back when we lived in Seattle and loved it. Maybe we’ll pick up another one day, but the Flex Piraña filled the go fast void for us and can do much more than the V900. Stay tuned for a review on it. 😁
This is the type of review I’m looking for. All the other rc pilots fly the trainers perfectly , I want to see what happens when I crash !! Maybe do a tip stall crash too
REVIEW A MICRO PLANE!! I wanna see you guys hover the umx timber x or something. That plane is seriously squirley. OR the durafly micro tundra, umx regular timbers. They fly so closely similar to the big bois, but you can fly them in way sketchier spots and not kill anyone.
I mean we’ve flown the full size Timber into sketchy spots and not killed anyone… 😁 We owned the OG UMX Timber and loved it. It hovered (albeit barely) with a fresh pack and was super fun to do rolling circles with. Maybe one day, but micros really aren’t on our shopping list as we aren’t limited on flying space wherever we fly.
Bit of a year-later update. Tires are IMO weakest point of the plane, as mine started deteriorating and visibly cracking after just few months, then started leaking air through treads. Replaced them with 15cm wheels for lols, resulting in bit of a flying monster truck. Otherwise flies nicely, relatively idiotproof and I can't praise Reflex gyro enough, especially as you can wire it up to 3pos switch as channel 5 and change beginner/assist/off on the fly. You fuck up mid air? Flick to beginner and plane recovers, allowing you to fuck up again 5 minutes later, not 5 days later after fixing the plane. Though if I were to buy it again, I'd probably get 1700mm version, those quick detach wings are really helpful for transport.
Great video! Please keep them coming. You guys seem to be the only real flyer's out there. I would love to see a review on the new multiplex. Clearly multiplex's epp foam is one of the reasons you still fly your old fun cub. Thank you for great content!!
Awesome! That plane looks like it works great!!! Tho it is a bummer that you cannot buy them without the Reflex anymore... And that the 1300mm is not available in Europe just yet...
I can tell from now that i am not a beginner, i flew the old Beta-1400, the thing is it didnt fly 7 years, it never flew, so when ee bought new controler reciever and battery, threw it, it started to stall out on the side into the flat spin. Luckily i know how to get from flat spin but it was the most scary thing u ever seen, then we found out why it stalls out, the wings didnt have the metal tube between them so the wings started to wiggle... When we put something in it it was a lot better and somehow i managed to fly it for one hour, its still tailheavy but its nothing some nuts wouldnt fix
I got this as my very first RC plane. With help from a guy on a RC discord I bought the PnP and a Radiomaster radio and set all that up. I can vouch for both the durability and how easy it is to fly (with reflex). I sucked at flying the plane but once I turned auto leveling on and also had reduced strength on all the control surfaces it was easy. Since flying low is so scary i always went full flaps on the landings and i just sent it down going way to fast but it took every landing like a champ. Hell, I even crashed it nose first into the ground from a failed take off and guess what happened? Nothing, almost. I got a few wrinkles on the nose, and the foam on the wing where it's plastic and connects to the main fuselage got a crack in it, so I just glued and taped the wing to the main fuselage and now its golden. Don't even need to be able to take the wings off so might as well just glue them there, since the plane already fits in my car fully assembled. The propeller seems really really durable too. The reverse thrust was easy to set up, all I had to do was take the yellow wire from the ESC and plug it into my receiver and assign a switch. Also, I did get a 12 channel radio as well as a 8 channel receiver for the plane. I think I used 7 out of 8 channels. Need 1-4 for the control surfaces, one for flaps, one for reverse thrust and I'm also using a channel for a throttle cutoff switch because I am terrified of the propeller on this plane. Having never owned a plane I gotta say these props pack way more of a punch than I thought. If you hold your plane and give it full throttle indoors your gonna turn your living room upside down from all the wind. I love flying this plane and I was super scared flying it the first time. I can say it handles the wind really well with reflex on and also the big size of this plane makes it fly really good. Despite paying way more than I should have for this plane and everything else I needed I felt really confident flying it after watching all these youtube videos, especially this one. Thanks Tail Heavy Productions, your videos are 10/10
SAFE isn't synonymous with beginner. You don't need SAFE to fly a plane with no experience, and if you can avoid using SAFE, you'll develop less bad habits you have to undo once you solo without it.
not that ive seen. keep in mind you will crash as you learn to fly and foam is easier to repair. its also a good idea to keep the stuff you learn on cheap because you WILL break it
Hi guys great content! Now, I am seriously looking at getting this plane after such a great video. I am now not too sure after seeing the RCSaylors video where he ends up breaking the front of the plane. I was hoping it could take a bit more indestructibility, but I am not sure now. What do y’all think about how his video played out and how it broke do bad? Just curious to know what y’all think.
You’ll love it! No plane we’re aware of can survive harder impacts especially nose in so I wouldn’t discredit the plane over it. Accidents happen. That’s what glue is for. 😁
They can't fly🤷♂️. For ppl the 'have been flying rc for decades'. BY now, they should NOT need a gyro. Nov 2019 I got back n2 flying after a 20yr break. Jan 2020, I bought/buy only pnp. Gyros don't TEACH anything. Great for beginners!👍
This might be a good plane. But for that price I´d rather get the original FunCub from Multiplex. It´s even cheaper and I can be absolutely sure the qualitiy is without any doubt. I thought the Funcub was expensive...
You can’t get the original Fun Cub from Multiplex as it’s discontinued. The Fun Cub NG is difficult to get in the US as there’s only one distributor and it’s very expensive. For the equivalent completion level (plug and play) to the FMS 1300mm Cub, it’s nearly $500 shipped. Believe me, we agree the Fun Cub is the greatest 55” size class bush plane ever made, but in the US it isn’t very widely available, or inexpensive, either.
Good morning so I'm new to the RC world it's been like 30 years things have changed what would you recommend as far as receiver and transmitter. I found this playing on Amazon but it's like 350 the link you provided is sold out. Trying to get this under 500 don't think so though what's your thoughts
Great video. Very informative. First time I’ve watched one of your videos. Sorry, I might have missed it in the video, but what are the brand and numbers for the prop substitution you made?
We have tried to reach out to Multiplex about getting an NG and never heard back, and they're difficult to get in the US. For now, we're more than happy with our OG Fun Cubs. They're lighter, too. One day we'll try the new ones...just can't put a firm timeline on it.
Thanks! The 1700mm is great and takes just as much abuse, but forget about trying to even remotely come close to a hover with it if you want that option.
I gotta say I love the plane, but I totaled mine today after crashing it three or four times prior before I had plenty of problems getting it into some sort of spin and I could just never recover it and all instances of crashing and I don’t understand why go from to totry and circumvent the problem and even then I couldn’t get any control out of it
Sorry to hear it! In general, with almost any RC airplane, if the plane is in a spin, letting go of the controls recovers it so long as you don't aggressively pull out of it on the elevator when you recover.
Totally depends on the mission. Bashing without worrying about it breaking? FMS Cub. Graceful stick and rudder flying with better punch out of hovering? Timber. The Timber can do bush flying, sure, but being a bit bigger and with the gear springs breaking a lot it no longer will be our first pick to take to back country spots.
Anyone else see that other channels video....the elevator wasn't lost literally went full flap and ballooned and let off...full stall def didn't lose elevator you could hear that pilot was completely out of throttle
No plane is indestructible - but the level of abuse this plane takes in comparison to other RC bush planes before it breaks is night and day. This is ESPECIALLY true when it comes to the landing gear. Sorry to hear you had a bad crash. :-(
Mine is scheduled for delivery today. I have the 1700mm version and love it. As soon as I saw this 1300mm was available, I was all over it. This thing will handle the abuse for sure. I’m leaning toward NOT wiring via the gyro though. Don’t need it and avoids potential glitches especially considering this will see cold weather. FMS says floats will be released for this soon. Something tells me my FMS Kingfisher floats will fit this. We will see. Thanks for the great review. Appreciate a review that goes beyond just 5 minutes of touch and goes.
@@PanocekI personally have the 1700mm one and I love it. I think the 1700mm is better than the 1300mm because it's bigger and more stable, while also keeping a better than average maneuvrability for bush plane this big. You can also detach the wings, gears and stabilizers for better storage but not the fuselage, but that's not a big issue. Finally, because of the increased size and weight it can fly pretty well in medium/heavy wind and landing is easier because of the better stability. In short, I would say it's better for learning.
I really love the gear and inflatable tires on this bird! I really wish my Turbo Timber Evo would have inflatable tires as I don't like how the foam ones get dirty easily and tear up.
Y’all should review the carbon cub , I’m 10 years old and I can fly it with no problem . And I want to try to get into the hobby, keep up the good work
We do not, unfortunately. We were bummed to see it go out of stock right after releasing the review, but it sounds like the supply chain is compromised for a lot of FMS's stock. Fingers crossed it'll come back soon.
That comment from fpvgirl? Here a funny thing, there is no channel on youtube called fpvgirl, not that I can find, hmmm🤔There's a hashtag called #fpvgirl, but no actual channel.
that PA 18/ 1300 is the BIGGEST let down in my 50 + uyears orf R/C flying , ZERO stability Ill tell ya.. That FMS disaster is how you show people NOT to get involved in R/C, I have it bigger sister, the 1700 I bought months ago, and Im NOT holding my breath on that one either.. definitely NOT impressed......
TheRcSaylors destroyed theirs because of a bad elev servo 5 secs after takeoff it got stuck up (they preflighted it properly) and they satlled, entered a vertical nosedive and destroyed the plane
i just bought one been watching lots vids its got a 3536 850kv motor 40amp esc 11x7 prop , if i run it on 4s can i drop the prop to a 11x5 or 10x6 my 3 s packs only last like 5 mins and its a pita taking 10 of em to the park i got some real nice 4s packs would last longer if i wont burn anything ?

In short, I would say it's better for learning.
I really love the gear and inflatable tires on this bird! I really wish my Turbo Timber Evo would have inflatable tires as I don't like how the foam ones get dirty easily and tear up.
have it for 2 month and for a first plane , it is perfect and super resistant for crash. Thanks you for the video! (sry for my english)
2:47 hehehe
Like the gear and the top loading battery. Wish the PNP was in stock
It should be soon!
These are discontinued and sold out everywhere. At least the 1300 version
Back in stock...
THP says a plane is durable. Dammit, I wasn't even looking at this and now I need one. What is it about 1.3m planes? They all seem magic.
Y’all should review the carbon cub , I’m 10 years old and I can fly it with no problem . And I want to try to get into the hobby, keep up the good work
Best RC Plane review yet! Great content, keep it coming!
Do you guys have any insight as to when this plane will be back in stock?
