On July 19th 2023 I went to a local AMC theater to see a 40th anniversary showing of this movie. I had never seen the original “Vacation” on the big screen so I was looking forward to finally having the opportunity to do so. After twenty minutes of a blank screen, a theater employee walks into the theater to tell us the showing had been canceled because the projection system broke down. A fellow audience member said that it was only fitting because after all it was the Griswolds. Unbelievable.

Originally, they wanted to use Disneyland as the Griswalds' destination and have Roy Disney(Walt Disney's nephew and head of the Disney Corporation) in it. But when they told Disney about the movie and idea, Disney liked the movie concept but had to refuse because Disneyland is open 365 days a year, no exceptions! So the writers decided that the Griswalds' destination would be a fictional fun park called Walley World, a parody of Disneyland. And they had it be owned by a guy named Roy Walley, a parody of Walt and Roy Disney.

I love Clark - he's just like me. I have a long fuse and patience fixing something (my generator blew up over something cheap $500 later). Christmas Vacation with the switched outlet - "What the..? What the HELL!?!

I like the music as they run towards the entrance of the park, then they're like aww shucks man, the last thing we need is more bad luck, so he gives the moose a good punch in the nose which is the scene I laughed at, then he hijacks the security guard & defies his own bad luck, the Griswalds do want to go on every ride in the park! & why not?! I love this movie!!!

Me and my mother love this movie... my mother has shown me 80s and 70s movies for a long time and this one stuck around alot in my childhood. The funny thing is I've always wanted to go to Disneyland since I was born but I live in Australia so it was never possible for us. I am now 16 years old and me and my mother have been saving up enough money to go soon and I pray I get to go before in 18 and my childhood innocence has disappeared. I hope I get to do this amazing run with her to Disneyland as it's not only my dream but it is also hers. I just hope the park isn't closed for 2 weeks when we do get there.

I love this movie so not trying to burst a bubble but closing a park to maintain and clean it during the most busiest season of the year (Summer) would never happen. Even if a ride broke and killed someone they would only close that specific ride. This was a hilarious and perfect part of the movie and even I wouldn't change a thing knowing that.

I went to Cedar Point on a rainy day once. The rain stopped, after everyone either didn't show up (weather report) or left for the day. Halfway through the day our clothes were dry and they opened the rides. I rode like a king, did the same ride 8 times without having to get out of the seat. It was the log splashdown ride. I got wet.
