She was toe-dipping into the early throes of some ridiculoudly ambiguous, platonic situationship with Sherman like some freshman college girl, while momentarily chaining up a couple dates with the more attractive, slimmer, devil-may-care, bad-boyish Buddy (whom Word of God states that she *KNEWS* that he was in truth Sherman all along, although cannot explains to herself the how and why about the seemingly supernatural personality switch/body swaps) . She wanted Buddy physically and in terms of his bravado, swagger and confidence... but loved Sherman for his gentle, kind soul while being unable to get past his weighty physical impediment in terms of both size and looks departments. Sherman was far below her league and even if she decided to start a relationship with him, she was probably afraid that the Klump's calorie-heavy life habits might eventually stick on her. As well as affecting her waistline. It was another of "Lois Lane wants to date Superman, but ignores Clark Kent" scenario tropes again, except than this time when the Lois or Mary-Jane of the story found out the truth, she don't settle for the superhero.
I remember watching this in theaters, people were laughing so hard they were crying. Eddie Murphy killed it.

To be honest, Carla was double-timing much over the course of the entire movie.
She was toe-dipping into the early throes of some ridiculoudly ambiguous, platonic situationship with Sherman like some freshman college girl, while momentarily chaining up a couple dates with the more attractive, slimmer, devil-may-care, bad-boyish Buddy (whom Word of God states that she *KNEWS* that he was in truth Sherman all along, although cannot explains to herself the how and why about the seemingly supernatural personality switch/body swaps) . She wanted Buddy physically and in terms of his bravado, swagger and confidence... but loved Sherman for his gentle, kind soul while being unable to get past his weighty physical impediment in terms of both size and looks departments. Sherman was far below her league and even if she decided to start a relationship with him, she was probably afraid that the Klump's calorie-heavy life habits might eventually stick on her. As well as affecting her waistline.
It was another of "Lois Lane wants to date Superman, but ignores Clark Kent" scenario tropes again, except than this time when the Lois or Mary-Jane of the story found out the truth, she don't settle for the superhero.
