White Clam Pizza never sounds disgusting. It's delicious.
IKR it sounds delicious
Something that ,I think, is unique to CT, but if the rest of the country ever tried would go crazy for is Hummel hot dogs. They are made in New Haven (Hummel Brothers) and if you’ve lived in CT and eaten at any hamburger/hot dog stand you’ve eaten them. They’re great!
RED HOTS!!!
A Connecticut lobster roll is always hot and buttered. A frappe is more Boston. A milkshake in Connecticut always has ice cream
Love this. Mystic is such a dream during summer.
Sea food is the best! I love oysters, clams, hot lobster rolls, soft shell crabs, corn crab chowder at Jimmy's. Apple cider and Birch Beer soda are popular. Check out the Griswald Inn in Essex. Great place and town where you can shop in quaint little stores and walk to the water to see the boats and sometimes fish jumping.
You should try Foxon Park soda, especially the birch beer, and also especially if you have pizza.
You can't talk about New Haven pizza without mentioning Modern Apizza, it's probably the 1 preferred by the locals. A Connecticut lobster roll is warm with butter, the good ones the lobster is in the butter with perhaps some other spices and seasoning.
Modern is usually voted 3rd with Pepe's and Sally's flip-flopping between 1 and 2. I will say that if you want a pizza with eggplant on it, Modern is the place to go!
@@Ryan713 I don't see Pepe ever doing well with the locals. It's usually between Sally's and Modern with that place( I forget the name ) in West Haven sometimes making the list. It starts with a Z I think, they are known for their sausage
Why you trying to get torist robbed, car jacked, cat in car stolen by telling them to go new haven!!
Zuppardi’s West Haven 👍👍👍
I always go for modern over pepes!
1) If you want birch beer--or just local soda in general--you need to do Foxon Park. They're in East Haven, but you can find it in Stop and Shop around the state.
2) Connecticut milkshakes have ice cream.
3) If you want to check out a wide variety of restaurants at once, hit up Main Street in Middletown.
@1:05 Definitely recommend Frank Pepe’s over Sally’s if you want to try New Haven style apizza for the first time, especially if you’re coming from eating other styles of pizza.
Pepe’s is more accessible literally as in there are a bunch of them around CT but also tastebud-wise, as in it’s less charred than Sally’s is.
Don’t ever say New Have style is “burnt” to any fans of New Haven style But to be honest, the charcoal flavor is the most divisive thing about it.
Anyway, try the Tomato Pie anywhere. And go try places outside of Pepe’s and Sally’s. Bar , Zuppardi’s, Roseland, Fuoco’s, Mike’s, Ernie’s. Just look for the word “apizza”.
Really appreciate all the suggestions, everything looks so yummy.
Fascinating to learn about delectables from various parts of our wonderful country! Especially interesting to see these kinds, which are "politically incorrect" in the area where l live!
These are my favorite kind of travel videos. You all find the best food for each region
Thank you for this! Planning a long weekend here in early June!
You gotta love watching kids eat 😂 love the video! New England has some great looking food!
yes it does. such good food!
Finaly a nice vedeo about ct
Love Mystic Seaport and the connection to Denmark. Only ever had lunch in Connecticut, lobster rolls and they were great.
Next time you’re in Connecticut come up to Manchester and have pizza and or grinders at CJs on Broad St. You won’t regret it delicious. They are closed on Mondays and they shut down for a week or 2 in August for vacation.
Will be there later this summer. Thanks for the heads up
going to visit my cousin in lyme, ct. i had found a video on a few of the best lobster shacks in that area but now i may have to make a pit stop on my way home in new haven for some pizza as well! thanks for a great video!
Best cider donuts: Hacklebarney Farms Cider Mill in Chester, NJ. Yes, I have traveled for just these donuts... and the cider twists.
But yeah, a lot of delicious pick-your-own berry farms and apple orchards here in CT.
hi guys, when you are in new haven for pizza try modern on state street and zuppardi's in west haven. they are still family owned since 1934. they have antipaste before you have your pie. and they also have cannoli's and italian ice for desert
You are soo right, Dunkin is KING! I went to MA for a visit and there were Dunkin’s EVERYWHERE. 🍩
Louis' Lunch in New Haven is the birthplace of the hamburger (disputed with Texas). Their burgers come steamed as they did at the turn of the 20th century. Just don't ask for ketchup because it didn't exist back then
You got it right, except that they are flame broiled, not steamed. Steamed would be O'Rourke's or (not as good), Ted's.
Saw your Abbott's bib! 👍
Costello's next door in the boatyard is where we love to stop for some good seafood when in the Mystic area.
We have been there too. We have friends in Stonington so we are up there every other year or so.
I thought flavored seltzer was big everywhere lol
sadly no, but it is gaining popularits lots more places :)
The best place for a lobster roll is Lobster Landing in Clinton and a CT lobster roll is always hot and buttered, never cold with mayonnaise. That’s how they make them in Maine.
The best restaurant in Hartford to eat at is City steam Brewery on Main Street cuz I used to make my homemade potato chips there
Love Mystic. Grew up in Newport Rhode Island. Grew up on fried Crab cakes.
We hop over that way almost every trip to Mystic. I have an eats of RI too, let me know what you think of it.
@@WoltersWorldEats thanks will do
The best Whole belly clams and Lobster rolls are in Mystic, Ct. Not to mention, Thin crust crispy pizza. Llittle pricy but worth it. Harriet and I have spent a lot of time there. We have relatives that live nearby. You won't go hungry there. Thanks, for the tips. Sending you lots of love 💕💕 Harriet and Jim
We love that area too. We have friends from Stonington and get to visit every couple years. I'd be really obese if we went more often than that.
Burgers in New Haven at Louis' Lunch are broiled vertically, rather than horizontally. (Also, don't ask for ketchup or mustard, it'll apparently ruin the freshness of the garnish, and the juiciness of the beef.)
Love your Corn Palace t-shirt at 4:30. Is the doll museum still across the street?
It was when i was there last a few years ago
We love Mystic for seafood but we live closer to Captains Cove in Bridgeport which has what we think the best fresh fish & chips! Their fried fish is always so fresh and cooked to order it is pricey for sure but worth it considering how good it is! We are def lovers of Pepe Pizza the white clam pie is excellent! Another great and very pricey pizza is Roselands In Derby we live close by and we love their food they sell a Medium Shrimp casino pie for $50 bucks!! We treated ourselves to one a few months ago and while we thought we were crazy to pay that amount of money for a Medium size pizza it really was delicious the shrimp were fresh and huge and the entire pizza was covered in shrimp. If you are ever looking for a wonderful lobster mac n cheese Roselands is the best I have ever had it is def pricey but you get a really good amount!!
We will check these out next trip! Thank you.
lmao i love liam!
He's a good dude 😀
I like lobster tail part like surf and turf
We paid $40 for a Lobster roll in Boston, so 20-25 sounds good!
😳 that's bananas!
@@WoltersWorldEats that's Boston! Lol
It's not a bread with a slit down it, it's a New England hot dog roll.
Bar is a great pizza place too. Their bacon mashed potato pie is excellent
5:18 That's a Massachusetts food.
MISTAKE...Connecticut does have milkshakes...FOR SURE !!!!
I'll spend the money ifvits quality! Mmmmmm
exactly!
What is a Grinder?
A New England sub is called a grinder.
Or a hoagie
It’s like a hoagie, submarine sammich, po’ boy, Different regions have their own unique names
Abbott’s is the best!
2:57 That's a Maine food.
Sometimes, foods are prevalent in more than one place 😉
Damn she gorgeous
I agree :)
I won't eat the claws
Why?
Last time I was in New Haven I looked like everyone was eating oxycontin and fentanyl.
You gave no places to go to!!! Outside of the pizza places this video is useless.🤷♂️🤦♂️
New Haven pizza sucks unless you are at Modern!! Frank Pepe is disgusting burnt bitter and greasy!
