Lance Prenc is known for phat mixes. He has worked with bands like Thornhill, Alpha Wolf, Polaris, Gravemind, Void Of Vision... And delivered some of the most aggressive sounding productions out there.
His 'Kinglake Drums' drum sample library is a hidden gem among the drum sample libraries. It includes a variety of kicks, snares and toms in different tunings, as well as an amazing set of Zildjian cymbals. While those samples sound very natural and have been captured very detailed, they will need some processing to bring out the aggressive, punchy character of a modern drum mix that we all love.
With this Mix-Ready template the routing and processing is already done for you and you'll get that phat, modern drum sound.
This template includes:
- Multi Out routing
- CPU friendly drum processing with free plugins
- Minimal latency master bus processing
- Custom Mix-Ready Drum Map
- The stems of the demo song 'Sub-Zero' (by Alpha Wolf). So you can listen to the individual elements of the mix and analyse how they interact with the drums.

😅 oh gosh all those beautiful drum sample libraries... I used Perfect Drummer years ago when I had no clue what I was doing. Maybe it‘s time for a revisit 🤘🏼 Also I think they want to release Perfect Drummer 2 soon..?

Damn it sounds so good, pretty close to Lance Prenc sound, but a bit thiner, i actually prefer it like that ! Great job once again !
Also, do you know how Kinglake would work on a e-kit ? Like would it be like GGD, especially the hi-hat, does it have the "cc" feature ?
Thank you dude this means a lot! I am really happy with this mix myself and I really enjoyed mixing those drums with Joãos stems. Obviously those tracks sounded amazing already and didn't need much processing to work with the drums.
I can provide full e-kit integration and bring this to work with Variable CC Hihat and Cymbal Chokes (even with MuteTail sound). Just PM me in case you're interested. :)

@@TheMisterazzo Yes absolutely! Like with most of my templates, I am using Joãos stems and applying some additional processing to make them work with the drum sound that I created 😊🤘🏼
These drums sound fucking huge! Fantastic job once again man! If only I didn’t have to buy kontakt 😞, Might have to drop a load of money for the kit, template, and kontakt who knows 🤷🏽♂️🦍(and a Logic version of the template 😏😂)
Hey man! Yeah the only downside is really that you need the full version of Kontakt for the Kinglake Drums. :( But the good news is that I added the Logic pro X version of the template now. :)

Hey! I feel you. Multi-Out routing of Kontakt libraries can be difficult and intimidating. That‘s why I created these Mix-Ready templates in the first place. It‘s hard to help you with just text. :/ you can look up some tutorials for other Kontakt libraries - maybe the tips will apply for Kinglake Drums too.
Hey I just bought your template as well as the kinglake kit because in this video it sounds so good. I'm using logic and I noticed the drum mix sounds a lot different in the logic mix vs the cubase mix. It sounds a lot weaker. How can I get it to sound like the cubase mix?
Hi man! Thanks for buying the template! There are some differences in the plugins of the different DAWs, so little differences in sound are normal. But it shouldn‘t sound weaker! Please check if everything loaded up correctly and if the signals are running through the correct channels (kick, snare, etc.). I dont really understand. I only need the Kit, and this Temaplate ??? Or do i need some more free plugins to download to get the exact same sound ? And if, WHICH Plugins ? i use Reaper

Please scroll down to see the plugins you need. So basically:
Kontakt 6 Full version (because those Kinglake drums will time out after 15 min when using the free Kontakt Player)
Kinglake Drums drum samples
GClip plugin (free)
Molot Compressor (free)
And the stock plugins of Reaper :)
So I’m new to recording music and was wondering how does this drum kit work… like for example can I play around with this kit to make other types of beats or what…
(Like dumb it down as much as possible for a complete complete beginner)
Hey there! If you haven‘t worked with digital drum sample libraries and drum programming before, I recommend checking out some videos about that topic. This will help you more than I could with just text. My Mix-Ready templates are basically pre-mixed projects for your recording software (Cubase, Logic, Reaper, …) so you can open the project, start writing drum beats, and you will have the same drum sound as shown in the video. You will need some software though - you can check the requirements by following the link in the video description :)

I’ve never heard of these drums, how do they compare to GGD in your opinion?
Those Kinglake Drums are perfect for aggressive styles of music and are way easier on the CPU (compared to GGD). They will need more processing though and there is no ‚turbo‘ function. But as you can hear, even with stock plugins they can sound huge! A downside is that they only work with the full version of Kontakt :(
Would you create that template also for logic ?
