Pleeeeease keep making these videos. These are far and away the most helpful tutorials out there on the subject.
Dude, you’re absolutely killing it with your videos. Amazing work!
Man I just found this channel and Im mad that I’m only finding it now.
Amazing content.
Thank you for sharing all of this hard earned knowledge. And your content.
Man, that's a massive sound and a fairly coherent workflow for such a complicated process. Bravo!
ohhh I've been looking forward to this one!
WOW again!, insane mix, a very dense and defined sound, I would love some of this for my songs! thanks for sharing your engineering
Why is it always the calmest people who make the most insane mix haha. Amazing video
Amazing work!
Awesome 😎 since I'm a keyboard player , this stuff and virtual guitars videos are priceless.
All your videos are incredible!!
That kick punches hard!
reference
kick: 7:10
snare: 12:52
cymbals: 19:14
full kit: 19:45
This was incredibly helpful, managed to make a massive thall drum sound using only Krimh Drums (and a lot of multiouts).
That's great to hear man! Happy for you 😄
I'm a fan of your tutorials, they are really good. Cheers from Stockholm.
Tusen tack! 🙏
This video is top notch. I didn’t use all the same samples or plugins but most of them. Literally took my drums from okay, to absolutely the sound I’ve been chasing in my head. Your content is absolutely invaluable
That makes me very happy to hear man! 🤘
That snare is bigger than Russia. Outstanding job man. I really like how you bring layers from ottrr librarys like the damage and heaviosity. I will check them out
Thank you! It's really easy to overdo the Damage layers to make them sound cheesy as you say. Accumulative addition of one layer at a time is the way to go in my mind and having a clear intention what each layer should bring to the sound.
Holy fucking shit you're mixing tutorials are absolutely incredible. Amazing work!
Thank you man, glad you enjoyed it!
sick dude 🤘
Wow what a sound you're getting, incredible tone it really sounds massive. I might have to pick up GGD currently I only have EZdrummer 3 was wanting to branch out into some different plugins.
Sounds great man!!
Thanks dude! 🔥🤘
I just found your channel and damn dude you just shot to right behind nolly for my fave mix tutorial guy! Massive tones, defs gonna adopt some of your ideas 🔥🤙
Bro is just giving away the secret sauce. Love the videos man!
For real. This kind of info is normally behind a paywall
Holy cow what a sound! It's crazy and absurd but in a very tasteful way. Great job man. I may have to rewatch this video a few times to really digest all the madness.
Thanks man! Understandable 😅 I tried to make the graphics at the top explain the bussing as clearly as possible but if you have any questions regarding routing just let me know!
@@MOMetalProductions could you maybe explain where everything is being routed in kontakt?
@prodbyscythe I am routing each kit piece to a separate output, then the outputs are routed into the bases that are showed on the visuals at the top of the video 😊
@@MOMetalProductionswhat about the overheads and room routings in kontakt
@@prodbyscythe They all go to the cymbal bus apart from the snare room that goes to a separate output :)
Fantastic tutorial and mix overall!
Could you share the Kontakt preset or explain how the levels / routing of the kit-pieces of the different kit pieces are in Kontakt?
For example, are all Kick-channels from M&M (even OH / Room etc.) routed to the kick-output? even if I do so, i still have some bleed-channels
that are going go out 1 by default.
thanks in advance!
dude me too, i''ve been trying to figure out best practice for this for AGES. would love to hear back if you ever figure it out!
You're my favorite metal mix channel. I definitely see myself being a long time fan. Would it be possible for you to put all of the plug-ins you used somewhere in the video or description with their prices? I'm only starting to get into mixing and I would find it useful to be using that for reference. If not it's fine, it is just something I find would be useful.
best free metal mixing channel BY FAR. NTM is cool, but this is free and there's no excuse anymore.
I use OKW Metal - I always need to add some extra low end for my taste and this is a cool way to do it.
heavy af
Absolute wonders, I’ll apply this to p4 cause I can’t afford p5 and will probably just use one library for everything
Love your channel and your work, would you be willing to share a bit about the masterbus settings? is it a big part of the end result we are hearing here?
thanks for rumble eq trick on toms
Aw hell yeah
Wow… when I saw a tons of EQs on the snare I thought what about the phase… but it sounds pretty cool!
I don't know if it's a Cubase thing but I feel that the delay compensation is really good most of the time. Thanks for the kind words! 😊
This is GOOD buat i will need in ableton
This should be doable in Ableton. I'm not using any Cubase specific function in this mix 😊
Is there a specific Prenc audio pack used? It sounds like the snare from the Kinglake Drums pack.
What is the sample of Lance Prenc snare? What is the name of sample pack?
Couldn’t figure it out myself, but I used Kinglake Drums Pork Pie, and Busters Fatal Snares for the other sample and it worked perfectly.
Kinglake drums
wow brooo this is such great work! 😮 but what are channels "st.8" and "st.9" for? tom's OH and room? 🙏
Can you share sounds for trigger?
Great lesson! Can you tell us about your routing in more detail?
I think it's easier if you ask a more specific question. I tried explaining generally in the video
it’s clear you’re a nolly and George lever fan. Nice video.
Guilty as charged ✋️
I do tend to go for more saturated tones than those two I'd say, less organic sounding I guess. But definitely I got inspiration from a lot of techniques from them!
DAT SNARE THO.
what can you do with sd3 tho
Which sounds are you using on the Damage Breackdown Section?
It's an anvil hit from Damage 2
I have a hard time with figuring out how to route everything to separate channels, do you have a template just for drum routings we could have??
I don't have that, but I'd recommend you to check out the videos on GetGood Drums RUclips Channel!
Please tell me which channels go to what? St1, St2 and so on🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Nothing is clear. Why does the main kick go to 6 channels at once?
What about the OH near and far mics? How are those treated?
Everything is treated on the same cymbal bus
0:57 why do your kick raw in the okw metal sound so much more punchier in your daw than in mine? I'm Not using anything in the master bus or instrument bus, so I was wondering if your sample is like this because of mixing in your other busses.
The processing applied is the drum bus and band bus, both are detailed in the video what I'm using for those 🙂
can i get the templates
They should hire you for the next Doom Soundtrack
Hey there my friend! You're such an amazing mixing engineer, just showing this sauce FOR FREE here on youtube! If I could make a suggestion for a similar video on your channel:
Maybe you can make a video like 5 minutes long, where you pick only one GGD library and show us the absolute minimum of effects in the mixing process!
Like I only got GGD M&M and I wanna learn how to get a fairly good, essential metal drum mix only with this one library. :) If you could do this, I would definitely get you 5 coffees at once 🤩
This.
I dig the sound, but its so excessive and extreme, i dont even want to attempt putting this into a session with the libraries i own at the moment.
Please make it happen!
one snareburger please
I think Nolly already made this vid?
i have one question, is the stems just for pro tools ? or i can use in reaper ?
The stems can be used in any DAW
What song is this, holy smokes ...super interesting ideas
Thanks man! That's just a demo I wrote, not decided yet if I'll use it for something 😊
yeah 100& use. Hoping for you to finish the song in the same vibe and energy @@MOMetalProductions
This is sick! Is this the same general drum mix that is used in the Humanity’s Last Breath mix video??
Yes, exactly the same 😊
Awesome, thank you sir! Sent you two “cost of a coffee” payments! 😀👊🏻
Another question - Not to ask you for every single tiny bit of track/volume/bleed settings, but is there anything specific to call out in terms of the volume settings for the drum components in Kontakt before you route them out to individual tracks in your DAW? Or are the volume levels set at ~50% for the most part?
And to clarify another person’s comment on this thread - the overheads and rooms for all instruments (except snare) are all sent to the same track as cymbals?
@@Consider_band off the top of my head:
Bleed is all the way off.
Volume is adjusted in the context of the mix to taste.
OH is in the cymbals track, yes.
Snare Room is on a separate channel.
Bro. I love your videos. But like damn. The snare is just ridiculous.
Hi MO , what is your pc spec ??
Just bounce everything separately if your pc can’t handle it.
I’m guessing he has something pretty beefy
Thank you bro! I just put out a new single “Nexus” and I used the GGD PV kit. I’d really appreciate if you could give me some feedback 🙏🏻
These sound great but oh man am I not paying $400 for the damage snare stuff haha
'promosm' 😳
Knallvideo.
Try this, feed that snare some "crack" and hear it spew forth energy. Most have the snare at full body and minimal crack. Instead seek out a good mix of med. body med. crack. This will be difficult with samples, easier tuning a snare drum, at least for me. Once you go crack you will never go back. The energy that spews forth from that snare? well as said try it....thx for the vid
What song are you mixing? Shit is NUTTY
Thanks man, it's a demo I wrote myself 😊
