    Hi Nick, great walkthrough video. 3 things I noticed that would be nice additions to this MBUX system.
    1. Mercedes navigation should show 'time remaining to destination' and not just 'arrival time' in the little box while navigation is active. More convenient to know how much time is left without self calculating. Could not find a setting to activate this.
    3. When the navigator speaks an instruction ' turn left etc' the Mercedes radio dosen't lower its volume automatically so you can hear the instructions clearly. This results in the radio playing at the same time as instructions are being spoken. Turning up the navigation volume dosen't help much because its like have 2 people screaming at each other (Radio and navigation)...especialy when music is playing loud
    2. Full screen navigation mode with no buttons showing - would look slick on the screen

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  Год назад

      Yes that would be good but sadly I’ve not seen an option to change this with the arrival time. I’m pretty sure all Mercedes are like that.

I have a question concerning navigation (maybe you have already mentioned it in another video, but I cannot find it). In my "old" Mercedes M 350 I had a knob for repeating the spoken command in the navigation. In my new GLE 350 e I cannot find this knob or "How can I repeat the spoken command during navigation?" Hey Nick, thanks for the videos. There is a big flaw in MB GPS. It doesn’t tell which side of the road your destination is. So let’s say you’re going to an address which is by the road or highway. You are going 65 mph and all of a sudden it says you arrived. You don’t know if you need to turn left or right. Even the flag on the map is not showing that. I personally filed a complaint but no response so far. I think they focused so much on hedonics and missed the functionality part! I had 2012 Japanese car with a more functional GPS. I hope MB hears about this huge flaw. It’s a safety feature to my opinion.

      Well believe it or not Mercedes like most manufacturers don’t produce their own maps 🤓
      Mercedes actually utilise HERE WeGo maps in their latest multimedia systems which you can find on Google.
      I personally use postcodes which always takes you to the “area” but I don’t think I’ve tried house numbers etc before.

Also, I have set up the commuter route route option but it doesn't seem to work although it does recognise my regular route to the gym as a commuter route! Can you turn on a switch to display the speed limit?

    • @npoleary

      Some cars can but from factory they’ll need an option called
      Speed Limit Assist
      or
      Traffic Sign Assist
      Usually found (depending on the model) in Settings and then Assistance 👍🏼

    Why didn’t you mention it cost $550 to activate it. Otherwise you cannot use Navigation in your new Mercedes-Benz..? Every video I’ve watched has skipped that little detail

      I’m sorry I don’t know what specs are like elsewhere. I guess you’re based in another country or something? Sat nav is standard here in the UK on all new Mercedes I’ve covered. That’s what I’ve seen when I pop into my local one.
      Specs vary massively round the world so chat with Mercedes directly and they can let you know what’s available where you live.

    You make MBUX look easy unfortunately Mercedes’ me has a mind of her own,You can ask some commands and she will give random answers that have no bearing on what you ask.
    My favourite is hi Mercedes’ navigate home and she will say navigating to sun lane Sunderland or Mill road Wimborne.Absolutely not relevant at all.

      Hey Jason, best thing to do is make sure your car is linked to your Mercedes me account for the Hey Mercedes voice assistant to work correctly.
      Also make sure Terms of Use are ticked and all of your Mercedes me services are on otherwise voice functions will be limited.
      If you get in touch with your local Mercedes, they’ll be able to help if you get stuck.

      I’ve got the same problem! She’s definitely not the sharpest knife in the drawer! I’m trying to use voice commands. It only works occasionally. My older MBZ wagon was much more user friendly! How can you cancel an intermediate destination and continue on? I LOVE your videos!!! Very helpful

      Best thing to do on a G-Class is nudge the wheel to the left on the Navi screen and use the Intermediate destinations and info in there. One of my most recent videos covers this: ruclips.net/video/5KVNqIhArtI/видео.html

      MBUX is definitely one of Mercedes’s best to date compared with COMAND etc.
      Although most modern cars allow you to alternatively use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. So if you don’t like one or the other, there’s usually alternatives which might work better for you and offer extra features compared with a car’s in-built one 🤓

      @@npoleary Hi Nick ! Here, in Spain, most of us drivers are disappointed with the navigation route engine, prioritizing secondary roads to highways or highways, with an average of 1 hour more travel time compared to any other navigator, on routes of 600km... routes with roads closed to the public that are under construction that have never been opened.
      Now it seems that Mercedes has signed with Google Maps, leaving Here We Go out, but it is something that only MBUX 2.0 will benefit from :-(
      Also, in my case, with a 250e, I have the need to use the original navigation for engine and battery management.

      @npoleary  9 месяцев назад

      Oh I see can you chat with Mercedes to see if your maps are up to date? Don’t worry for the Google part, it’s not Google Maps it’s just Google POI’s and suggestions. Here we go mapping is still used on the map

      @@npoleary Yes Nick. I sent a lot of information (closed streets, coordinates, photo, bad routes) to Mercedes and Here We Go.
      Here We Go, answered me to all mails a lot of time, and they indicate me that the problem is a 'Route Engine' of Mercedes.
      Mercedes, after 9 emails they have not answered me.. only automatic reply with the case number... (really poor Customer Support in Spain).
      About version, yes, I have instaled V20 (last version) :-)
      Thank you very much for your answers.

    I find MBUX to be 95% totally unnecessary. It’s very annoying, time consuming and basically a bloody nuisance. I hate it and don’t like having to have another bloody PIN number to remember, and as far as talking to the car… it makes me feel like you have all lost the plot. This is my 3rd c class on the trot. I shall not be buying another.

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  Месяц назад

      Turning the PIN off is one of the first things I did when I bought my car. This is one of the latest MBUX generations. So if you don’t like it then it off, I made a video this year on my channel about how you can turn it off. It literally prompts you if you want it when you first set it up. It’s called access protection.
      For voice assistants, most modern cars have voice assistants, if you don’t like them then don’t use them 👍🏼
      If you’re not thinking a Mercedes for your next car what manufacture are you thinking of?
