Protip; ignore cell lifespans they're the one thing the manga and anime don't really get in to. Mostly so they don't have to keep replacing characters, I'd bet.

The manga this was adapted from has a lot of extra bits that go into the character designs and other things like the inside of an ‘apartment’ etc for example, the jackets of the red blood cells are reversible so depending on whether they’re carrying oxygen or not, the jacket either shows the darker red side or the lighter red side. Also the ‘apartments’ represents the generic cell bodies (the personified cells are basically personifications of the apartments) and there are ‘cloning pods’ inside representing the nucleus where the cells are ‘cloned’ and there’s like diagrams on how the ‘cityscape’ corresponds to the interior of the body as well (for better visualisation)

Ahh speaking of the red blood cells, just noticed their hats are actually shaped like them aha! Love these little touches! Cheers for the heads up on this, this was honestly awesome to know!

Yes, produced by david production, the studio behind the infamous "JoJo's Bizarre Adventures" series.
The reason for the plateletes being so tiny is fairly simple actually. In Japanese plateletes are called 血小板 (read as kesshouban) which is 3 kanjis that form the word. The three being the kanji for blood (血), small (小) and board/plate (板) which leaves me to belive thats the reason for them being depicted as small.
In English, -let is also used as a diminutive form. A small pig is a piglet, a small book is a booklet, and the cute small version of an arm-guard or a bracer is a bracelet. Couldn't platelet also be a diminutive form of another word in English? After all, a platelet is smaller than a red or white blood cell.

You say that the show is very cliched; that is true. The stories are very much the standard cliche anime fare. But I think that that aids the show. The stories are very familiar so that all of the explanation time can be used on the biology instead of convoluted plotlines.
The episode on eosinophils is a great example of this. The story is the simple story of a person who is undervalued by her peers becoming respected by them when the right type of problem that only she can handle happens. Because the story is a common one, the episode can focus on describing the role of eosinophils in the body.
Yes!! Exactly! As the main focus and point is the representation/translation of the human body as anime characters, I really do feel like the "simple" stories actually enhance this! Honestly enjoyed it so much and can't wait to continue watching :) Ahh that sounds awesome! Really looking forward to the eosinophils ep now haha!

The actress for Red Blood Cell is Kana Hanazawa. She is an excellent Japanese voice actress! I’d recommend seeing more of her work, like Washio Sumi is a Hero.

not sure if you guys noticed this but the main red blood cell that the series follows has a cowlick and im guessing that its suppose to represent that she is actually a sickle cell hence why she keeps getting lost
OH SNAP! Definitely didn't notice that, wow that's actually really interesting to think about - though it's a bit dark if you consider the life expectancy of someone with sickle cell anaemia :(

Do your actual what we call residency or you call your four years at an American level one trauma center. Trust me you won’t regret it as literally you see it all. England and much of the world can’t say that. Gunshot wounds are a rarity outside the US. Plus the fact everyone knows their job and does it helps. Stabbing is rare too outside the US. I recommend charity hospital in New Orleans which became Louisiana university medical center, Orlando regional in Florida, university in Seattle, the three big hospitals in New York City, and cook county general which become Kroger hospital in Chicago. Trust me you haven’t seen a busy hospital until you’ve see these. Everyday a flood of people are in and out needing medical attention. Also try to watch the first episode of scrubs as seriously that will define you first day on the job.

Definitely something worth considering for sure :) I've actually seen the first episode of Scrubs (though it was a while back so my memory's a tad fuzzy on the specifics haha) but I really enjoyed it! Everyone says it's the most medically accurate TV show out there so it might be worth getting back into it aha! Thanks once again for the information man! Appreciate it!

That's a theory that I've heard is debunked, (besides that sickle cell wouldn't just affect a single cell). But if that turns out to be true, it will be interesting.
Also worth noting though are the reversible coats of their uniform, which are a brighter red when carrying oxygen and a more subdued red with CO2! Also, their little disc shaped hats. 🙂

@@velocityofcl Actually, you can. Doesn´t matter unless you put the full episode. There are tons of videos of people reacting to Hataraku Saibou. Like Dr Hope or Dr Mike and they haven't problems with copyright at all. Just for you to know. I don't ask you to put the full episode or the audio too high, just balanced enough to hear you and hear the audio, at least, a little bit more.
Also, you can put a copyright disclaimer at the begining of the video. That way you gonna be safe from copyright strikes.

Unfortunately, copyright doesn't affect everyone equally - you can get claims, blocks and even strikes for literally seconds of content even though this falls under fair use, we just can't risk it especially since it's happened to us many time already, forcing us to delete those videos. Big RUclipsrs like Dr. Mike are successful enough to have a team of lawyers to fight wrongful copyright strikes. Smaller RUclipsrs just have to take risks, and this is the safest balance we've found.

She's not a sickle cell, otherwise there would be several other cells like her getting lost. A person with sickle cells would have LOTS of sickle cells not just one. Red just isn't very bright
In later episodes she shows that she can perform things that Sickle Cell can't.
