- When Obi Wan was talking about "If you strike me down I shall become more powerful than you could imagine" who knew he was talking about Chinese video sharing apps?

The ban is already backfiring who would have guessed
One aspect I wish we would unpack is that fear of learning is another part that helps insulate people from the ability to reassess their own ideas. There are definitely out and out racist but I fear we underestimate the fear of learning in general no matter what the topic.
i have noticed an unfortunate increase of anti-curiosity and anti-intellectualism. some people just don't want to even try learning. i'm going to keep trying to help people though.
Wake up the morning feeling like P Diddy
Hey there, you’re welcome for stopping by
I'm not from the states but unfortunately I can't even log in, it just instantly shows up a message that my account is banned
i never got into TikTok, maybe its cause im a millennial, makes me feel claustrophobic to watch so many back-to-back high energy short form videos
That said, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a different short-form content app to spring up, like a resurrected Vine or something. I can't imagine "Red Note" will catch on here that much
i would like an actual vine replacement to happen. once the videos start getting longer than a minute, i feel like that should be it's own app.
To clarify about the "don't ask don't tell" thing regarding homosexuality, I don't defend it as I am pro LGBT and I want people to be able to express that openly. The reason I feel the Chinese attitude towards LGBT is significant isn't because it's better or that it's good, but that it was the historically the "conservative" attitude throughout much of the world. Coming from an extremely homophobic country, my lesbian friend's reaction to the don't ask don't tell approach was "I didn't realise China is so much more accepting than here". And this friend isn't even a leftist, let alone a tankie
