      looking up the memory chips on the back of the card and comparing it to samsungs datasheet, those are 0.25 nanosecond chips, so 8Gbps aka 2000MHz, yet the card appears to only run them at 1275MHz if GPU-Z is to be believed

  • @Knaeckebrotsaege
    @Knaeckebrotsaege 3 года назад +33

    Interesting discovery about the VRAM on this card. I went hunting for Samsungs datasheets and discovered that the VRAM on the back of the card is rated for 0.25ns speed/8Gbps throughput, which if I didn't screw up on the calculations means the cards VRAM is rated for 2000MHz, yet it only runs at 1375MHz according to GPU-Z. Sounds like A LOT of OC potential... actually it's not even OC since the card basically underclocks the VRAM by default lol. Would be interesting to see how far it can actually be pushed and how much of a difference that makes in the real world.

    AFOX was and I think still is pretty popular in the Philippines for cards, at least from hobby stores and not the one on malls since they are more or less stacked with the mainstream manufacturers. If I recall correctly there were more of these rather foreign manufacturers such as "Ninja" amongst others. They don't sell new models though and is more likely aimed towards the PC Cafes, and Game hubs around the South East Asia. The larger than what is considered normal memory relates to this, as the people would be playing esports or emulators and needs a large graphics memory to run more than 1 instances.

    • @Mu7eD-Stream
      @Mu7eD-Stream 2 года назад

      Xbox, PlayStation have been using it already for years. It is unlikely to go any further as it was a response to the GPU shortage. Now this is finished so will be development on technologies which allow for older hardware to keep up. Its not in the manufacturer interest to extend them more already. 3-5 years is the upgrade cycle of a PC. This is industry certified and a standard. Cost to performance. They won't go outside unless for extreme circumstances such as a GPU shortage. This is why this technology came.
      In short don't be such a cheap ass and hold onto the same machine for too long. It impacts the rest of the market. Just take a look at steam hardware survey. Over 60% have a modern GPU within the last 5 years. For development this indicates that RTX and other technologies can be safely implemented without pushing half your customers away.

My hottest CPU core is only +34.0°C One claims to be +31.0°C Could be a sensor error. I don't do water cooling and don't have a great case or anything either. I did put a half decent exhaust fan into the case. My motherboard wouldn't run the fan the case came with. So I got an ARCTIC F12 with 4 pins and it could run that. It was a whopping $7.49 when I bought it. Turns out it is a half decent fan though. What I don't do is over volt or overclock anything. I just run it as is.

I'd love to see the 750Ti 2GB vs this card just to see what performance is like, and also against a low profile 1030 and 1050.

    an altered version of the quadro k1200. the quadro k1200 is the quadro version of the gtx 750 non ti, and with 4gb vram. it's also low profile, though has a different output configuration with quad displayport. the afox card though was created from these in some way, whether they were able to get the bare boards and configured them from there, or got a bunch of cards and altered them from that, or whatever. pretty cool pieces though. there is even one maxwell card weaker than the 750 too, the quadro k620. it's the closest thing to a gt910 or gt920 we would had ever gotten, hehe.

    Afox is quite well known at least for me (in Indonesia). Founded in 2008 in Taiwan under the famous Foxconn company, with its main products of motherboard, Afox later expanded its range of products to vga card. Afox even won multiple intl awards for its vga card (for certain type). It has official representative offices at least in Taiwan, USA, Russia, China, South Korea and Turkey. In 2017 afox also made some product for mining purposes. I'm also usinh afox motherboard for my H61 socket. The price segmentation of Afox is below famous companies like asus, asrock, msi, etc.

    I was using an i5-2600k however so was CPU bottlenecked in these games. Maybe Fortnite utilises cores/hyperthreading more than GTA?
