The thing about Mike Patton is that he just doesn't "Try" LOL ...in a way he just goofs off a lot of the time, BUT when he doesn't the dude can sing as good as anyone!
Mike Patton singing This Guy's in Love with You or with Mr. Bungle singing What the World Needs Now is Love ultimately should put him far up number 1. It's EASY!
"Angel Dust into Mr. Bungle changed every singer in heavy music. Patton is a living treasure" - Devin Townsend. With Mike Patton in the game, it's just not fair.
Also, while FNM is cool and all, if you really want to see the extent of his vocal capabilities, veer into his other projects like Fantomas, Tomahawk, Peeping Tom, General Patton vs the X-ecutioners etc..
It doesn't appear you've reacted to Faith No More's "The Real Thing", "Zombie Eaters", or (another amazing cover) "War Pigs", all of which also show off Patton's amazing vocals. Keep up the good work, gentlemen.
You’ve gotta do Faith no More “Just a man”. It’s got a classical vibe with some gospel flare. Yes you read that correctly. You will feel like you’re in a Baptist church.
@@Godspeed1756 me too 😂 I used to manage a record store in the 90s, and picked up a shit ton of imports, promos etc. I was going to send you a pic of the Easy maxi single i have, but... no pics allowed lolol

It was (back then at least, not sure about now) only ever released in japan because a fan bought the rights to produce and release it. Phenomenal stuff, even for back then
I.....what? That is not even remotely true. They’re all pretty average and get outclassed by a lot of other musicians in their classes. Bass: Les Claypool, Victor Wooten, Flea, Ryan Martine Guitar: Prince, John Frusciante, Buckethead, Brian May, Tatsuya Maruyama, Herman Li Drums: Danny Carey (!), Chris Thatcher, Neil Pert, Buddy Rich Keyboard/Piano has a smaller sample size, but still: Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, Vangelis.... His vocals in the FNM Coachella performance of “Ben” shows his head voice so amazing. The one during their comeback tour, he’s in a red suit. May have to request it !
Lamentatio by Eyvind Kang featuring Mike Patton. His vocals on that track are just fantastic. (More operatic) Then We're Not Alone by Peeping Tom.... Dead Cross or the latest Mr. Bungle album for his metal vocals. Faith No More is great, but his capabilities outside of that band are worth a listen and a mention, like everyone else in this comment section is doing. Haha ;)

Not exactly everyone else haha. I think Patton’s Mondo Cane album is a better showing of his vocal ability. This is... ok. But something Patton could probably do in his sleep 😊
When this cover was released - like 20 years ago - my friends and I loved that they covered this song since we grew up with it. We especially love his big "EWW" compared to Lionel Richie's little one in the Commodores version. Yes, I'm old.
So far, this tournament has been pretty epic, and it's only the beginning! I have a feeling I'll be voting for Mike in this matchup, but I'll wait to see his competitor. Brand new to your channel. As you mentioned in your video you’re missing earlier vocalists. Powerhouse vocalists from 80s - Ronnie James Dio (Black Sabbath, Rainbow, Dio), Geoff Tate (Queensryche), Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden).
A competition like this makes no sense. The three I’ve heard so far are each great and unique in their own way. Lane had a very unique voice that he used amazingly. Chris has an unbelievably soulful, edgy and smooth voice. Mike can pretty much do anything, pretty fucking amazing actually. So for me there is no loser because they are all great, comes down to personal preference. That aside I appreciate the reactions, always fun and funny
