Mike Patton is an extremely versatile singer and has a range unlike most vocalists. From Mr. Bungle to Faith No More to Tomahawk....and he's even done opera. He is truly gifted!
@@laurabuer4714I believe it. Patton is a criminally underrated singer. I put him up there among the absolute greatest of the last 50 years along with Chris Cornell and Robert Plant.
Mike Patton is known for flexing his vocals on cover songs. He did it with Mr. Bungle for years and years. Another good cover by FNM specifically is Bee Gees' "I Started a Joke"
I would prefer if they did the Bee Gees' original, though. They've done as much pre-1975 BeeGees as they've done pre-1975 Fleetwood Mac, or pre-1975 Bob Seger. In other words, Zero, Nada, Bupkus. (I am rather miffed, I admit.)
When I heard y'all were doing covers, I IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT OF THIS SONG! I am so psyched you could really see some of singer Mike Patton's underrated skills.
They also do great covers of Black Sabbath’s War Pigs, and The Bee Gees’ I Started A Joke! You should check out Mike Patton’s other musical projects like Mr. Bungle, Fantômas (film score type stuff), Peeping Tom, Lovage, and Tomahawk to name a few…
"Carousel" would be a good song to introduce J&A to Bungle without throwing them into the deep end. If reaction channels didn't have to worry about views, I'd also suggest Fantomas's cover of "Simply Beautiful."
@@johnplaysgames3120 Yeah, Carousel would be a good intro to Bungle. Or basically anything off of California, especially Pink Cigarette or Sweet Charity.
I don't like their version of War Pigs. I also don't like how Patton sings We Care a lot. He doesn't sound like he cares a bit!! Haha I just think Mosely was made for that song.
Great choice! Here's another cover that's also good for Female Friday and by a singer you'll love. "It's Oh So Quiet" by Bjork, a 1995 cover of a 1951 song by Betty Hutton. Bjork's voice is incredible and I think you'll be amazed. "It's Oh So Quiet" isn't like any of her other songs but it's a great entry point into her work.
Respect. They really paid tribute to the original, but still made it their own. I had no idea they did this cover, glad you guys are covering this topic, lol.
This was great! Thank you for your reaction! Two covers I love are Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt (Nine Inch Nails) and Disturbed's cover of Simon and Garfunkel's Sound of Silence (live or video versions, equally good).
Faith No More actually had a ton of great cover songs. War Pigs (originally by Black Sabbath), I Started a Joke (Bee Gees), This Guy's in Love With You (Burt Bacharach). Easily one of my favorite bands.
Faith No More is a rock revelation out of the gate but they mature as musicians and Patton matures as a vocalist. Keep traveling this road because you'll like where it takes you.
Nice! I will say as a longtime fan of Faith No More, those able to digest the big picture will be greatly rewarded, super talented, true visionaries that were very influential to other musicians
I was lucky enough to see FNM live in the the 90s and they played this song. Absolutely jaw-dropping live performance! It was everythin I expected and a bunch of things I did not expect.
A really cool cover is Willie Nelson and his son Lukas covering Pearl Jam song, “Just Breathe” The official video is very poignant and meaningful as well as a beautiful song.
Another great cover by a group you wouldn't expect to cover that song is White Lines by Duran Duran. The original version is a legendary hip hop song by Grandmaster Flash and Melle Mel.
I saw this live years ago when they opened up for Billy Idol at the Cow Palace here near SF. I was shocked not only how true to the original it was, but most importantly how great it was! This is how you do a cover!!
You really need to go down the Mike Patton rabbit hole when it comes to vocals as he can do it all. Known as the man of a thousand voices he is just a phenomenon. With Mr. Bungle, Faith No More and Tomahawk, Mike Patton does not disappoint. We need more of him.
Never heard this. Interesting!! I never deep dove into Faith No More, but Epic is truly one of the all-time greatest hard rock songs. Good stuff guys! 😊
I think this should be an ongoing theme!! So much fun! And tell me you would include Disturbed "Sound of Silence" as a complete flip for how a cover should be done.
It is always cool to see where another artist or group gets their influence. If you just look at the band and the songs that they sing you would not think The Commodores was a group that they would be into or appreciate. That is why music is so great. It crosses over and brings us together.
These dudes are beyond real. Their messages are superb, even when it’s a cover. They’ll get you through the lowest points & come out shining on the other side. It’s all about FAITH ✨

IMO when it comes to FNM all the gold is in the non-commercial songs, of which they have a lot. Mike Patton is a really diverse singer. He's considered, among singers in and around the genres, as well as some vocal coaches, as one of the best. He is instrument. That will make more sense if you check him out further. You can find his work on Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Fantômas, Tomahawk, Dead Cross, Peeping Tom, Lovage, Kaada/Patton, Hemophiliac, and Nevermen. From beautiful singing to disturbing noise. Insane range as well. He can do a lot. BTW, if you haven't yet. Check out Dimash. He might be the best singer in the world currently. That man is on another level. I recommend Greshnaya strast (Sinful passion) by A'Studio to start with. He will blow your mind.
You need to listen to Faith No More sing the song “Evidence”. That original track of theirs does a really good job covering most of the bases, from the three songs you’ve now listened to.
