Sync Wireless PS4 controller with PS3 Console (No PS3 Controller Required) 2024 Method

Sync your wireless PS4 Controller with your PS3 Console using only a PS4 controller. This method does not require you to have a PS3 controller.
1. Plug your PS4 controller into your PS3 console using a micro USB cable and press the PS button. You will now have a wired connection.
2. In the PS3 menu, scroll to "settings" and then "accessory settings" and select "manage bluetooth devices". Select "Register a New Device" and then "start scanning"
3. Remove the micro USB cable from the PS4 controller and press and hold the "SHARE" button and "PS" on your controller until you see the controller light blinking (Bluetooth pair mode). Your PS3 will have now found your controller titled "Wireless Controller"
4. Plug the micro USB cable back into the PS4 controller and press the "PS" button and select wireless controller on screen.
5. Remove the micro USB cable from the PS4 controller again and put it back into blue tooth pairing mode by pressing and holding the "SHARE" and "PS" button until you see the light on the controller blinking and the console should now have registered the wireless controller and you will be prompted with a "Register Completed" message.
Congratulations! You can now use your PS4 controller on your PS3 console wirelessly.

Get stuck on nr 5 ..but I am unlucky to have the superslim model which seems to get this problem after some years, wifi works flawlessly and it can detect Ps3/ps4 and 3rd party controllers also when initiating the search , but it gets stuck on that very last step . remember folks, avoid slimmed downed versions of consoles if possible...not sure but I have a feeling that when they´re mass-produced the way they are, chances are you are probably less likely to get the "monday-shifts funny quirks" if you go with bigger and sturdier rather than neat and small....

Try making sure it is registered as the only controller there. Mine wasn't working and it turned out to be registered as player 2 and not Player 1

Its not compatible with every game like max payne 3, maybe it is and L2 and R2 aren’t working so load into the game with DS3 on then make ds3 player 2 and turn it off then connect ds4

I know it sounds silly but make sure that the cable has a data line. There are some cables that are only for charging and don't have the wires for data in the cable.

Gran Turismo 5 and Burnout Paradise do not work but the modern warfare games and Assassins Creed and Fight Night round 4 works (playing with USB connected to the controller) this guy's method of using the PS4 controller wirelessly only works here on the menu. On my PS3. The controller would not work wirelessly on any game
