I worked SAG background on this film for 1 week. We were filming at the International Terminal of the Los Angeles airport with around 2 to 3 hundred extras. I got to chat for a few seconds with Bruce before a couple of scenes, but overall, he was mostly unapproachable. The whole shoot was a mess and I commend the editor of the film for making it look coherent. One memory of that job stands out: That year many of the other filming locations they had planned on using had very little or no snow and it was driving the producer, Joel Silver, crazy. I was standing next to him in the LAX terminal when he started shouting and hurling obcenities on the phone at his location manager. I thought he was going to have a stroke he was so mad. Great times. 🤪
Yes, as I recall, the film was a "troubled production" that received a lot of bad press early on-over budget, multiple directors coming and going, etc.
@@ricardorgomezYou should read the OP’s post again, because that’s not what they said.
The OP stated that they had many OTHER (normally) snowy places lined up for the exterior shots where snow was needed, but it wasn’t snowing at any of them, hence the producer’s frustration. It had nothing to do with it not snowing in LA, lol..🤦♂️
Now, Die Hard with a Vengeance. It's not a Christmas movie but it's still worth it to see.
What is kinda Christmas movie is Long Kiss Goodnight. Directed by same person that this, Renny Harlin. Starring Geena Davis and Samuel l Jackson.
The Long Kiss Goodnight is an amazing movie, never gets the love it deserves. Die Hard with a Vengeance is my favorite of the Die Hard movies. I don’t know if it’s the best but it’s my favorite.
Even Bruce Willis himself has said Die Hard isn't a Christmas movie
@@rozzie101 But, we all know Bruce is wrong about that..
Understatement!!! 🤯👊🏻
She's gonna lose her mind when she sees Die Hard with a Vengeance. 😮 I'm glad she had fun tho 😊 it's adorable when she gets excited 😅
Bruce Willis started of as a comedic actor, having great success in the TV-series "Moonlighting."
After having done some comedy movies, which were ok to soso, he suddenly reinvented himself as an action hero in the first Die Hard movie.
It all explains why he is also a decent drama actor: most comedians know how to make people laugh but they also know how to make people cry.
I'm sorry for what happened to him the last few years.
The actor playing the incompetent Airport police chief, Dennis Franz, is a great actor with comedic flair as well.
He starred in the cops shows 'Hill Street Blues' as a weathered police detective and in 'NYPD Blue.'
You'd never know it from watching this movie, but Dennis Franz is a combat veteran from the Vietnam War.
Amazing reaction! And I can't wait for part 3! it's incredibly awesome
agreed
Part 5
It is! But 1 and 2 will always be Best!
Pinko is a slang term for someone sympathetic to communism.
I just realised it is because some Red rubbed off on them, or is in them.
@@Deathbird_Mitch I think it's just because pink is considered a girls colour, (and near to red), hence diminutive.
The second movie was good but the first Die Hard and the third Die hard, Die Hard with a vengeance, are fantastic. You're really going to love the next movie
I'm glad you continued the series ^^
I love dark colored eyes and Dasha has the best. She's looking and analyzing. The reaction is very important. The 'that's vhat she said' jokes are spot on. 😁
11:30 "The bad guys are dying ridiculously painful deaths." Well, it's called Die Hard.
Great reaction, as always.
The third movie takes place in the summer, so you don't have to wait another whole year to watch it. 😀
3 is even better, almost up there with Part 1!
hahahaah nope !! never ! niet! nunca, jamais
@@Kalamardo2010Mai? Horses for courses. If we all had the same taste, it'd be a boring world.
6:09 "he's a shark, hey? arrrr." 😉
Hello from Finland, you Russia girl! This movie is directed by Renny Harlin, a Finnish director! =)
"Die Hard With a Vengeance" ("Die Hard 3") is just as good, if not better, than the first movie! Definitely watch it!
Love your reaction. When people use the term "getting a free lunch", it's a saying that means nothing's free. When it was said in this movie, the cop shoots down John McClain's assumption that he'd be involved with the police operation just because he's a cop (from a different city). The actual saying is "there's no such thing as a free lunch".
I used to install swimming pools. One of the most selling signs we had read: WE DON'T SWIM IN YOUR TOILET -SO DON'T PISS IN OUR POOL!"
Great line up of baddies including the T2 Robert Patrick.
Diehard 1,2,3 is one of the best action trilogies ever.
Pink slip refers to an old way to getting fired from a job.
Regarding "fish" and "ponds. "The "fish" refers to the person -- a big fish is a "big shot." The "pond" refers to the domain, the venue. The most common use of those terms is to describe someone as a "big fish in a small pond," meaning someone who thinks they're important, but the scope of their importance is so small that they're really not much.
I have a bit of a fear of hights but flying no. Once the height is above a certain point you know you will be dead before you can feel the pain. Part of my fear is tied to a nervous twitch I got from mom that makes climbing unstable at times. Also the airport boss, was also a long running US Senator who even shows uncredited in Under Siege as himself near President Bush. Fred Tompson was in many films playing a tough boss type. He also was the guy that turned on Nixon in hearings causing Nixon to resign.
Greetings from Finland girl!!! Wholesome reaction and this was directed by Renny Harlin and he's from Finland 2!!! You should check out Cliffhanger witch he also directed.. I mean if u haven't seen it yet??? "i'll be back" 😎
Die Hard 1 and 2 are traditional Christmas viewing at my house. Happy holidays and best wishes to Bruce Willis and family.
Die hard 2 is one of my favorites of this series. Die hard with a Vengence is also good... Not a Christmas movie. Lol Another good movie set at Christmas time is Long Kiss Goodnight with Gina Davis and Samuel L Jackson. Action and lots of it!! Great reaction and the cast is awesome. Marv is my low key favorite.lol Fun point is when you said "at least he has shoes on this time"! Haha 😂! Luv ya Dasha ❤️💛
That doesn't count, it's a shane black movie and all his movies take place at Christmas
Great job Dasha! Another fun reaction. Glad you enjoyed the movie, and I'll agree with a lot of other people here in that I hope you do Die Hard 3 sometime. Keep up the great work.
The Ejector Seat scene is SOOOO classic John Mclane!!! 😅🔥👊🏻
This movie has a special place in our finnish hearts as it is directed by Renny Harlin, a finnish director that did some good stuff in Hollywood but also some aweful shit. Also at the end when they are landing all the planes using the light form the crashed plane it plays Finlandia by Jean Sibelius, our national composer. And that piece is very important to us patriotically, depicting our struggles under Russian and becoming free of that and starting to get our independence, although this was composed almost 20 years before we got our actual independence. Also note on the director, he always (at least almost) puts some refence to Finland in all his movies.
I remember my surprise the next film I saw the antagonist (William Sadler) appear in: Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey.
The church at the beginning gives me Rocky Horror Picture Show vibes.
Twinkies used to be somewhat better before they added so much sugar it's the only thing holding them together (like almost everything now)
Dasha - remove any phobia about flight this movie may have given you. Every Pilot has a plan to follow if he finds himself 'alone' as everything else is 'Hollywood'. They make it seem no one else can contact these planes.
The endings for both movies dove tail, you're right.
Great reaction Dasha love your laugh and smile. Remember your English is 1,000 times better than our Russian.
Bilyat!
Always a fun watch with you, Dasha. You will love Die Hard with a Vengeance.
when you get a chance #3 is also really good.
If no one else has mentioned it yet, The Last Boy Scout is another great Bruce Willis film. With a very similar character to the beloved John McClain he plays here.
Thanks for your reaction--very entertaining, as all your other ones that I watched until now (a few more to watch). Have a nice day.
Hey Dasha here's a fun fact in the annex skywalk scene when McClain comes out of the vent the first man that he shot is none other than Robert Patrick aka the T-1000 from Terminator 2 Judgment Day.
I like this one a lot and prefer it to Die Hard 3. But 3 and 4 are both pretty good.
*_Can't wait for you to watch the 3rd Die Hard: With A Vengeance! It is the absolute BEST of all the Die Hards!_*
can confirm, hi-vis vest and confidence can walk in anywhere, no one questions, kinda funny
I'm going to wear one the next time I go to an airport.
Die Hard 1 and Die Hard 3 are the two 'good ones' of the series for me.
Pinko or Pinko fanatic are terms that refer to people who support communism. Since ‘red’ is the color of communist like Russia and China.
John: For once I would like to have a normal Christmas, eggnog, Christmas tree, and a little turkey but no I got to crawl around in this m************ tin can.
😂😂😂
Another good reaction Dasha! ❤
Awesome reaction, I think the 3rd Diehard (Die Hard with a Vengeance) is the best, plus you will get a surprise to see who is in this one.
I wonder if the director consulted Michael Bay for the plane explosion early in the movie? Huge fuel explosion for a plane that's supposed to be flying on fumes would be his style.
John: You look very familiar to me.
Me: Yeah, he's Sloan from Section 31 and he's about just kill Chief O'Brien.
Good to see you again Dasha.
So cute. Great review. Watch Die hard 4 with Justin Long. Technology crisis. July 4th this time. My favorite, and the funniest of all the die hards. Lol
The first movie and the third movie are my favorites :)
great review
Fun one, Dasha! 😄
Diehard 3 is one of my favorites
Thank you Dasha next time Die Hard with a Vengeance
best die hard movie ever. used to watch this everyday it came on tv.
All Die Hard movies are amazing!!! You love each of them!!
3:24 - “pinko” was a term for Westerners who were perceived to be sympathetic to international communism. The word suggests that they’re a bit red, i.e. pink.
Love this movie 😊
Merry Christmas Dasha
Hi Dasha!😊 "Pinko" is a derogatory term for a left-winger or democrat. It was a popular term in the 50s and 60s. A "Pink Slip" is what you used to get years ago if you were fired from a job. This film was definitely in the spirit of the first film. You should definitely watch Die Hard 3, "Die Hard with a Vengeance" (1995). They break the formula of the first two films, but it is very good and realistic. Great job reacting to your second Die Hard film, Dasha!!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏
Many journalist are considered left-wing.
Your hair looks good, I like watchn with you cuz you obviously genuinely good person keep it up
Bruce was so full of himself by this movie, notice how every women he meets bats her eyes at him
@6:57 - That's what she said..!
😊👍
The more i rewatch this film, the more I hate it when they show the shot of every passenger in the 1st plane that explodes, also the fact that it happens on Christmas Eve is tragic.
Great film but I still prefer the first one, which I will be watching sometime soon as it is the Christmas season.
Hahaha. No not usually tasers allowed. maybe back then, like pepper spray.
You said the allergic words “Christmas movie”.
You’ve watched a bunch of movies that take place during holidays that aren’t holiday movies. Well, the internet hasn’t designated them as one yet.
Great Christmas Time movie. The 3rd is my favorite along with the original.
It's not the flying so much that I'm afraid of, it's really more the crashing
It’s kind of in the spirit of the old saying, “it’s not the fall that kills you, it’s the sudden stop at the end.” 😁
I also still can't believe both Die Hard movies took place during Christmas 🎄
The third one is my favorite.
dasha become more agressive day by day
Unpopular opinion, but for me, Die Hard 3 is best. Adding Samuel L Jackson was an instant win for me.
Do Die Hard with a Vengeance!
Pit game on point.
Can't wait for your reaction to A good day to DIE HARD, which is the fifth movie. That one will feature a Russian villain.
Yeah, I love this movie.
Only the first 2 Die Hard movies are Christmas movies, but the 4th (Live Free Or Die Hard) is an Independence Day movie.
Dasha, you need to try Twinkies😋
Yes, everything a growing person needs :)
@@kurtfrancis4621 & Snowballs🤣
The third one is the best! Promise!
8:43 When I see scenes like this one, it makes me think it would be _more_ practical for all the planes on approach to have it as their standard operating procedure to redirect to other airports _nearby_ instead of continuing to circle _this_ one. I mean, it's hands-down easier to secure planes on the _ground_ than to keep them in the _air,_ even though they're on the ground at a different _airport._
That is actually what airliners (and most other planes) do. There is always at least one "alternate" in case the planned landing spot has a problem. That is my big gripe with this movie , which I otherwise like - 90 minutes of fuel would have gotten those planes a very long way. They could have flown to Florida on that much, and they all instead stick with the only airport in the world that is both snowed in AND under terrorist attack.
@@7thsealord888 Yes I was going to that.
Overshadowed by the first and third entries, but I love DIE HARD 2. Fantastic action movie.
Can’t agree with that. Maybe overshadowed by first but in my opinion, Die Hard 2 trumps 3 any day!
@@krystofthepolishguytalksan310 I prefer 2 as well, but 3 clearly gets more praise.
@@ToylandChairman666 oh no doubt about it.
2:15 either in movies or in 1990
Cool reaction as always Simone & George, you take care and have a nice day sweetie 🥰❤️
Um. Wrong reactor. Much as I also like Cinebinge.
This is one of the greatest sequels ever made. Sadly, it's also the last great "Die hard" movie. For some reason, the third one is very popular and often singled out as a highlight of the franchise. It is not. It is absolutely awful. It has no real "Die hard" atmosphere and John McClane's character does not make sense at all compared to the earlier movies. Plus it's really, really stupid, unlike the two first that are really, really clever. If it had not been for the movie "Under siege" with Steven Seagal, we would have got a REAL "Die hard 3" movie. The original "Die hard 3" was supposed to be about John and Holly being on a cruise ship, when all of a sudden hi-jackers take it over without realising they just messed with the world's greatest one man anti-terrorist team ... But this storyline was changed after "Under siege" premiered, for being too similar to that movie. Which is a HUGE shame. But, we'll always have "Die hard" and "Die hard 2", possibly the two greatest action movies of all time.
Oh yeah - also check out "The last boyscout", another action masterpiece with Bruce Willis, from 1991.
I want a Dasha for Xmas - i know she's near
Hey dasha you should check out the running man it's a great movie
Great movie. Another great Christmas movie just like Die Hard. You should also see It's A Wonderful Life the ultimate Christmas movie. Also you should also watch Die Hard 3 (Not a Christmas movie) and stop the other Die Hard movies are horrible. Of course you decide what you like all we do is warn you about the really really bad movies :) . In the Die Hard franchise they had a perfect run for years with first 3 movies but you cant always succeed. Die hard 4 was very bad and depressing and when you thought it was over but then somehow they succeed to make even a way way more bad movie in Die Hard 5 (which I don't even consider a Die Hard movie), Save you're self some time skip part 4 and 5. Also The General in Die Hard 2 comes from the same fictional country as the bad guy in this movie and also that fictional country is where Predator takes place so Commando, Die Hard and Predator all happen in the same universe :) . Fyi Pinko is could describe a "lighter form of communism"
Red = Russian Communist (Red army, etc. You probably know all that better than we could explain). "Pinko" is old American derogatory and aggressive slang for a person who is a Communist sympathizer (pink = tinge of Red).
🥳❤️
"Elite Squad- Tropa de Elite" please
2:15 - You can't take a tazer on a plane now, but I think it was allowed before 9/11. I know you could take a Swiss army knife on a plane before 9/11.
Dasha 🍒
Dasha if you loved the first Die Hard film then you'll love this film
What does that mean? The first movie is superior to this one.
@@SurvivorBri I know that, I'm just saying that the sequels are just as good as the first film
Hiya Dasha Glad You Enjoyed This NOT as Good as The First DIE HARD but still a Very Enjoyable Sequel. Please Check Out DIE HARD with a VENGEANCE i Think You WILL Enjoy That One.
Word of the day: Pinko. This is a rude term for communists that was common in the 60's to 80's. It might be worth diving into the US side of the Cold War starting from about 1946.
After World War 2, The US and USSR were on opposite sides of the same thin, silly coin. In the US we grew up hearing how the USSR wanted to destroy us and how evil they all were. It was common to refer to anyone from the USSR as "Red", as in the phrase "Better dead than Red." This got so bad in the late 1940's that actors and radio performers had to testify before Congress that they were not, not had they even been a communist sympathizer. Careers were ruined over it. To give you some idea of how bad it was, if this was 1950 (and RUclips existed) and It came out that I was subscribed to your channel back then, I could have been fired form just about any job I could have held. It doesn't matter what your content is, or what your politics are.The fact that I, an American, showed an interest to what someone from the (former) USSR had to say made me a probable enemy agent.
Pink is light red, and was used to describe the politics of anyone that leaned more toward socialism. For people on the conservative right (ironically, the red party in the US), Pinko meant anyone on the "left." This included most reporters, college professors, hippies, and civil rights leaders.
🌹
Love the way you say Twinkie
26:22 🔥 26:44 😂
Technically, "pinko" should be "communist light", but became more generalized.
People who clearly identify themselves as being on one side of the political spectrum or other will often exaggeratedly refer to people on the other side in the extreme, such as communist or fascist. In this sense, some staunchly right-wing or nationalist individuals (such as Colonel Stewart and his men) will use terms like "pinko" as a derogatory, because even though Samantha Coleman seems unlikely to be an actual communist (it was pretty uncommon by 1990), they view anyone left-leaning as equally bad as an actual communist.
(There were people who identified with and support communist ideals in the US, especially in the '60s, such as during the various anti-war and peace movements, and it was popularized by some of the Beatles, mostly as counterculture. It died down in the '80s and '90s, when this movie was set, and has only started to regain some popularity among some Millennials.)
