Clue is such a gem. Though the whole cast is fantastic, Tim Curry carries the film on his shoulders. His madcap recap/reenactment of the whole movie prior to the reveals is such an incredible performance. Definitely check him out in Ridley Scott's Legend (with Tom Cruise) and Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Dasha's love of Clue makes this so much better. Also, you have to be in the room where you make the accusation, therefore the running around. Didn't put that together when I watched it as a kid.
Also, look at the floor. It is just like the game board. When the movie was released to theaters, what ever theater you went to you could have seen a different ending.
I love the witty deadpan jokes that you can easily miss, like the one where Wadsworth says to Plum: “you once … specializing in helping paranoid and homicidal maniacs suffering from delusions of grandeur.” Plum: “Yes but now I work for the United Nations” Wadsworth: “Well your work has not changed…”
Christopher Lloyd was Doc Brown in first Back to the Future movie, also released in 1985. Dasha, glad you're not bored with board games! Loved your happy reaction to Clue movie!❤🎥

It's SO cute watching you geek out over all the game references. Don't apologize for it. The cast and how they play off one another in this is FANTASTIC. Wadsworth's surprised reaction to Green coming out is even funnier when you've seen the true ending. He's confusedly looking through the dossier because that's NOT what the real Green was being blackmailed for, and Wadsworth knows since he's actually the blackmailer. A lot of people miss it because she's speaking so softly, but when Yvette is killed her French accent drops, showing that she's not really who she claims to be. When the movie originally played in theaters the endings were random, so part of the draw was that you never knew which of them you'd see. Unfortunately, the stunt actually ended up hurting the film's box office.
Someone probably already said this, but when Clue came out in the theaters, it was released with each region of the country receiving a movie with a different ending. When the movie came out in VHS and later in CD's they added all endings together with the cards added to transition from one ending to another.
Dasha, your joy at watching this movie and realizing that it's based on your favourite board game was everything I could have wanted! As a game lover, it's so special seeing a game I love brought to life in a TV show or movie, and done really well.
*_CLUE!! The GREAT CLASSIC!! It is one of those movie that not only didn't get the respect it deserved when it first came out (But later became a cult classic!) but was WAAAAY ahead of it's time, with its multiple ending; which, when it played in theatres, had only one of the three endings playing in such a way that one would not know which ending they would get when they went in (I still maintain that, had that movie with those ending gimmicks come out in the heydays of Social Media: It would have created a fire storm of Tweets that would have made it the most watched and re-watched movie that year! I kinda wish some movie would do this. And somehow keep it secret at first. No advertising to ruin in. Just let viral marketing take the wheel. Like the blue gold/white yellow dress. Just sit back and let the internet go wild. Then after a month reveal the truth. Absolute chaos. And I agree. Best reaction I've seen to this movie.
Dasha, now you should watch "Murder By Death" (1977) "Clue" is more or less a remake of Murder by Death and Eileen Brenan (Mrs. Peacock) is actually in it as well. For some reason very few people ever mention it. If you like the comedy of Clue you will enjoy Murder by death with Peter Falk.
Your excitement that the characters were the same as the board game was delightful! I used to have such a crush on Lesley Ann Warren (Miss Scarlet) and that dress didn’t help! 😂
Their attention to detail was incredible. If I recall right, all the secret passages and the specific rooms they connect to were exactly the same as on the game board.
Great job Dasha! Another fun reaction to a classic movie. When you first said you liked the board game clue, I knew you'd like this movie. It was so much fun watching you enjoy it. Keep up the great work.
When this came out in the Theaters, Each was only had one ending, which Varied from Theater to Theater. All Three endings were added When it came out on VHS. The Floorplan of the first floor is exactly as it is in the Board Game.
Clue is amazing and multiple friends of mine often send me links to articles about Clue because I run a Clue LARP at gaming conventions. Thus, it is great to see another fan!
" I hated her sooooooo much... it... it... the... it... the... flames... flames... flames... on the side of my face... breathing... breathless... heaving breaths.." The only line adlib'ed in the whole film, and probably the greatest adlib in the history of cinema. Makes me laugh. Every. Single. Time. 😂
Clue, based upon the popular board game. Nice reaction Dasha, Priviet. Such a great cast in this classic. There are three alternate endings about who actually was the culprit. They all participated, usually out of revenge. Another 1985 film to check out would be Legend with Tim Curry aka the Butler, Tom Cruise, Mia Sara, and Billy Barty.
They made another board game that was a "sequel" to Clue. It was called Clue The Great Museum Caper. One person plays the thief trying to steal paintings from a museum. The rest play detectives trying to stop the thief. If the thief escapes he/she wins.
Im so excited for this! I just started but you mentioning you love this game made me happy! Ive watched so many of these reactions, and theyve never played the game or just once, so they miss so many connections. Im so glad to watch a fan of the game finally!
In the theaters, you only got to see one of the endings. You could tell which theater was playing which ending, based on who was holding the gun on the movie poster in the lobby of the theater.
Gosh I haven't played Clue in ages and this movie always makes me want to play the game! Great reaction Dasha! I could see the wheels turning in yor head to figure out who done it! Haha 😆 i luv all the alternative endings because thats exactly how it goes during the game with everyone giving their conclusion! So heres mine... I did it with the pipe wrench in the study!! Haha😂 Luv ya Dasha ❤️💛 Board games i like... Monopoly, clue, chess, Sorry , Risk, trivial pursuit and Life. I see you got the " thats what she said" joke in! I love it!!! 😂😂😂
During its theatrical run the each showing of the movie actually used only one of the endings. So you had to go to multiple showings to see all three. For the home movie release they chained them together and picked the last one as the final ending.
I think one of the best parts about this movie is that all the different showings in the theatres had a different ending of the three they showed, which made it very confusing when people who saw different showings talked about the ending 🤣
Great reaction to an awesome movie! When the movie was released to theaters each copy of it had just one ending. I remember a couple of friends of mine saw it with their parents at different theaters and they were confused when they were talking about it later because they had each seen a different ending. 😀 It wasn't until it came out on videotape that they put all three endings together. Originally they were going to have an ending for each person to be the murderer, but they only did three. And I like how Mr. Green's ending went. It never made sense to me playing the game that I would win by proving that I was the murderer, but in the movie Mr. Green's ending made sense. 😀 I also love the Clue game and I miss being able to play it. Wish you lived closer cos I'd play it with you any time! 🙂
As no one else said it. you have seen Tim Curry before, as the submarine's doctor in 'The Hunt for Red October'. I must admit I loved it when you said that when the crew sing, the Russian pronunciation is, diplomatically, 'rather suspect, I must work on my 'charity of thought'
Clue is a great movie and board game. I enjoy both when I was a kid I played a board game called 13 dead end drive. Excellent reaction as usual. I love your reactions for the insightful observations. You keep making reactions, I will keep watching them.
Clue is one of those I think you relearn to enjoy when you get older. I & most of my family & friends at least did along with other games like monoply or scotland yard among others which as kids seemed to be a bit longer & harder to play let alone win which i think impacts why people especially teens start to lose interest in playing them.
For me, this is a romance film because watching this caused one of the greatest relationships I had in life . Silliness is a great ice breaker when getting to know the right gal and this flick is perfect for that.
I loved Clue, but no one else I knew did. You didn't seem to recognize that Prof. Plum was Doc Brown from Back to the Future. Mrs. white was the singer from Blazing Saddles and the fiance from Young Frankenstein. Tim Curry was Frank N Furter from The Rocky Horror Picture Show (which you may not have seen). He's also been in a LOT of other things, but he's very good at not playing the same type of character. For a movie that is similar to this, but not based on a board game, you should check out Murder by Death. It's another murder comedy set in a mansion, but there's a lot of homework before you watch it. All the characters are parodies of other fictional detectives, so you need to be familiar with them. A few would make good reaction channel content (Maltese Falcon, the Thin Man), some would border on hate crimes (any of the Charlie Chan movies). The rest would probably be a little boring. (any Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot that aren't the new ones from Agatha Christie.)
Hey, Dasha! Kudos for reacting to this movie! It's definitely one of my favorites! I saw it in a theater and my multiplex in New York played all three options. You bought an A, B or C ticket which designated the auditorium the specific ending was featured in. I bought the VHS and then the DVD. I must have seen this film over thirty times! It never gets old. Tim Curry gives a tour-de-force performance as Wadsworth. Christopher "Doc Brown" Lloyd from "Back to the Future" played the licentious Prof. Plum! Madeline Kahn was a mainstay of Mel Brooks films. Michael McKean would later be a cast member of "Saturday Night Live". The cast are all comedy greats in perfect sync with each other. It's a wonderful little gem. There's been talk of a remake but this is a lightning-in-a-bottle situation like "Ghostbusters" or "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World!" A different cast would change the dynamic completely. Many reactors try to solve the murders but the crimes are incidental to the comedy! While all three solutions hold up under close scrutiny, you're not expected to identify the right culprit although there's no harm in trying. It's really just meant to be a madcap backstage farce all in good fun!
The board game is a perennial staple like Monopoly that's been around since 1949! The movie utilizes all the characters, weapons, rooms and secret passages that are components in the game. Boddy Mansion is the setting of the game and it is Mr. Boddy's murder players attempt to solve. Another good comedic whodunnit is "Murder By Death" which features parody versions of the great cinematic sleuths like Charlie Chan, Nick and Nora Charles, Sam Spade, Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple gathered together by real-life true-crime author Truman Capote. A terrific whodunnit with a psychological twist is "Identity"! Trivia unrelated to the production: Lesley Ann-Warren and Susan Sarandon have been mistaken for each other so often in real life that the actresses agreed to sign autographs using their doppelganger's name if erroneously requested by fans!
Dasha, this is perhaps my favorite movie reaction by you. I really loved it because you were SOOOO excited that the movie imitated the board game so well and I loved how described how much you love the game but many of your friends found it "boring". It was so much fun seeing you so excited when you realized this movie stayed within the guidelines of the board game including showing the "weapons". I played Clue so much years ago and much like you experienced, my friends got tired of it :( I like thinking I'm smart enough to figure things out, but of course, that wasn't always the result, haha. But, who cares if I won or lost, just playing Clue was fun, and yes, we laughed as we played. Such wonderful memories. I'm so happy that you enjoyed this movie so much and had so much fun with it. It's really a star-studded cast involved and the movie is a classic in so many ways! I've never seen someone react to this movie so wonderfully as you and only a TRUE Clue fan like yourself could deliver such a wonderful reaction.
6:04 "Are you trying to make me look stupid in front of the other guests?" "You don't need any help from _me,_ sir." 😒That was kind of a low blow. 😏I'm not criticizing, though.
This movie was my first time seeing Tim Curry on screen. It seemed like he was made for this role, then I started thinking that every time I saw him in something lol
If I remember correctly, there are 3 endings to the movie and "back in the day" depending on what theater you visited there was a different ending. Someone can help me if I'm remember that correctly. I was young when I saw it in the movie theater. I also think there are alternative endings on the DVD.
Fun fact: The original game, Cluedo, to give it it's proper name, is a British board game originally made by Waddingtons. The name is a mix of the words 'Clue' and Ludo, another popular board game which dates back to the 6th century(!) and the Latin word meaning 'I play'. It was licensed to Parker Brothers in the US who renamed it 'Clue' as Ludo wasn't well known in the US and the average American had little knowledge of Latin. These days it's owned by US company Hasbro. The butler is played by Tim Curry, best known as Frank N Furter in film version of The Rocky Horror Show.
I love the game of clue. I have been playing it recently with family, but my strategy is faulty. I always make a small mistake and it snowballs until I have to almost start over
I thought Clue was OK; it was a weak story but the wonderful actors went a long way in making it better than the script they were given. Something of a similar vein, as in a comedy who-done-it, is Murder by Death. The only issue is that for younger viewers they may not understand that all of the detectives are parodies of movies from the 30's and 40's and crime novels that preceded them. Sam Diamond = Sam Spade/ie Humphry Bogart Sidney Wang = Charlie Chan Milo Perrier = Hercule Poirot(Agatha Christie novels) Dick and Dora Charleston = Nick and Nora Charles(Thin Man series) Jessica Marbles = Miss Marple(again Christie novels)
Mrs White/Madeline Kahn was in a LOT of funny movies (especially ones with Mel Brooks) over the years. Anything that you get recommended to watch that her name is in the opening credits you are going to enjoy.
Clue is such a gem. Though the whole cast is fantastic, Tim Curry carries the film on his shoulders. His madcap recap/reenactment of the whole movie prior to the reveals is such an incredible performance.
Clue is one of my favorite board games as well!
Oh boy..she also likes boardgames. Dreamgirl right here.
The maid is kinda cute.
Colleen Camp 😍
Look up Death Game to see more of her 😅
This is a masterpiece of how to parody this mistery crime genre or shows like Hercule Poirot and other such shows or movies. Nice pick Dasha.
I played Clue so much years ago and much like you experienced, my friends got tired of it :(
I like thinking I'm smart enough to figure things out, but of course, that wasn't always the result, haha.
Clue is my favorite movie of ALL time!!!!! I’m so excited for your reaction 💜😊
00:59 give me a shout, I have The Simpsons Clue. No one ever wants to play it with me anymore.
I love Dashas joy while watching this
One of my favorite movies of all time!
6:04 "Are you trying to make me look stupid in front of the other guests?"
"You don't need any help from _me,_ sir."
😒That was kind of a low blow. 😏I'm not criticizing, though.
This movie was my first time seeing Tim Curry on screen. It seemed like he was made for this role, then I started thinking that every time I saw him in something lol
If you like Wadsworth the butler, the actor who plays him is also in The Rocky Horror Picture Show in a slightly different role.
Watching you cheer is almost as good as Tim Curry explaining the murders.😂
Recommend “Murder by Death” (1974). It’s a comedy/mystery with characters from mystery books and movies.
So excited to see your reaction to "Clue". It's my favorite watch once a year movie!
If I remember correctly, there are 3 endings to the movie and "back in the day" depending on what theater you visited there was a different ending.
Someone can help me if I'm remember that correctly. I was young when I saw it in the movie theater. I also think there are alternative endings on the DVD.
This movie was made in 1985, but it is set in 1954.
This is one of my all time favorite movies I at least watch it once or twice a year.
Played the game decades ago as a child.
😊great movie
I, _too,_ was quite fond of Clue when I was a kid. Looking back, though, I don't think I ever actually understood the rules.
Fun fact whenever they had this movie in theaters different theaters had one of the different endings.
Sam Diamond = Sam Spade/ie Humphry Bogart
Sidney Wang = Charlie Chan
Milo Perrier = Hercule Poirot(Agatha Christie novels)
Dick and Dora Charleston = Nick and Nora Charles(Thin Man series)
Jessica Marbles = Miss Marple(again Christie novels)
Mrs White/Madeline Kahn was in a LOT of funny movies (especially ones with Mel Brooks) over the years. Anything that you get recommended to watch that her name is in the opening credits you are going to enjoy.
My Brother was always Colonel Mustard
Since she loves board games, I wonder if Dasha will react to "Shogun" next?
I've never played Clue & I wouldn't mind playing with Dasha 😉🙂
Dasha's eyes are amazingly beautiful 😍❤️
