Dasha getting excited in anticipation of the creature effects when she recognized Stan Winston's name in the opening credits is part of makes her so wonderful. Most reactors wouldn't remember who he is.
In the original script, Arnold was supposed to win the hand to hand fight like he does in most of his action movies, but it was Arnold who said that wouldn't make sense because "He's a monster. I'm just a man," so the script was rewritten with Arnold getting his butt kicked and having to use his guerilla warfare expertise to defeat the Predator.
In the novelization, the Predator didn't have the invisibility/cloaking technology shown in the movie. Instead, it could shape shift to mimic something after it touched it.
Dasha would love "Twins" (1988) starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. It's really funny and touching, and Arnold gets to show his acting ability.
Since Dasha loves action movies and finds Hollywood versions of Russians interesting, she should watch "Nobody" (2021) starring Bob Odenkirk and Aleksey Serebryakov (an actual Russian actor from Moscow) as the chief Russian bad guy. It's got great action and is very funny too.

@@JustinWillisDevil240Z Dasha seems very alert in her thinking generally - plenty of reactors talk aloud, but Dasha's rare in that she *thinks* aloud, answering her own questions, quickly deducing the implications of certain images, etc. Many reactors are quite passive viewers and miss a lot of the things Dasha takes in her stride.

@@JustinWillisDevil240Z There's a bit in Alien where Brett stops and refreshes himself under falling drops of water - and I've seen other reactors say this is weird, or that it makes no sense, or that it must mean the alien has broken something - but only Dasha answered her own question with '...well, he's the engineer and he thinks it's okay, so it must be normal.' I fear most people are taught to be passive viewers these days, so it's very refreshing to see somebody constantly applying their intelligence to what they're watching.

Her deductive reasoning rivals the best of YT Reactors and moviegoers in general. 25:05 If you’re wondering why the Predator let Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger) go, you may recall an earlier scene in which Dutch told Anna (Elpidia Carrillo) not to pick up a gun from a recently-killed person, as this was what protected her from the Predator’s attacks (“Leave it. He didn’t kill you because you weren’t armed. No sport.”). I guess the Predator didn’t want to kill Dutch for the same reason at that point, so it engaged him in a more-honourable way: a hand-to-hand fight.
The Predator “talking” is just the recordings that it had already made of people’s voices. When it responded to Dutch’s “What the hell are you?” it was just using a recording of his voice, albeit much slower due to the damage done to it at that point. Its final laugh was actually the laugh that it recorded from Billy (Sonny Landham) when he reacted to that joke earlier.
One of the men in the helicopter at the end is actually the man who was inside the Predator suit: Kevin Peter Hall. He was over seven foot tall, so his height helped make the Predator more imposing. Sadly he died in 1991 aged just 35 (four years after _Predator_ first came out).

For that scene where they’re all firing into the forest at the same time, that’s actually an actual military tactic known as a “Mad Minute”, where you and all your squad mates select a specified target location where you think an enemy might be located, and for a full sixty seconds (one minute), you pump as much ammo as you can into that target area to either kill them or scare them out of hiding. It’s also part of military mindset and training, from everything I’ve heard. When an unknown enemy contact gets one of your guys, you don’t ask questions, you just fire at will.

To elaborate on your comment about their muscular manliness: The 80s had a lot of masculine action heroes. This movie is one of them but it has a twist. Usually the heroes like this are nearly unstoppable, like Arnold is in so many movies. But when faced with the predator Arnold stood no chance no matter how strong he was, and how many weapons he had. He had to change tactics and use strategy and cleverness to win, rather than brute strength. It may seem cheesy in many ways today, but it was such a welcome difference in action in a time where it was usually just explosions and muscles winning the day. It is why it is one of my all time favorite action movies.

2:20 "Long Tall Sally" by Little Richard
4:11 Your quick reaction from them tracking it to suddenly seeing the minigun was great. Arnold used one in Terminator 2, when they were in the laboratory, and he shot at the police cars.
This time, it was used by the man who "ain't got time to bleed", Jesse "The Body" Ventura, former professional wrestler and future former Governor of the state of Minnesota. So, there are two future U.S. governors here, because Arnold became Governor of the state of California.
It makes me wonder about the requirements.
"What qualifies you to govern our state?"
    "Well... I was in Predator"
21:20 Yes, Dasha. Yes, indeed. hahaha
Oh, the Predator's laugh at the end, was Billy's voice from when he laughed earlier at Poncho's bad joke. There was a moment earlier, when we saw the Predator's hand - you mentioned his long nails. At that moment, he mimicked Mac whispering "Any time", from after Dillon thanked him for the help with the scorpion.

If you like this, you should watch “First Blood”, which is a very similar movie, minus the sci-fi elements.

While Rambo uses many of the same guerilla tactics, Stylistically and thematically it's a VERY different film. It's not at all a macho action film. Rather it's built around an examination of PTSD and the scars left on veterans of the Vietnam War and the apathetic society they returned to.
It's the Rambo SEQUELS that turned it into Just Another Action Franchise.

Don't compare Rambo to this, while both good films, nothing in common.

Reactions where the person doesn't have any prior knowledge of the Predator's likeness, are THE BEST.

Dasha - as usual, a very good reaction! I guess the big, muscular guys get you *very* interested, yes?
If you want another great action movie with Arnold, check out his _"Total Recall"_ ... *lots* of action, a very cool story, and an ending to make you smile. Also, you should check out Arnold's _"Last Action Hero"_ ... so *much* action! And a really cool story, and so *many* funny parts, too!
    *Enjoy!*

She's just another real woman who loves real masculine men. Will the real men please stand up?!🧍‍♂️👨 Predator is timeless. In the late 80s, men wanted to be like these men, and women wanted to be with these men. This will never get old or go out of style.

Hey I love your reactions! Your commentary is really insightful. You’ve done so many great movies, but you’ve got to do Annie hall, I think you would really like the jokes. Totally your sense of humor! Keep it up dasha and good luck!
