What's scary about the Predator is that it's based on how humans hunt animals. Use of camouflage, mimicking the prey animals' calls, superior weaponry, ambush from the trees, etc.

I love Dutch's learning curve in this movie. It felt gradual and earned. After every encounter he learned from his mistakes and adjusted his tactics accordingly. He even got the drop on the Predator more than once, so it didn't feel like his victory was completely unrealistic.

I love the fact that Addie jumpscares every time the frame switches to "Predator's POV", even though it's just a normal thermal camera 🤣 (The Predator sees heat signatures)
Awesome reaction, btw, one of my favourite YT reactors :)
25:40 Predator is basically an elite hunter, and he takes trophies (bones, skulls and other stuff). He doesn't hunt for food or cause he must, he hunts for sport, forever seeking new challenges and a worthy opponent. He can be confused in several ways: as he sees heat signatures, you can block yours (by applying mud), or heat your environment up (by setting it on fire). That will confuse his targeting system and sight/preception in general.

Addie (as arnie goes over the falls): Can we get a break?
My gallows humour: Arm, leg, or neck? (for the break...)
Oh and for the record... it is a "trophy hunter" there is no point in it just the trophy. It wants to test the best among human warriors and meet them in "fair" combat... and kill the best.

Unlike most humans, he does not hunt for food, he hunts purely for the challenge and sport of the hunt.
    Interesting fact about this movie.
It boasts three politicians in the cast.
Arnold Schwarzenegger went on to become the governor of California.
Jesse Ventura went on to become the governor of Minnesota.
Sonny Landham ran for office three times in Kentucky.
Mr. Landham ran for governor of Kentucky but failed to gain his party's nomination in the primaries.

"Let's get muddy!" - line of the video. :)
In answer to your question, the reason the Predator does it is for sport. It likes hunting. It picks soldiers and other "dangerous" people (which is why it leaves Anna alive. Dutch says "it didn't kill you because you were unarmed. No sport."). It collects skulls of "worthy" opponents as trophies, like Billy because he challenged the Predator in melee combat rather than using guns.

    YES!!!
MY #1 FAVORITE ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER MOVIE!
Facts you didn't know about the movie:
Jean Claude van Damme played the Predator in some parts of the movie, but quit production as he was tired of wearing the original suit which looked like a lizard insect hybrid.
He even wanted to kickbox Arnold but the producers refused.
Kevin Peter Hall, RIP, was cast as the titular character as he was more of an intimidating opponent for Arnold's character Dutch being 7'2".
The PREDATOR suit was designed by Oscar Winning VFX company Stan Winston Studios and would later return to the franchise for PREDATOR 2 in 1990.
The design of the Predator was based on the painting of a Rastafarian warrior that Joel Silver had in his office.
The mandibles were James Cameron's idea, as both him and Stan Winston were flying to Japan to promote ALIENS.
Half the cast and crew got food poisoning except for Arnold and Director McTiernan whom ate Spaghetti O's and PBJ Sandwiches. Schwarzenegger would later hire his own personal Chef to give the actors the food they needed but no hot meals were allowed due to the heat wave in Mexico so they ate protein bars instead.
The producers hired a bodyguard to protect people from Sonny Landham, RIP whom played Billy, as he was prone to violent outbursts.
Landham said in an interview that "We weren't making a movie, it was a survival story for all of us."
The stuntman that falls off the cliff and lands in the water blew out his kneecap.
It was 110 degrees in the shade while it was 42 degrees due to rain that lasted 2 weeks, making filming even more difficult.
The film was a box office success, making $100 million dollars ($470 million dollars today) against an $18 million dollar budget.
It was nominated for Best Visual Effects but lost to InnerSpace.
It's been confirmed as one of the best Sci-fi Action movies ever made.

@Addie Counts the predator speices is called the Yautja. It does what it does because he is a trophy hunter. It only hunts those who are "worthy quarry" it's entire culture revolves are hunting for sport and glory. It won't hunt a target that it thinks isn't worth it's time, such as individuals who are sick, weak, unarmed, or pregnant. it won't kill kill those individuals because their is no "honor " in doing that.
Basically the best way to survive against the predator is to simply not be armed with any weapons and look as non-threatening as possible.

Only when Arnold started acting like a hunter, did he make a difference. _He_ put on camo, _he_ set traps and then it was the _predator_ that was firing blindly, it was the _predator_ being hunted. I think 'son of a choppa' is my new go-to phrase when I need to keep it clean . . . . When you asked if Anna knew anything, her accent makes it a bit hard to make out: 'The Demon that makes trophies of man'.
Just wanted to add: Your editing on this is great. You've managed to keep the flow of the movie beats intact.

And major props to you for not only sitting through this action packed, suspenseful movie, but also bitting the bullet on your Ophidophobia throughout every single Indiana Jones movie. Don’t be afraid to react to more lighthearted movies either. For that Genre I’d recommended “Twins” staring both Arnold and Danny Devito as brothers if you can believe it! LOL! 😊

The Predator's "thing" was to go to Earth to hunt humans, but not just any human. Like a hunter, the Predator liked the thrill of going after a 'warrior human', kind of like going after a 10 point buck.
The Predator had a huge advantage, since it already know what the game was, and had advance technology, while the humans had to figure out what the Predator even WAS, let alone how to deal with it.
When Billy tossed his gun, and cut himself with a big knife, he was doing some Native American ritual to prepare for death.

I think no one has said it, a couple of facts that everyone knows:
1.-The first actor chosen to play the yautja (the species of the creature) was Jean-Claude Van Damme.
2.-The second actor who played the yautja was Kevin Peter Hall, who was 2.20 meters tall (7ft 2.7in). He also appears at the end of the film, playing the helicopter pilot.

This is EASILY one of the greatest teen-slasher type movies ever made, mostly because it doesn't actually start like most movies in the genre, and Arnie is one of the most iconic Final Girls ever committed to film

    • @Deined
      @Deined Год назад

Teens? Arnie a "Final girl"? WTF are you on??🙄
Predator's really sci-fi/action/horror. Thank God there were no teens, or the climactic fight would've been beyond ridiculous.

    • @DavidGowers
      @DavidGowers Год назад

@Deined dude, it's a slasher movie. I mentioned "teen" because they're the most common protagonists in slashers. The lone survivor at the end of a slasher movie is called the Final Girl, even if they're a guy. Therefore, Arnie is a Final Girl.
