I was stunt with her form and dull grey colours that gave me the feeling of something sad. I searched it up watched the anime. I fell in love with the medium because of her!!! And I am a graphic designer partially 'cause of that ad! So yeah, I am gonna order these hardcovers!!!!!! Amazing review!

I remember reading the original VIZ book of Battle Angel Alita. Read that sucker in one sitting, and it blew my lil mind away. I loved the dark aesthetic, the grotesque artwork in some places, Alita's feats of prowess (Remember when she curled all of those thugs in that bar into a ball, and threw them out?) and the fact that the main villian, despite being a brain eating monster, had a tragic backstory. As a Teen, I was getting all of that Disney stuff faded out of me, and I was exposed to stuff like Ninja Scroll, End of Evangelion, and of course Battle Angel Alita. Nice work on the retrospective Near Mint, I'm gonna be sure to pick up that BIG Alita book with the color pages, because damn I miss Alita now.

Bought the hardcover of this and realized that the story is actually really good and simple so far. I actually appreciate a lot of the world and architecture as an adult now so it's quite a treat.
That’s all I needed to hear this is in your Too Ten Manga of all time Omar ! Definitely purchasing the six hard cover volumes from Amazon and am psyched because I saw a re-release of the film on the big screen yesterday and second time around was a thousand times better than the first !
Which means that there are more stories or books about Alita no just that one episode the classic one well I just new about alita anime and I am fascinated !

Battle angel is one of my favorite animes, even though it’s only 2 episodes. I think it’s the best work of nobuteru yuuki, and he’s one of the best draftsmen in animation history.
I just hope it gets done into a great Anime that's at least 39 - 50+ episodes,done by a top studio,and a GITS sac level budget for keyframes,etc,with little to zero 3d cg.

I JUST finished reading battle angel, and I absolutely loved it. The original ending was a bit rushed I feel, but I still think it ended well. For some reason though, I’m hesitant to move on to last order. I feel like it’s not going to be anything like the original, in the sense that we won’t be seeing old characters that much and it will be Alita with a new group of people. If anyone could help me make this decision it would be appreciated
Well it's his vision right? Like it or not much like Lucas and episode 1,2 and 3 it's what he wanted to do. I myself got bored with Last Order, but I need to finish it and jump on Martian Chronicles. If they give Last Order the box set treatment, i will be in for sure! :)
I just got the deluxe box set. About halfway through the first volume. So far I've only watched the OVAs, but what I've seen so far this manga is really, really good. Love the quality of these newer releases.
The original, larger version, was the Left to Right one. As you can see by just looking at which side the cover is on at 4:33 when you say it's Right to Left...

You were wondering why this new edition left out the final chapter if the Yugo arc, which was the final chapter in your old second volume. I can answer that: they didn't change anything. What actually happened was that some editions moved the final Makaku chapter (ch7) from it's original place as the first chapter of volume 2 to the last chapter of volume 1. Likewise with the final chapter of the Yugo arc (ch12) which got moved from the original place as first chapter of volume 3 to the last chapter of volume 2. So this new Deluxe Edition undid that change and moved it back to its original spot. The reason why some of the older editions moved those 2 chapters is probably because they wanted to end the arc within the volume. That makes so much sense, because Viz was notorious for moving chapters or just removing them all together. In the case of older manga like Lum, Fist of the Northstar and Maison Ikkoku to name a few. I guess Dark Horse was guilty of that too with Oh My goddess and 3x3 Eyes.

At 4:29 you said that that there were two prior releases with the original being right to left. However my 1995 VIZ release of volume 1 reads left to right.
The original releases are read left to right. Like the one in the video. I was under the impression that the smaller second release was read right to left.

Hi .... I heard in the past that the smaller second collected release by Viz had a different ending in the 9th volume than in the 9 volumes you have there .... So the story could continue in the Viz Last Order volumes and all of those volumes would match up. But like you said .... I wonder what ending the deluxe editions and also the movie will have. .... Will they both have the same ending or different ones ? .... They may only have one chance to make a single movie .. would they have a open ending that might never get a definitive finish.
I was thinking of doing an overview of the five volumes that Kodansha is putting out after they are all out and do a comparison to the original ending. I am really curious as well.
I think we can assume that both versions will be included in the Deluxe 5. If volumes 1-8 are in Deluxe 1-4 (2 volumes in a deluxe book) I think they will put both volume 9a and 9b to the Deluxe 5, based on the page count on Amazon. Also, they just announced a boxset coming in December, containing the 5 Deluxe books along with a bonus books with the short stories (that will be available on its own too!). Quick question! I just purchased this yesterday and I wish it was left to right western style. It is going to take some getting used to.... Right to left pages is one thing, but all the boxes right to left is throwing me off. Anyways I'm sure it is worth it.

how does this book compare in quality and format to the gundam the origin manga release from vertical wich are the best quality physical releases ever?
Volumes 1-5 of the Deluxe Editions collects Battle Angel Alita Volumes 1-9 + the spin-of "Ashen Victor". Then, a 6th book will collects the short stories.
Rally is a close second, she is a complete badass....and that car....that beautiful car!!! To that list I would add Major Kusunagi, Clay, Basara and Shampoo. :)
Are there 9 or 5 volumes in the series, because in this deluxe edition there is 5 but I looked up places where I could be getting the manga but I found out there is 9 so I wasn't sure if this just didn't have all the volumes or if all 9 were put into the 5 books?

The 9 books were made into five Hardcover books and that's what's cover here. I'm going to do an unboxing video of the box set today or tomorrow so keep an eye on the channel to see if you like what you see.
Really like how publishers are bringing back old out of print classics in these high quality hardcovers, hope that others will get the same treatment.
I would buy so many old manga in new format all day EVERY DAY! They do a DBZ, Ranma or finish out Pineapple Army in HC format and I'll be broke.

my copy arrived today... and i loves it. But i kinda wish paper was a bit thicker
The glossy paper seems thin, but honestly there are no bleed thrus so I'm okay with it. The color pages seem thicker than the B&W pages too.
i'm fine with the print, this way we get more of them on the comicbookshelf. I'm glad this started just as blame deluxe editions ended.

5 will be the last one, but there is another book with extras and stories that have never been printed in English.

Hi .... I heard in the past that the smaller second collected release by Viz had a different ending in the 9th volume than in the 9 volumes you have there .... So the story could continue in the Viz Last Order volumes and all of those volumes would match up.
But like you said .... I wonder what ending the deluxe editions and also the movie will have. .... Will they both have the same ending or different ones ? .... They may only have one chance to make a single movie .. would they have a open ending that might never get a definitive finish.
I was thinking of doing an overview of the five volumes that Kodansha is putting out after they are all out and do a comparison to the original ending. I am really curious as well.
I think we can assume that both versions will be included in the Deluxe 5. If volumes 1-8 are in Deluxe 1-4 (2 volumes in a deluxe book) I think they will put both volume 9a and 9b to the Deluxe 5, based on the page count on Amazon. Also, they just announced a boxset coming in December, containing the 5 Deluxe books along with a bonus books with the short stories (that will be available on its own too!). Quick question! I see that you have the Omnibus of Last Order 1-5, but do you also have the last volumes 16-19?
I just purchased this yesterday and I wish it was left to right western style. It is going to take some getting used to.... Right to left pages is one thing, but all the boxes right to left is throwing me off. Anyways I'm sure it is worth it.
I think the only way to read them that way is to get the original Viz series.

Near Mint Condition the perfect collection for Alita. I was looking on Amazon and noticed them selling the perfect collection and the Deluxe edition and was wondering what was the difference.
I dont think the perfect collection is released in English that is more of a German release.

So i just found out about this. My question is.... is the Delux Editions same as Last Order? or is the last order completely different story (sort of like Dragon Ball GT) that happens after Delux Editions. I just want to figure out if i need to get both last order and delux editions or only need Delux Editions

papel couche not my fav for manga. I would wish a nice and clean bond paper as the Viz Big Dragon Ball mangas (includes color pages as well)
I really dig the glossy paper, its thinner than I would like, but for the price I can't complain too much.
how does this book compare in quality and format to the gundam the origin manga release from vertical wich are the best quality physical releases ever?
It's a little bigger in size and they are using a thicker glossier paper for the pages.

Volumes 1-5 of the Deluxe Editions collects Battle Angel Alita Volumes 1-9 + the spin-of "Ashen Victor". Then, a 6th book will collects the short stories.

I would disagree with you on the best female lead of all times, that would go to Rally Vincent of Gunsmith Cats in my opinion.
Rally is a close second, she is a complete badass....and that car....that beautiful car!!! To that list I would add Major Kusunagi, Clay, Basara and Shampoo. :)

Are there 9 or 5 volumes in the series, because in this deluxe edition there is 5 but I looked up places where I could be getting the manga but I found out there is 9 so I wasn't sure if this just didn't have all the volumes or if all 9 were put into the 5 books?
The nine original volumes are reprinted in these HCs along with Ashen Victor and other stories.
does it include the sequals too? like the Last Order and Mars Chronicles ?
No it doesn't. I hope they give those the HC treatment too. As much as I didn't care for the the last half of Last Order.

The 9 books were made into five Hardcover books and that's what's cover here. I'm going to do an unboxing video of the box set today or tomorrow so keep an eye on the channel to see if you like what you see.

They are your standard manga sized books. The omnibus editions are three of the smaller volumes put together and don't include any color pages.

Just five of the Oversized hardcovers and a sixth volume that has the extra stories. There is a box set that contains all the volumes too.
