After the movie I have wanted to read this desperately!!!! I love the hardcovers art!! Also I absolutely love the channel, been my favorite channel for years now!!
For those wondering, the paperbacks do NOT include the original ending or Ashen Victor. That being said, if you don't care about having a consistent format, then getting the 6 paperback volumes, Deluxe vol 5, and Holy Nights is cheaper then getting the box set or the individual deluxe volumes and Holy Nights.
We just sold our last box-sets, let's hope for a reprint soon. And while it might be obvious to go with the HCs, the new paperback with cheaper, but more textured paper might also help the art in a way. However, great overview as always. 👍
Thanks Omar ! So when I saw Battle Angel Alita the first time I liked it and that was that . However- last year during lock downs they re-released the film and I was BLOWN AWAY saw it two more times and it’s just simply sensational James Cameron at his finest ;-)
The hardcover is so expensive here that I am very thankful that Kodansha is releasing a more affordable paperback! The box set is like, $300 dollars here :(
Great stuff bro! I got introduced to Alita via the movie and it became an instant favorite. I watched it several times on the big screen. I also picked up the full deluxe collection, the art and making of the movie book and Dr. Ido’s Journal. Of course the collection was not complete without the Best Buy steel book. I just might have to watch it again soon! Let’s get “More Movie of the Girl Called Alita”! 😀
Your battle angel alita videos are great Omar!!! I have been enjoying them and I am going to get the deluxe edition Boxset of the battle angel alita manga’s next month for my 28th birthday and I am so excited!!!
My all-time favorite manga series! (I haven't read all of Akira but the film is a classic) I still love my original (American) tonkobons but the deluxe edition is the way to go, even though I prefer some of the original names and such. I still think of the city as Tiphares.
Thanks for this, I was wondering how it would be different ever since the version got announced.Since it has the same translation I'm just sticking to my deluxe editions
Thank you for doing a comparison between the deluxe edition & the new omnibus edition, think I'll wait till vol. 3 of the omnis drop & start picking them up from there. Question tho: Are the spin-off series also in a similar size/format as the omnibus editions of the original series? I'm not too bothered by size differences, but would like to keep it uniform if possible. Sorry if this was too much writing.
I've got an original tankoubon somewhere that's right-to-left (purchased in UK), and noted some other translation differences with the Deluxe edition which seemed odd/unnecessary, but I haven't got any copies to hand at the moment so can't remember what the differences were. Overall the Deluxe is a very nice edition.
Now that all of these paperbacks are out, does anyone know if they contain the short stories or any other additional content? I want to buy everything Alita now but don’t want to get any duplicate material by accident.
Minor correction, the Ashen Victor Story is actually included in the 5th Deluxe Edition after the main story ends and not in the 6th and final hardcover with further bonus stories like you say in the video
Sounds like that would be closer to the Japanese pronunciation. I cant tell by the way you wrote it but it the first part was pronounced more like "Zah" instead of "Zay" then I'm guessing that's how they pronounce it in Japan. Could be wrong though.
Please mention the size of the hardcover of these books especially when comparing. I don’t understand why so many people on RUclips don’t do that. I wish there was more discussion on comics format. Maybe hardcover is not as important or popular or affordable enough enough to US comic buyers because the cost is usually higher on average. In the US we still have comic format that is literally a staple fragile little pamphlet! As a kid I would hold it nervously trying not to damage it which made me shake more. I can’t believe the format still survives, even more extreme is people going crazy to compare how many bends and tears to find an old fragile pamphlet thing and pay big bucks instead of buying a beautiful quality format that doesn’t disintegrate if you accidentally sneeze while holding it. It’s now even more extreme as sellers charge crazy amounts for a variant cover, sometimes pulling a bait and switch with poor unrelated art inside. Even with a thicker cover its a rippoff to charge $20 to hundreds for that. Even the poor mom and pop comic shops get forced into buying more units to score a variant incentive cover. When an omnibus is released we’re lucky if it makes it to 12 x 9 inches. Europeans get beautiful hardcover books for comics even with only 50 pages for 20 Euros. I have multiple French Comics(I can barely read French) imported and some are finally coming out in English the US but of course they have to make them atleast inch smaller and cut corners. I guess not enough demand in the US and apparently Japan as well for large HC books. That’s why I jump on it when I see a Kickstarter, or IDW Artist Edition, or a big popular title I like gets an Absolute Sandman leatherbound 16 inches tall I buy it.
Hi Omar, would you happen to know what ending the Vol. 6 paperback will have? I know from the box set review you did both endings were inserted in the deluxe edition. Thanks in advance
Hello Omar, I'm just aking one thing. It was worth for me to buy battle angel alita vol 1 from viz media(out of print volume) for 5€=5$. It was in bad condition(yellow pages and a liitle bit hurt on the back and on the sides of the volume. I will be happy if you answer me.
The Deluxe Editions are actually sooooooooooooooooooooooooo much easier to handle on the go compared to Dark Horse Deluxe Editions. They are leaner, just as tall and sooooooooo beautiful
It was a pretty early manga for me. The writing itself is a little wonky (a lot of scifi and worldbuilding terms thrown at you with not-the-best dialogue) and I can't say every story beat felt satisfying. But by the time I got a few arcs (and timeskips) in, I was absolutely hooked. I'm almost done with Last Order now
Minor correction, the Ashen Victor Story is actually included in the 5th Deluxe Edition after the main story ends and not in the 6th and final hardcover with further bonus stories like you say in the video
If you're a fan of Berserk, then Battle Angel Alita is kinda like the cyberpunk cousin of Berserk. Great series
Awesome ! I only seen the movie
nah
@@kidrobot.Yea is not almost like that but its close, not a bad story at all
What nah? Alita was far more consistent than Berserk.... You guys are just tripping @@kidrobot.

Everytime I watch one of your videos, my bank balance reduces
Omar’s running ‘Japan’ clip gag is great.
Interesting to see the comparison between the two. Thanks Omar!
Thank you for this video. Battle Angel is my all time fav series.

Deluxe edition for the win.
I prefer the bigger hard cover version myself.

The box set is the way to go!
Looks like the Deluxe HC vol 1 is sold out at CGN. The other 4 volumes are in stock though and the box set is special order.
Still available on Amazon if you're looking for a copy.
This is exactly what I wanted to know. Thank you ! Love from India!

Is it included in the paperback version?
This series remains a classic.
For some reason, the movie called the floating city "ZALL-UM". I thought that was odd.
Sounds like that would be closer to the Japanese pronunciation. I cant tell by the way you wrote it but it the first part was pronounced more like "Zah" instead of "Zay" then I'm guessing that's how they pronounce it in Japan. Could be wrong though.
@@mulder13x59 that would make sense. It can be hard to figure out logic with Hollywood sometimes. Lol

is there a size difference between these new paperbacks and Last Order and Mars Chronicle?

Omar whatever happened to your family’s video on the X-Men mighty marvel masterworks?
What about the Loot Crate version of Alita vol 1? Is that the same as the tankobon?
Is there a difference with the loot crate edition volume 1?
Does the deluxe edition have multiple volumes that complete the run?
I think deluxe edition has 5-6 volumes. Search for the box set
There was a box set of the manga deluxe edition but I think it’s OOP
Any word on the sequel/prequel series getting snazzy editions? Loved the first Alita series, do not like those tiny paperbacks.
WOOT!!! WOOT!!!

So this version is read as a American Graphic novel and not as a traditional manga right?
It still reads right to left. I compared it to my original version that reads like American Graphic novels.
Hardcover 30 dollars not bad price . Non hardcover 12 dollars a great deal .
If this new paperback edition had color pages it would be awesome but now I'm a little disappointed
This manga was owned by Viz Media and now Kodansha.
Eclipse first who was really Viz and now Kodansha.
😎😎
Hmm
Hi
Hey
Zalem-- pronounce a as the short "a" ah zahlem. Translates from arabic to "the oppressor"
Are these the same books from the box set? Did they have color pages too?
The HCs are the same books the small ones do not have color.
