Gary England was the best. I love how he always addressed the kids at home alone. Slowed his voice, calm... so many now adults will say how much he helped them to know what to do, and stay calm.

I cant watch David at times, that guy has always gotten amped up like some cracked out weather goblin thats about to tackle the greenscreen in a futile attempt to fight the weather in hand to hand combat. Like I remember when he was a spotter himself and hed have to be told to calm down lol

@@jeffbryner5355 Morgan can’t get jacked anymore after telling everyone to drive south on May 31st and putting thousands at risk.

Dave Freeman did the same with his coverage of the Greensburg, Kansas tornado on May 4th, 2007. Dave told any children who were either home alone or with a babysitter due to their parents being out to dinner as it was a Friday night and no doubt scared to death that if they followed his advice they would be safe. Dave told them that he understood they were scared; but they had to be brave and turn up the volume on the TV or the computer speakers or the radio so they could hear him as they took shelter. Dave told the kids to take shelter in the center of the basement and underneath a workbench or the stairs to the basement. Something tells me that the kids who followed Dave's advice that night are now parents themselves and use his advice with their own children to keep them safe in the event of a tornado and they are either home alone or with a babysitter.

That was a long day, and a long night too. I do miss hearing Gary's voice, even though he was covering some scary stuff it was always his calm professionalism that made such a difference no matter what weather it was, "Here are the facts and this is what I want you to do..." and I think we all understood when he said, "Hey kids," he meant all of us no matter how old we were or how many tornado seasons we had been through, but it was especially comforting to kids and visitors/newcomers to our state. This was a legendary storm though. I still remember the heaviness of the air that morning.

I was a senior at chickasha we chased it from pocasset to Tuttle staying on the north side of it. Ohp stopped us on 37 between tuttle and tri city. After a firm ass chewing for being dumb we headed home that trooper probably saved our lives because our plan was to drive to 44 and head north it would have turned right into us.

This was like yesterday for me. I remember each and every detail. My grandmother lost her home and so many others. The debris, the way it looked like a bomb went off, and the sounds all concreted inside my, then, 15-year-old mind.

Gary England was the best. The only one that comes close is Damon. The voice of reason and calm. I don’t know how Payne turned into such a fear mongering caster while working with Gary.

The problem with 1999 is most likely 360p.

It came in perfect when aired live. The problem when transferring video to digital formats is that it looses quality. I remember watching things in the 90's that came in perfect live but when recorded on video, it degrades the quality. If you had a great signal live analog Television usually came in picture perfect.

Gary didn't have some of the equipment that David has now but at least he had Val and Amy. I remember being glued to the TV with my family in Stillwater, was a tragic experience for many Oklahomans. Thanks News9 for tracking and reporting on these dangerous tornadoes.
