Oklahoma History: 24 Years Since May 3, 1999 Tornado Outbreak

It's been 24 years since 74 tornadoes touched down across Kansas and Oklahoma in less than 21 hours.

I can still remember the entire day like it happened yesterday. Climbing out of the rubble, helping look for others. Never experienced a day that bad since.

While the May 3rd, 1999 tornado that devastated Moore, Oklahoma was rather costly in terms of damages; the tornado that hit Joplin, Missouri on May 22nd, 2011 is still the costliest on record at $2.8 billion dollars in 2011 USD.
