    Both TVs are AMAZING. After comparing for a couple days, You can’t go wrong either way. The camera doesn’t do neither of them justice. It blows out the Z9J because it’s so bright and makes the A90J look more blue and dim than it really is. But IMO the detail, color volume and brightness on the Z9J is breathtaking and makes for a better overall picture and experience. Have to see them in person side by side to tell the difference. This video is a good gauge.

I know it doesn't have VRR but we not trying to win a competition or anything. But if u gamed on the series x or your ps5 how would u say it is. Bad latency or is it good? Thanks for the video comparison man

    I think I saw you being trolled on AVS forums cause I recognize that picture of the two TVs. Sony just sent me a Z-9 for a defective Z8 and it is freaking amazing. I thought the Z8 was incredible and this is another step beyond. I too prefer LCD because oled is too dim for me . I can see how it would be good if you watch TV or game in complete darkness but otherwise it’s just not bright enough. This TV shows you the real power of bright HDR content. It looks like real life.

      @IntotheFurther.  2 года назад +1

      Yes local dimming works fully while in game mode. But it does not work when using VRR. No TV has fully functional local dimming while using VRR. Samsungs local dimming partially works when using VRR. I always play in high fidelity mode anyway over high frame rate mode so I always have fully functioning local dimming. Not an issue for me. I’m fine not using VRR.

    Sony z9j 85 inch or Sony x95k 85 inch? How far apart are these two sets? Throw 8k out the window because the z9j will not play native 8k anything lol. The upscaling on 8k is where i see differences. contrast wise is the x95k better than z9j?

    • @IntotheFurther.

      X95K has better black levels, contrast & blooming control. Z9J gets much brighter with good black levels but not as good as the X95K. If you really want a nice bright picture with lots of clarity go for the Z9J. If you want a LED with excellent black levels and blooming control that still gets bright go with 85” X95K

    I loved my 65 a90j so much I bought a second one in 83”. But now I may return it for a z9j which would be an ideal fit for a bright and dark living room. Plus I get to enjoy the best of both worlds. What’s nice about your video is not only do you see how great and how bright the z9j is…but also how incredibly punchy and impactful that a90j is, while also still being an oled with those incredible black levels. Thanks so much for making this comparison! Very informative! Question-what about the viewing angles for the Z9J? I noticed (understand these 2 large tvs were in that relatively small area) that the camera was more straight on or perpendicular to the a90j (floor) while it was at an angle with the z9j like a 30 deg angle or thereabouts my guess. So my understanding is that there was some washout already on the z9J AS VIEWED by the camera position. Any feedback highly appreciated! Thanks again!

    • @IntotheFurther.
      @IntotheFurther.  2 года назад

      The viewing angle on the Z9J is good at the 85” size because you really have to move off axis to see color shift. But as with all VA type LEDs, there will be some defeatism as you move. Can’t be extreme left or right.

    It's really interesting, I've been struggling with the choice for a 77" for my living room. I thought the A80J looked better than the LG C1, so I was going to go that route. Your naked eye is probably better, the A90J (aside from the blue-ish hue) looked better on your phone than the Z9J. Color range definitely was better on the Z9J. I thought I had made up my mind, but now I have to take another trip to BestBuy. Thanks for adding this one to my consideration list.

    • @dr.t6332

      Go to the Bestbuy Magnolia room. I wouldn't bother looking at TVs with the prerecorded, sales video on the main floor. Your TV won't look as good at home so it's best to look at normal videos on tv's in the Magnolia room.
      I have a 85" Z9G at home. I also have several top of the line Sony 4K tv's. Z9g and Z9j are clearly better than any 4k tv. RUclips videos don't really show the real beauty of Sony 8k tv's. The cameras used to record the videos, and the devices used to watch the videos, don't have enough resolution to adequately show what's on the 8K, 33 million pixel TVs. In person, the difference is blatantly obvious. No 4K TV comes close to a Sony 8K TV with 4000 nits (Z9G and Z9J).
      I've seen some other brand 8K tv's that look no better than their 4K counterparts (to me). I have attributed that difference to the other brand's inability to upscale the HD and UHD content to 8k as effectively as Sony.
      The only thing is that if you really want to have the best image currently available... you're gonna have to pay for it. Lol
      If you can afford it, I would go with Sony 8K TV.

There is no need to be dropping 5 figures on a TV. Those who can or have, more power to em. But I went with the X95K, and saved some money for a few nights out with the wife and daughter, family vacation, etc. I think it will be a great TV until the Z9K comes down in price a bit. See I was already at an 83” A90J and I didn’t wanna go down to the 75” with the Z9K. So 85” X95K for the win!

    Tbh dude I can't go by anything here because yoy showed no settings. I know how good both are but the a90j can also raise the color and areas. See that damages like the couch being so deep. Add to the image and boom you get rhe best of both worlds tbh I can't get past the depth on the a90j tbh in person it's very noticeable and it's my preference lol I'm very excited to see the z9k as I feel the z9k is the best led tv I've ever seen.

      Here’s the thing you can raise the color and areas on the A90J via ACE but it will not stop the A90J from tone mapping scenes above it’s max nits.
      Contrary to popular opinion the A90J can hit above 1000nit but not in custom and more accurate modes but Vivid and only for a short time. The Z9J can Hit 1000 plus and 2000plus in custom cinema mode in vivid mode the Z9J gets close to 4000nits.
      The ACE on the A90J will make it perceiveably brighter but it will not add any nits to the image. And let’s get back to tone mapping because again most people don’t seem to understand despite OLED’s great contrast as I own one as well so I know. OLED have to tone map because most OLED outside of the S95B, A95K, and LG G2 max out at around 650 to 700 nits.
      In a full 100% window OLED’s max out at 150 or so nits whereas the Z9J maxes out at 750 or so nits. So when you tone map anything above 700 nits get clipped or they lose information so to compensate OLED’s tone map and lower the color range and saturation for anything above 700nits making the scenes dimmer and less impactful whereas the Z9J does not need to tone map and the scene is bright and vibrant and no loss of saturation and information and no clipping unless it is mastered at 4000 nits.
      Also let’s not forget about ABL another problem about OLED.

  • @truthseeker5079
    @truthseeker5079 2 года назад +3

    OLED has it's place and the contrast of an OLED is impressive, but people in the AV RUclips space like to dismiss LED technology like it's light-years behind OLED. The truth is LCD tvs can pull off brightness an OLED only wishes it could pull off. The color saturation and brightness more often then not makes LCDs pop in a way that OLED just don't. A lot of people say get an LCDs if you have bright room, but truth is LCDs are excellent for dark rooms too especially the black levels straight good.

    Hello! Faced with a painful choice. Always been an Oled fan. But my LG C8 burned out. Decided to take the X95J. But I ran into a terrible DSE. Then I bought 83A90J. But because of the banding, I had to return it, there was a huge strip in the middle! Sometimes seen on light content and DSE test. I looked at a few more copies, but there are no ideal ones and I already fear that there will also be a problem on real content! Therefore, I began to consider z9j, but because of the budget, not 85 diagonal, but 75. What repels buying is halos around luminous objects and the lack of VRR. Tell me that it is still better to take 83A90j or 75z9j. Is black good in Z9j? In Oled it infects, no ghosting! How bad is the ghosting problem in Z9j, are there any problems with DSE like in x95 and have VRR support been added?

      After having the Z9J & A90J side by side in my home for a few days I beg to differ. Blooming is minimal to non existent in actual content on the Z9J especially with local dimming set to high. Pixel response on the Z9J panel is superb so no ghosting. This isn’t your average LED. As far as near black, it’s handled way better on the Z9J and my A90J was calibrated. OLED has issues with near black. It’s an inherent issue with OLED tech. The shadow detail excels on the Z9J while on the A90J it was just good for an OLED. Way better than LG OLEDs for sure. And the Z9J provided a brighter, more colorful picture overall. Especially gaming. Both are great sets, but for the overall package and experience I prefer the Z9J.
