Hey man as someone who waited for a price drop and is awaiting delivery of an 83” A90J this week, is there a difference between first batch and the ones they’re sending out now? 👀
83” wouldn’t fit in my space and 65” was too small for me, so an A90J was out of the picture for me. I opted for the 77” A80J and it’s amazing! Brandon, I think the A90J is both: something that I am considering buying, and it's a ridiculous price. However, on the latter, I am prepared to wait until it comes down a bit; especially as the LG 83" C1 is likely to create good competition to hopefully cause Sony to lower the price of the A90J much further 🤪
I work in home repair and a good customer bought a new house with this TV in it that was on a swinging wall mount. He wanted $1,200 for it and the mount but I didn't NEED it. A couple days later, he offered to sell it to me for $800. Couldn't pass that up. So now I have a way better TV than I would have ever bought... Haha

Awesome review B def one of my favorites for sure. You are getting so technical in your reviews. I may go out of my way and say your reviews are becoming my favorites. I mean whenever you get 180 likes within this amount of time and 0 dislikes you are doing something right.
Great video - can I ask you this question, Here in March 2023, this 83 inch Sony A90J is only $4,499. We purchased a 77 inch LG G2 from Best Buy 6 weeks ago for $3,399 and it comes with a 5 year warranty (but not for burn in) but I could enjoy the 83 inch in our space on the wall. My wife doesn't like the Magic remote (no backlight and the arrow cursor annoys her) So our choice is to stick with this TV (and I do love the brightness) and maybe get an upgraded remote in the future or buy this Sony A90J - Also keep in mind we do not play any games on the tv. We mainly watch sports, news, cable tv shows, HBO movies, and will start streaming Netflix soon. It's just the two of us at almost 60 years old. We know we want an OLED panel - but it feels weird to buy this Sony with 2 year old technology. Also, we have a new wonderful Sonos Arc, subwoofer, & a pair on One SL's for fantastic surround sound, so the TV speakers will be turned off. So what do you think is the right choice ??? I would really value your opinion. Thank you in advance ! Guy
Congratulations, B. It seems your a90j won the shootout from value electronics. I can't afford the 83 inch but I'm sure thinking more about the 77 inch A80J for gaming and movies. Nick
For my games, I ordered the 55 inch AJ90. It won’t arrive until 12/21. I thought about the 65 inch, but that’s too big for me regarding video games! I don’t wanna sit 5 miles back! If it’s good, I’ll save for the 83 inch as my main. That’s if nothing else comes out! As of right now, you all can have the QLED and Neo QLED! Numerous complaints over dse and blooming! Another factor is Samsung’s customer service is horrible! Everyone I’ve come across got accused of somehow damaging their own set! They even had difficulty when discussing the warranty!
I am hearing impaired and to avoid arguments with my wife, she listens through the tv speakers (Panasonic Plasma) and I route TV RCA audio output to a Sony receiver and hook up wired earphones. I now can independently control volume. As far as I can tell the LG C1 has settings to allow TV to output speaker sound and audio out at same time. But I don't think the Sony A80J allows this. I am leaning to the Sony but this one feature is critical. Can you confirm one way or another? thx much
getting ready to swipe cc for a90 j. 2017 went from 40" lg to sony 65" thinking for sure big enough after a 40". a year later and now in the big screen tv game somewhat, just had to try a sony 75"a big $$$ Z9D no less. now i don't want to get a a80j and then thinking that "should of' again. take away later on 'should of" then a80J fine enough.
It's interesting to me how so many people do an "aside" comment about issues with this TVs motion handling, but still rate it so high. I'm guessing when the fix comes out in the next generation that'll be the reason to upgrade?
one year ago i get the 77a80j for 2100 euros and i choose against the 83a90j his price then was 5800 euro , for the difference i get 3 svs 2000pros, and my entire speakers for my home system and a behringer a 800 amp.
My question would be, if i choose to buy the a90j or a80j do i need to spend another$600 to get them calibrated, or should my personal visual preference work with adjusting the tv settings?
great vid. The matte screen is killing the contrast for me on the A80j during the day. Doesn't look quite like an oled when the lights are on. I'm either switching to the C1 or waiting for 2022 models. Sony pushed me into LG's arms this year.
Planing on a Sony A90 J 65 inch. Not a large living room with high ceilings. Keep looking at the Sony HT 7000 with the bigger sub but, for close to the same price can buy two towers like B&W, a AVS Sub use the TV as the center and decent receiver like Marantz. Thoughts?
Hey B you need to use fim mode high for 24p content with sports no issues after that alot of people aren't using film mode and they should be in the settings 80 percent of peoppe I talk to don't don't know about FILM mode for sony it's made for 24p content with motion
I own the A90J and A80J, to be honest I can't tell them apart. One gives off more heat, has better speakers and a backlit remote. Other than that they're very identical. The 77 inch A80J is more value for the money. 💰🧠💡
We bought one from BestBuy July 16th on August 12th it stopped working. On Sat. Aug 13th I Chatted w Sony tech and went through all trouble shooting. Sony tech said I would be receiving an email from Sony to schedule an apt for tech to come to house todo repair. Said TV (75 inch) has to be removed from wall if mounted due to liability issues. Never received email that day so chatted w another tech at Sony who said my case was sent to engineer to review and that a part may need to ordered. Was not told what part it could be. I’m thinking it could be a motherboard. I would have tried returning tv to best buy but i already got rid of the box.
Great Video love the channel. Only problem I have is when asking $2,000.00 over the next competitor, this tv should do everything great. All set to purchase but the motion on fast sports it making me stop. Hope to talk with you on the next live feed. Keep up the great work
I know most people review smaller sizes, but since your doing 83 inch OLEDS 😆 I figured alot of people might be interested in a review of the 85 inch QN85A which comes with the VA panel instead of the IDS Panel. Just saying I think it would get a lot of views and people can know more options at that size.
So is it worth buying the A90J now ? I can get a decent price on it, however Sony has the A95k out now which is supposed to be an upgrade but the largest size is 65" and I'm partial to the 83". I have read several reviews on the A90J that say it is very good for gaming now the VRR has dropped. It also pairs very well with the PS5 which is no surprise and I'm hoping to find a TVthat does both video content and gaming equally well.
@@Zinnet85 not quite tho. There is a new panel made in a different factory with a different RGB distribution which allows for a brighter panel - in addition to the processing modes. The C1s using the panel from the older factory does not seem to have the same brightness as the C1s using the panel from the newer process/factory.
So this bad boy is 6500 Euro or 7630 Dollar now already (from a staggering 7500 Euro / 8800 Dollar) so I fully expect it to peak at 5000 Euro (5870 Dollar) either already at Black Friday in November, or somewhere around March 2022, when their new TV's get announced. Either way, going to wait till then and then decide if I pull the trigger. VRR ALLM Firmware Update still not released, and major doubts that it will actually still be a thing. Still, with or without VRR this is hands down the best OLED TV in 2021.
I just bought a 65" A80J, but I'm thinking I'm going to return it because I'm afraid of burn-in when playing games with my PS5. Might cop an X90J instead.
@@BTheInstaller Okay, thanks for the reply. I have another question if that's okay: Aside from the burn in worries I have, I'm finding the TV to be a bit too dim for me, but only in certain scenarios i.e. watching darker movies/tv shows during the daytime. I always have my shades down on my two windows but when viewing content like Stranger Things or just darker shows in general, I'm finding that there are a lot of really dark scenes and it can be very hard to see what is going on. I know you just said you wouldn't pick an X90J for $800 less over the A80J but would you say that a 65" QN90A would be something to consider based off my situation? Or should I stick it out with the A80J? I game only on a PS5 and stream movies/shows exclusively. Thanks.
Hi! Thanks for all the great content! I have a small room with no windows 14*12*8 where I am planning to put an 83 inch A90J. Considering the size of the room, and a total budget of around 7-8k which soundbar would you recommend I pair it with? Thanks!
Are you planning to get z9j comparison with zh8 or ZG9.. Do you think Sony has nailed it this year with Oled although 4K FLAD is unclear at the moment . Have they also nailed the 8K this time ? ZH8 was good value buy .
I have the 65inch A90J which is incredible, and is the first ever OLED TV I have owned. Would have I bought a larger size? No, because my A90J fits in my small bedroom wall. Any bigger and it would devour me whole while viewing it eating my popcorn!
B how is the a80js brightness compared to the a90s brightness watching hdr movies? Is it a huge difference If I watch a lot of hdr movies and play a lot of hdr games on the ps5 do you recommend keeping the a90j 65 or going for the bigger screen in the a80j? I love the extra brightness pop but not sure if it’s a big difference from the a80j
I do like this A90J and down to $5k plus. But not sure about anything OLED anymore. I bought the LG OLED "65" 6 years ago. But now starting to see screen burn in. Thought I had bought one of the best back then. Is this typical of OLED TVs?
Thanks bud, 👍 i appreciate the tip and trust your experience with OLED's, what you think about the Philips OLED 806 (2021 model) with P5 processor & Ambilight ?
B bro OK hear me out man. You should try to get an 85 in QN85A and review it. I have a feeling that tv may be one of the best 85 inch tvs out there that no one is really talking about because that tv has a VA panel.
I received an LG C1 83 this Wednesday from Value Electronics. It arrived in perfect condition calibrated and QC''ed. This TV thus far is fantastic. Plenty bright with great specular highlights. Screen uniformity test showed a very clean panel. I highly recommend the LG C1. You do not need a totally dark room for this TV. Movies look great and Call of Duty Black Ops is fantastic looking and plays extremely well.
Hey brotha wanted to tell you man you need to use film mode for 24p content and for broadcast like soccer and things set it to low then use the motion settings you want to and boom absolutely insanely good motion
I watched your review of the A90J 83"..on my A90J 83". Good review. I wanted the best I could get. All good points comparing to the LG 83". The final straw was no HBOmax on LG. Petty maybe, but I didn't want to have to launch another device (that would also need firmware updates) just to watch shows on HBOmax.
If you get a chance. Test a Samsung, LG using patch cable vs Wi-Fi with the Netflix network connection. It was disappointing to find out the $8000 Sony only has a 100Mb NIC not 1Gb. Wi-Fi is faster.
Just ordered the 83in A90J for a huge early black friday deal. What's the wall mount you used? Wanted to get the ultra flush mount Sony SU-WL855 but it states that it only supports models up to 77in. Do you know if there's is an ultra slim mount that will support this size TV?
Need advice, any thoughts are appreciated. My 2018 Samsung 65” Q6FN went out on me and I was reimbursed, and now I’m trying to decide between the Samsung QN90A and Sony A80J (65 inch as well). I’m very used to bright colorful TVs as I’ve had Samsung LEDs for about a decade now, but they keep breaking on me every few years, thinking of switching to Sony, but I’m concerned OLED might not be bright enough. I’m not in a bright room, it’s only ever dimly lit to moderately lit, but I don’t know I just hear OLED doesn’t get bright and it scares me off. I watch my Samsung in Dynamic picture mode which is bright as the backlight goes, movie and standard modes are too dim for me, but maybe that’s because color is lost on those modes and on an OLED it won’t be and they’ll pop. Any thoughts?
i really want a "75" tv so its upsetting the a90j isnt that size as well... however considering that size i am now looking at the a80j or the z9j which i know is an lcd tv and expensive but honestly cant figure out which one i should get
Love the reviews and straight talk. But let me ask if you could get any tv in 2021 forget price forget gimmicks what tv would it be. I know the sony is expensive but there are tv's out there for a lot more and some have poor reviews. What would be your one tv to rule them all
Excellent review. Cost is somewhat a factor. So if you wanted your first OLED TV, you sit about 10 ft. away, you’re not a gamer, you have some vision issues, and your room has tall windows with coverings and some smaller upper windows without coverings: would you buy the Sony A80J 77”, or the A90J 65”, since they’re close in price, or something else altogether? Oh. I have a Bose soundbar and I am a grandma, if that’s a factor. 😅
I’m in New Zealand and had a choice between LG G1 77” for $10k, 83” C1 for $12.5k, or Sony A90J 83” for $12.5k. Prices are a bit different here so LG and Sony were the same price… Went with the Sony A90J and it arrives in a couple weeks… did I make the right decision? I’m pairing with Sonos sound system so sound isn’t a factor. Also wall mounting.
Kiwi living in japan. I have the same setup with the complete sonos arc set. Sony seems to have some issues with sonos.. atleast here anyway. It won't auto find the audio codec so I have to keep switching it manually between different content on the tv settings. Also I find if I'm switching to my apple tv4k I lose audio altogether, have to keep unplugging the hdmi and plugging it back in to get sound . Can't be good constantly putting that much wear and tear on the port .
I have no issues with Sonos Arc and sound. I watch everything on Apple TV but it switches from DD+ TO 5.1 to 2.0 all the time with zero issues. What other devices Brett? Haven't seen you in a bit. We have new streaming channel.
@@BTheInstaller Hey Brandon ! excellent to hear from you mate. Yeah it's been quite a while, New Job and a lot of hours in the office recently , Also you guys need to have more Japan friendly streaming times ! haha. I'll be lurking around the streams soon enough though once things calm down. It's only the Apple TV4k that has no sound when I switch over. The PS5 and series X are fine. I feel the real mistake I made was buying the ARC in Japan. A huge red flag i didn't pick up on before purchase was the ARC doesn't support the audio codec for japanese broadcast tv . So zero sound from the arc on regular TV channels. Major fail on my part.
Hmm i think its personal preference definitly like the color on the a90j better than 90a but the samsung is brighter both are amazing guess it depends on the scenes your watching. Thats tough to chose id be happy either way. Both are amazing for sure. Its way trippy comparing them. Guess you have to decide which slice of the pie you prefer. @@dave2094 I've always been a Sony gamer that's why I've been holding out for the 95j for months now cause my 900e bit the dust 2 weeks ago....but after seeing early reviews of the 95j and worries about burn in with gaming I ended up pulling the trigger on the qn90a 75in last night.
Wonderful video b.. from 1/2 of "Pass the Remote" 🙂😁
Why thank you Brandon. 😊
Pretty awesome review B, that TV is huge...in person looks even bigger and the picture is amazing.!!
#ENORMOUS #MASTERPIECE
Thank you for being honest about oled motion when streaming sports, it's probably one of t he most watched among men, in fact I don't have have a blue ray player and all my content is streamed.
I was lucky enough to get one from the first batch of 83" A90J's, and I haven't looked back. It's hands down the best television I've owned.
Hey man as someone who waited for a price drop and is awaiting delivery of an 83” A90J this week, is there a difference between first batch and the ones they’re sending out now? 👀
@@stevenrodriguez9655 That I can't tell you. I haven't done any comparisons to any other A90J.
83” wouldn’t fit in my space and 65” was too small for me, so an A90J was out of the picture for me. I opted for the 77” A80J and it’s amazing! I might be missing some of the bright highlights that the A90J can push, but it doesn’t stand out to me because I don’t have the 2 TVs side-by-side. You sold me on the A80J, so thanks, B!
Absolutely. 77" A80J is such a good deal for that quality tv.
@@BTheInstaller I was also able to find it for under $3,100 out the door, so it made it $680 less than it would be from a vendor at $3,498 plus tax, so I just couldn’t turn it down!
Good thing you (we) waited!
Good call
I work in home repair and a good customer bought a new house with this TV in it that was on a swinging wall mount. He wanted $1,200 for it and the mount but I didn't NEED it. A couple days later, he offered to sell it to me for $800. Couldn't pass that up. So now I have a way better TV than I would have ever bought... Haha
@@foroursinsbrand7033damn it was an 83 inch a90j?
Thanks for keeping it real. For most people the A90J just isn't in the budget. It is a stunning TV tho.
So how does NFL football from NBC, CBS, and FOX……and MLB baseball look on this model?
I currently own Sony A9G 65in, A90J 83in will be the next OLED upgrade, I will wait however until it's $6500-$7000, I also have my mind on Sony Z9J 85in, I'm looking to upgrade my Sony Z9D, thanks for sharing a descriptive vlog of Sony A90J, can't wait to see the side by side comparison with LG C1!
Great breakdown B. It's hard to beat the value proposition of the A80J
Appreciate the footage with all four TVs too!
Thanks for the review, with so many options out here knowing what's good and what isn't. This was helpful.
Yep it was super popular because of Jen. Checked it out and the display was incredible. :)
Thanks for sharing, too big for any room in my house 😞 currently looking at the 65" model
Just bought the 65" lg oled wx on a 55% sale that was o around the same price as a 65" c1 or 80j
just got the 65" A80J and its awesome!
Awesome review B def one of my favorites for sure. You are getting so technical in your reviews. I may go out of my way and say your reviews are becoming my favorites.
I mean whenever you get 180 likes within this amount of time and 0 dislikes you are doing something right.
I had one. It only lasted 2 years. It's a good thing I had the top warranty on it.
Guy
More Jen please, thank you. I tip my hat to you brother! Really well done review too.
Congratulations, B. It seems your a90j won the shootout from value electronics. I can't afford the 83 inch but I'm sure thinking more about the 77 inch A80J for gaming and movies.
Nick
Thanks for sharing BTI, i like your content and wise reviews
Nice review keep up the good work
I just bought the Sony 90 J with a Sonos sound bar and a subwoofer and also bought the Panasonic UB 9000 Blu-ray DVD DHX player!

Great job as always bro!
Thanks. You're too kind. Yanks implosion in 8th inning today. Wow.
Thanks for the video😍83inch A90J is spectacular 🤯
Perfect Review
Great job B... I say but the 77" A80J and pair it up with a SVS ULTRA Speaker 5.1 setup with the money that was saved.
What would you use for a stand if you didn't want to wall mount an LG G1?
one year ago i get the 77a80j for 2100 euros and i choose against the 83a90j his price then was 5800 euro , for the difference i get 3 svs 2000pros, and my entire speakers for my home system and a behringer a 800 amp.
77inch a80j has glossy screen..
@@simonloncaric3087 I have the 65 in my office.
Well I hope you have more than enough financial resources in your piggy bank after purchasing these!

Great review B!
B, now that the A90J price is under $6k, is it the best TV you recommend buying now?
I'm sure it's great. I have a lot going on now but, if it had the VA, it's probably nearly same as 90A
So is it worth buying the A90J now ? I can get a decent price on it, however Sony has the A95k out now which is supposed to be an upgrade but the largest size is 65" and I'm partial to the 83". I have read several reviews on the A90J that say it is very good for gaming now the VRR has dropped. It also pairs very well with the PS5 which is no surprise and I'm hoping to find a TVthat does both video content and gaming equally well.
Does LG actually build an 83" Evo panel? Why doesn't the G1 have the 83" Evo panel otherwise?
Evo panel is marketing, Evo means the whole oled tv sistem.
I wouldn't. No burn in happening man.
Thanks!
Awesome video better advice!! Your on fire brother…. LOVE IT!!!!
Price has come down substantially but now it's a battle between an old master series or a G3 or A95L
Is it a huge difference
If I watch a lot of hdr movies and play a lot of hdr games on the ps5 do you recommend keeping the a90j 65 or going for the bigger screen in the a80j? I love the extra brightness pop but not sure if it’s a big difference from the a80j
I do like this A90J and down to $5k plus. But not sure about anything OLED anymore. I bought the LG OLED "65" 6 years ago. But now starting to see screen burn in. Thought I had bought one of the best back then. Is this typical of OLED TVs?
It's far too expensive for me so I would take the "LG-Road" and bee happy with a tiny 77", as I have, so I can play with perfect result also.
YOU WILL BE TESTING TCL C825 MINILED???

Hello. Love your channel. I wanted to ask if the A90J would be a better buy at $4799 at Best Buy vs the LGs
In Canada the 83" C1 is $200 more than the 83" A90j
Yup, in Germany LG TV's aren't cheaper than Sony either, so here the choice is too obvious.
B bro OK hear me out man. You should try to get an 85 in QN85A and review it. I have a feeling that tv may be one of the best 85 inch tvs out there that no one is really talking about because that tv has a VA panel.
If u have to buy one between lg c1, Sony a80j , Samsung q90t... which one u recommend me??
OLED for darker room or you can control the light, LCD for bright rooms with sunlight and what not
Sony a80j for movies, LG C1 if you game.
Any if those would be fine. Based on your opinion and needs. OLEDs are not only for dark rooms fyi. ✌
1- C1 for movies and games
2- a80j for movies and games
3- q90t
I’m sony’s boy
I'm after a 83" OLED. This is a bit cheaper then the C2 83" now. Not sure if I should buy now or wait a few months.
I heard you can put Mexico as country and it will download HBO max... haven't tried it tho
If you get a chance. Test a Samsung, LG using patch cable vs Wi-Fi with the Netflix network connection. It was disappointing to find out the $8000 Sony only has a 100Mb NIC not 1Gb. Wi-Fi is faster.

Would using the Sanus Pedestal Table Mount work for the 55" model? The legs at the edge for the 55" will not work for our stand. Thanks
Love the reviews and straight talk. But let me ask if you could get any tv in 2021 forget price forget gimmicks what tv would it be. I know the sony is expensive but there are tv's out there for a lot more and some have poor reviews. What would be your one tv to rule them all
Great review
Just cancelled my order for the 65 inch QN90A and placed an order for the A90J 65 - and saved 800$ by buying it on Ebay
Digital Trends just got the TCL 8k in for review. Looks promising.

Some people like cherry pie others like apple pie haha! I love both samsung and sony. Based off the a90j and a80j i dont think the $1000+ price jump is worth it. A90j is a little better but not sigfinicantly better. I cant even tell the difference really at all. If a90j was 1800$ with tax id buy it at 1800 that would be a solid purchase for sure
