      A lot of vehicles are marketed as Four-season but this is only due to the drive train. Regardless of floor plan or build.
      When it comes to all weather, nothing comes close to the Travato K.
      A built in mud room with floor drain, heat and designated venting.
      Three energy sources- Solar, propane and onboard generator.
      How many RVs have a second entrance with a floor drain? Only one.
      Going on my 10 year, full-time.

      @@Erin-Thor I agree with you 100%.
      It’s not about four-wheel-drive. it’s about being able to get in and out of your vehicle in any weather, covered head to toe and water, mud, snow etc.
      Van with rear bathroom= mud room.
      (with floor drain, dedicated fan and dedicated heating vent separate from main cabin.)
      Enter through the rear, Remove wet clothing and hang them up to dry, then enter main cabin. that’s it!
      No concern about moisture, condensation, loss of heat or anything else.

    Great review as usual. I am so on the fence between this one and the Travato 59GL because of the Volta System. My problem with the Ekko is the kitchen and freezer storage, I am a boondocker and carry a lot of food to stay out for weeks at a time. There is only one big storage cabinet above the table and not even half in the kitchen. The one by the chairs is not good enough for much. The outside storage is great and the front area good with the exception of the commuter train cheap type seating; I would remove that right away and replace them with the more comfortable bench type sitting like in the Travato. I am ok with the bedroom and with the bathroom the knocked out of the park. Decisions Decisions...

    I love all the storage space, the bedroom and the bathroom. However, I would highly prefer a bench seat at the table (much more comfortable) and struts on the cabinets. Last thing I want is the magnet not holding and getting smacked on the head. I love the tank size. Like you, I prefer a van but would definitely consider something like this.

    Great review and tour. Could have an extendable kitchen counter pull up. Also the two seats would be nice as a bench that also folded down to sleep a 3rd person. Now if you don’t use the cushions to make the bigger bed then you lose storage storing the cushions for when you do want it bigger sometimes. Nice to have it 4 seasons so you don’t have to worry when doing winter camping. And I love that they have a hitch so you can add a bike carrier or the like. ??How much weight is allowed to pull behind?? Everything else looks pretty cool for someone like me who is trying to convince my husband to buy something small. He’s not convinced on the Vans. Although I must say I would love the Leisure Travel Van FX and I think it’s a little cheaper and has Murphy bed allowing two lounge areas. Which allows more than 2 people to sleep if needed. ??Have you ever been in one of those?? Great job on the tour/review.

    If you have to have a wet bath, this is what I’d pick. I’d actually like to see them make the second row of seats optional-if you can use the table from the driver/passenger seats, remove the 2nd row and add a cabinet, or expand the bath. Pretty spendy for the size, but I love that it’s weatherproofed.

    Positives:
    All wheel drive, easy propane exchange, tank drain easy to get to if it breaks, transforming bathroom/shower, ducted A/C, 50gal freshwater, 51gal graywater.
    Negatives:
    Large size but only two sleep (or spend for a pop top which risks a leak at some point), too many ways to get into storage from outside, lithium option is underpowered (unless you spend more for optional battery), tiny freezer, low ground clearance.
    Not really for us, but I can see why people may like it. Have you seen "The Fit RV" and their battery modifications? WILD!!.

    I personally feel one of the big differences between the EKKO and a Travato are possibly from a psychological perspective - for us, we felt like sleeping in the Travato was one step up from sleeping in your car (not a bad thing per se, just how it felt with the metal backdoor, insulation, and shape), but in the EKKO, it's just a little closer to feeling like a little hotel room on wheels with it's square/walls everywhere shape if that makes sense. Perhaps that is the exact difference that people say between a van and a Class C?

    I’ve been hunting for class b or b+ for 4 to 6 months. Been trying to find two sleeping spaces, with twin bed in back with a 4 season. I would be buying the ekko if they had a bed in the front. I know there is an option of a pop top for 2nd sleeping area but seems all that insulation is lost with a pop top.
    Your rig is amazing with 2nd sleeping area but it’s not 4 season. I guess we will have to figure out what is more important based on our needs.

    Thanks for the tour. Like that it is a 4 season RV. Great windows and restroom. Wish they would have opted for no propane and went with induction and a convection/microwave in the kitchen. The carry 4 individuals, but sleep two is quirky. My deal breaker is the multi level floor throughout. Possible trip hazard for seniors, disabled or small children. The magnets for cabinets doesn’t seem practical. For the price, I would like to see 4x4 increasing clearance and boondocking capabilities.
    Many individuals will like the RV.

    • @travellingslim
      @travellingslim 2 года назад

      Most of that propane will be going to the Truma for heating water and air. I think technically in that model you "can" use electric as an option but it is very energy expensive and not as efficient as propane. If they switched to a hydronic system that would increase the price substantially. The propane canisters are easily swappable at many places which is nice compared to the hassle of finding a place that will fill it for you (many UHauls often have excuses like they're not properly trained for RVs, don't have the right attachments, hose is leaky, yadda yadda).

    I love and hate it at the same time. I love the storage, bathroom, and the twin beds. To me it seems like the cabinetry, countertops, and table behind the driver side seems cheaply made and will not last a long time without having issues. I love the all wheel drive, fresh water tank size, propane tanks that are easy to replace and all weather capabilities. The inside seems cramped. It is not a bad option for a B+ van but I have seen other class B+ and smaller class C that I would rather buy that are not as expensive as the EKKO and seem to have better cabinets, roomer insides and same amount of storage. But this is my thoughts and my opinion and I hope that I’m not offending anyone with what matters to me. Thank you Scott for another great and informative video.

    I really like it for my plan of spending maybe a few months to a year or 2 to visit the national parks & friends after retirement. I think the garage could be smaller to give the living area more space & still have room for 2 electric bikes. More clearance & real 4x4 & a more serious solar/battery system for staying off grid longer would clinch it for me, especially for that price.

I think these rigs are optimal for 1 or 2 people. I would rather rip out the shuttle bus seats and have some sort of lounge area or a dedicated desk set-up.

    Did you miss the underbed hanging closets? My finger kept brushing side videos that had nothing to do with yours and I’d jump away to another video and back to yours, so I might’ve missed it. But there are two huge underbed closets if you lift up the Froli System. That’s the thing I like most about the Ekko. Closets! And a real door instead of a slider. But I didn’t care for it much overall. We went down to a dealership to look at the Solis models about a month ago and they had an Ekko in the lot, and I’ve been following the Fit RV’s new Ekko and James’ multiple major mods - including outboard cat box. But I wasn’t crazy about it. The front felt just as crowded as the Travato feels to me and the whole back felt like a lot of wasted space. The euro bathroom is way cool, I like the cassette toilet and the swap-out propane tank, and contrary to you, I LOVE the magnetic cabinet doors. The Travato ones are dangerous for a tall person. I am about 5‘4“ and I’m just fine standing at the galley with the galley cabinet’s lid up, but it’s about eye level for Jerry at 6‘2“ and I have to remember to shut it so that he doesn’t run into the corner and gouge his eye out. Also I really hate the pushbutton latches on the Travato. They keep breaking. They stop working, they jam shut so they can’t be opened or they jam so they can’t be shut. These, I think, are a much better solution. But the whole thing is just too massive for us. It’s not that it’s that much longer or wider but it is voluminous. Not a good feeling to me. Cramped in the front while being overall voluminous…

    Many things were missed or incorrectly described. Misspoke where lithium batteries and gen. are located. Never mentioned about solar or how batteries are charged similarly to Voltasystem. Also size is only 2 ft longer, approx. 3 inches wider, and ! ft. taller than the Travato. And comparable price to a GL. Watch you channel religiously, but had to chime in.

    • @richardburguillos3118
      @richardburguillos3118 2 года назад

      @@liorajacob8094 I think you meant the dealer can add a second Battery. You can order Generator and one battery from factory and then add second battery yourself or have dealer add it. I’d probably do the generator delete and have factory add second battery. The eventually do what James at FitRV did and redo the complete electrical and move the two factory batteries inside, add two more and redo the Dl seating and table. However, that is definitely not cheap so I’d see how two batteries work for a while. I might consider the Generator and two batteries of I could somewhat easily remove the generator to f I decide to go full battery.

Let's see what Terry M's magic will be on his take of this concept with the next generation under development. Also, fail to understand the concept of more seat belts than sleeping areas and vice versa. And Terry's fridge/freezer would be better than that arrangement.
