    Thanks for sharing your setup. I have followed your photography journey for some time & work at the Minneapolis studio where Aeron was designed. I’m glad the folks at Herman Miller supported your work!

    Love this! Always curious to convenient tools. Also sitting on an apple box is wild haha.

    My 1y old second daughter fell asleep immediately today and I was able to watch this video afterwards 😀
    Your setup simply looks awesome , well thought out and still very clean. And as you mentioned, your talking head shot just gives it more personal character (similar to Tom Bucks).
    I’m currently at the beginning of my YT and every time I want to record a video, I wait until the kids go to sleep and then setup one key light at the kitchen table and one shower curtain to soften the light. Not convenient, but it’s what I currently have and able to do to push these videos out. If this creative outlet works out I might work up my setup to something like yours, who is doing this for many years now. I’m really inspired by you - keep up the awesome work!

    Hey Matt, your channel is fantastic! Your photos and explanations are really nice.
    I would be very interesting to see a video about your folder structure and maybe your backup workflow with your NAS. How do you organise your files to stay efficient and easily accessible? And what strategy do you use to back up your valuable work? It would be great to get some insights into your process!
    Best regards

      Thanks for the kind words and suggestion! I'll be honest, if I made a video like that, it would likely be showing how NOT to organize files because it's very much something that only I can navigate. I go off of memory on so much of it because I haven't been great at adding keywords or organizing folders appropriately. If and when I get around to better organizing things, maybe I'll make a video showing that process and what I do to actually GET organized. 🤞🏻

    That looks like a very efficient setup! I've wanted to try a Herman Miller Aaron for a long time, but never got to a dealer. We will be at Paint Creek State Park campground this coming Thursday until Sunday. Roll your chair over to see us so I can try it out! 🤣

    Dude that blackjet thing seems totally ideal for my setup.
    I was looking for something to updrage to that I would be able to edit off of and then use my current storage system as just backups.
    thanks for sharing.

      I’ve had it for around 3 years now and it’s been one of my favorite workflow tools! Love the modularity and the speed of data transfer is incredible.

    How's the battery holding up on your Macbook? For many years I had a laptop-only setup and like you had it plugged in most of the time. I found that it was very hard on my batteries (or I have incredible bad luck with batteries), such that I would end up needing to replace the batteries once a year as they would start swelling and pressing up against the underside of the trackpad. A few years ago I gave up on that and went to a Mac Mini on the desk and a laptop for travel.

    Sorry not to distract from the video because it's lovely but what case is that for your Apple Watch? Lol I like it!

    • @mattdayphoto
      @mattdayphoto  2 месяца назад +1

      Haha! It's a cheap watch case from Amazon, but I like it way more than the traditional watch bands for the Apple Watch.

    what lighting do you use for top down book shots?

    • @mattdayphoto
      @mattdayphoto  2 месяца назад

      I usually set up one of my Hobolites with a soft box or lantern a few feet away, in line with the spine of the book so it's right in the middle of the spread. I keep it far enough to cut down on as many reflections as I can, keeping it only slightly higher than the height of the desk, and keeping it further away helps keep the book evenly lit, so that the top of the page isn't significantly brighter than the bottom of the page. I hope that all makes sense!
