Why do you think we haven't had Half Life 3 yet? With all the suspense and hype that'd surround it, it's basically guaranteed to fall short of expectations.
Its been 3 years since this video released. Gaben updated the original half life and even added new stuff to it. Half life 2 got updated and got even more additions. There is even a confirmation through code of possible work in half life 3- Maybe this time he will learn to count to 3?
i just realized something gabe newell could probably generate so much excitement by just going on a stage at some game convention and say "3" and just walk off stage
To be fair, Valve isn't selling HL on all of the goddamn platforms without a hope of a sequel. We just have no hope for a sequel(not really, Alyx gave us hope now). Gaben may be bathing in money, but he hasn't been uploading bugged as hell games constantly and asking for more money in a paid game(artifact isn't a game anymore, so yeah)

lowkey i think this is Valve's way of teasing a sequel to a game. Dota 3? Nah, Dota 2 is still making bucks Half-Life? Just got Alyx, nah Team Fortress 3? Maybe, TF2 hasnt had an update for 4 years so they could be working on it Left-4-Dead? Sold and a new franchise in the same universe just came out Counter-Strike: 3? honestly after all these years this is pretty much the only way to announce it properly, no normal game trailer can do these games justice at this point.
To be honest, the line "Everyone is anticipating another masterpiece of art" is really true. It's hard to come back to the industry when everyone is expecting so much.
This is why I think what Toby Fox is doing is incredible. After making Undertale, he had such pressure on his shoulders that any other games he makes must be as ground-breaking if not more so, and 2 chapters in to his new 7 chapter game Deltarune he's already knocking it out of the park. I admire him for not crumbling to the pressure to live up to your past achievements, I know I would have, but he's testament that you can get over that to great success.
@@ari638 I think a factor in Toby’s success in this case has to do with his cool mindset. Rather then crack under the pressure pointlessly trying to copy the magic of a game he never expected to blow up in the first place, he accepts that it’s unlikely he could give that type of experience again and instead does something almost completely different. With expectations that it isn’t gonna go as far. Which, ironically, in my opinion, is what gave Deltarune its own spark, even comparable to its predecessor. I genuinely don’t think I would’ve liked the game better if it was just a direct sequel to Undertale.

To be fair, Valve isn't selling HL on all of the goddamn platforms without a hope of a sequel. We just have no hope for a sequel(not really, Alyx gave us hope now). Gaben may be bathing in money, but he hasn't been uploading bugged as hell games constantly and asking for more money in a paid game(artifact isn't a game anymore, so yeah)

honestly after all these years this is pretty much the only way to announce it properly, no normal game trailer can do these games justice at this point.
To be honest, the line "Everyone is anticipating another masterpiece of art" is really true. It's hard to come back to the industry when everyone is expecting so much.
This is why I think what Toby Fox is doing is incredible. After making Undertale, he had such pressure on his shoulders that any other games he makes must be as ground-breaking if not more so, and 2 chapters in to his new 7 chapter game Deltarune he's already knocking it out of the park. I admire him for not crumbling to the pressure to live up to your past achievements, I know I would have, but he's testament that you can get over that to great success.
@@ari638 I think a factor in Toby’s success in this case has to do with his cool mindset.
Rather then crack under the pressure pointlessly trying to copy the magic of a game he never expected to blow up in the first place, he accepts that it’s unlikely he could give that type of experience again and instead does something almost completely different. With expectations that it isn’t gonna go as far.
Which, ironically, in my opinion, is what gave Deltarune its own spark, even comparable to its predecessor. I genuinely don’t think I would’ve liked the game better if it was just a direct sequel to Undertale.
