idk what story is there for portal anymore. legit, in this case we got closure were likely getting closure aswell if hl alyx does well. portal has no more story to tell, while half-life still needs to tell us the aftermath of episode 2. the only thing i can think of for portal to have a continuity would be that it has another prequel like hl alyx is to half-life 2 explaining the creation of GLaDOS
Gabby Lucas there were multiple portal themed small very short games as they were experimenting in VR, but I don’t believe they would do something with chell if they do make one

ET Da Deep Web It was never made clear that Portal took place during the 7-hour-war. It’s definitely after the Resonance Cascade. I’d say it took before the 7-hour-war because in HL:A it’s made clear that the whole North America was destroyed.
Never noticed that after mentioning black mesa, GLaDOS's voice becomes deeper, more closely resembling her voice in Portal 2. It's also where she gets more sarcastic, so I guess it all just represents the point at which she begins to resent the player more.
Something great happened in my life, an achievement I could be proud of, one I've been waiting for 20 years. I boot up my RUclips playlist of over 1000 songs I've collected over be years and I hear the words "This is a triumph." Thank you Valve. You've been a great part of my life.
It always amuses me that valve packaged this game in a bundle like an extra because it was a side project and they were afraid that nobody would like it but then it went on to become the most beloved game of all time. How do you make the most beloved game of all time by accident?
ok so there's no such thing as a neurotoxic gas a neurotoxin is a chemical that messes with your nervous system blocking essential proteins from reaching cells etc so the only thing that you can derive from neurotoxin is neurotoxins.
i hear that a lot of people read "and when you're dying i'll be still alive" as a threat, but that's not true. she's either bragging about being immortal, or accepting the depressing fact that she will never be able to die, even though that's what she really wants.
@@lustsoul69 I feel like valve still cares alot more than other companies though and they're active in the community listening. Maybe there is a chance we get something just as beautiful somewhere in the future.
@@thermz I hope so.. Well at least they made Alyx... It's a great game. I just hate how they abandoned their older games - Team Fortress 2 for example.
She really is well designed, Wheatley is pretty good too. Since I love MD if you know it love the backstory of The Arch-Illager, and the mystery of the Heart of Ender.
So, if GLaDOS is reliving her death every twelve seconds during this, that means she relives it for a total of about 15 times over the course of the song, with a bit extra left over. So she really is still alive, during the last lyric, with about 8 seconds to go before her next death.
What I loved about portal is that it was a puzzle game and then I broke out of the the puzzle. Nothing better than playing a game and thinking you know the format and boundaries of that world and it completely changes. It's almost like playing minesweeper for hours and then you reach a level where you break out of the game.
i probably sound like an ACKSHUALLY neckbeard nerd but GLaDOS stands for Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System, so GLaD as a statement of fact wouldn't make any sense considering it would just be Genetic Lifeform and Disk.
The thing that makes GLaDOS a great villain is that she doesn’t treat any situation seriously, making her extremely funny but also dangerous without it being balanced out either way. It’s perfect writing and this song is a great example of it. Good job, Valve.
To the contrary, I think GLaDOS treats every situation seriously, but with a different perspective than a human's. Essentially immortal, she doesn't possess the sense of urgency a mortal human has. So her attitude comes across as indifferent, flippant, or dismissive from our perspective. But from GLaDOS' perspective, _everything_ is a test and the testing must *_NEVER_* stop; she's serious - deadly serious - about this imperative.
I don't know why, but this song makes me happy cry. I think it has something to do with how much love and care the devs put into the game and they're so proud of thier child
Bruh, I couldn't agree more. Valve games are among the best. All of their games have such a unique feeling and attention to detail like crazy. I miss the glory days of being able to play Valve games all day and night. Man, growing up sucks. Lol

maybe you know it, but there is also some kind of meeting room where you can see slides being projected on a screen with questions about Black Mesa and their success, as if Aperture Science is spying on them. so funny...
I played these series when I was in third grade (if I remember correctly) but yesterday, I played both portal and portal 2 again. It was so nostalgic, it gave me a weird feeling and warm my heart.
We all do. But personally, I'm growing up anyway... I would like to stay a kid and forget about the horrors of our world but it's too late now. I mean I'm still quite lucky. I stopped being an innocent kid around 16 years and a half, which is later than most of kids. But then the responsabilities and stress in general came at me and I wasn't ready for it. People who slowly mature during a few years are ready to take on their responsabilities when those years have past. But I had to pass directly from childhood to soon-to-be an adult. I'm still not quite used to all the complex things I have to do, and my mother doesn't help as I try to stay in my child-like mindset from before (most of the best things I created come from when I had this mindest and now I can't manage to do anything similar anymore) while my mother wants me to grow up. The problem is that she doesn't seem to know what a content for all ages is. For her, things are either for kids, or for adults. Mario. For kids. Pokemon. For kids. Animaniacs. For kids. That's her thoughts not mine. As for Portal... Heck ! She doesn't even know what it is ! But knowing her, if she watches Portal (even though I don't see her doing that sadly... And I don't even mention her playing it because even though she played a bit to video games as a kid, she stopped quite quickly and never did again), she'll pay attention for two minutes (if it's not half a second) and say that it's stupid and that I have better things to do. But as someone who wants to create video games (something that she doesn't accept), I need inspirations, and Portal is a great inspiration for anyone who isn't close-minded like my mother. Basically I try to grab on what's left from my childhood, but I'm not even sure if there's anything left to grab on, and if there is, my mother is constantly trying to make me lose my grasp. But this song... this song... It feels like there's still hope somewhere, and that no matter how long the tunnel is, there always gonna be light at the end of it. Wow I didn't expect to talk for that long, but now, you know what kind of hell is my life. And yet, I haven't told everything... But I won't.
I recently went through two separate heartbreaks over the same gal. Long story short, she unintentionally goaded me into believing there was something happening, while she was interested in someone else, and I just found out about this today. This song has been a rather humorous way to cope with it. Thanks, Valve.
Valve in my eyes is something like "Nintendo of PC gaming" they are not here to follow trends and give out garbage sequels every year they are more interested in setting those trends.

So, if GLaDOS is reliving her death every twelve seconds during this, that means she relives it for a total of about 15 times over the course of the song, with a bit extra left over. So she really is still alive, during the last lyric, with about 8 seconds to go before her next death.

@@2շշ Haha... so, there is a thing about cake in their community. And I mean literal cake.
Maybe the piece of cake was the friends we made along the way 🥺
And the cake's still a lie.
Still a lie.
I LOVE THAT SONG AND THE OTHER DAY WHEN WE GET IT
the cake wasn't actually a lie
there was a cake in endscreen...
meint terpstra
But it's not for you.

I remember crying at the beauty and simplicity of the game when this song came on. Such sweet memories. I wish I never grew up.
We all wish that
You give me the NEED to play the game again
just do some class a amnestics and play the game again

This game was so much more than a game.
I hope Valve creates masterpieces again.
why would any company make games for money if they could just do NOTHING for money? what a world.
We all do
Same here!
Valve creating games? Whoa! That'll be as amazing as alien visiting us.
Valve in my eyes is something like "Nintendo of PC gaming" they are not here to follow trends and give out garbage sequels every year they are more interested in setting those trends.
