  • Picked up this Husky HU80709A power washer with a blown-out water pump. Removed the bad pump. Was told it had a good running engine, but it would not start. Ended up cleaning out the carburetor to resolve the issue.

I thought that I had watched all your videos, but I seemed to have found a whole new tranche! And lo and behold a PRESSURE WASHER! I have a Troy Bilt with a Briggs and Stratton that I didn't drain for the winter. Cracked the pump. I owned it for a year. I couldn't throw it out. I watched, half heartedly, on facebook marketplace and Craig's list for a Troy Bilt with a blown engine. Its been sitting 4 or 5 years laughing at me in the garage.
So, a couple weeks ago, I go to the town dump, and what do I see? A Troy Bilt pressure washer sitting on the edge of the scrap dumpster! Oh please! Oh please! Tipped it on its side and oil POURED from the crankcase. A blown engine. EUREKA.
Turns out, it was a slightly smaller size, but the pump housing and pump section looked identical. Three bolts held the engine to the pump. Popped off the broken pump housing and tried to fit the donor one on. Different form factor on the housing, but the pump sections were the same. Swapped the donor pump section to the old pump housing, popped the bolts on and it LIVES.
Managed to pull a very lightly used spark plug and a barely used air filter off the donor. Also got a nearly full tank of gas off it.
Watching your videos gave me the confidence to attempt it and the patience to work through the speed bumps...

I actually enjoy Kohler engines. Easy to start like a Honda, and nearly as reliable. Working on them is relatively easy as well.

Hi James, Love the channel. I have a Workforce pressure washer that I did an ultrasonic carb clean on. It now runs like a top but leaks fuel around the bowl. I cleaned the needle and float with the carb. Thinking maybe the seat but not sure how to clean it? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would convert this to a 12v generator for an inverter and battery setup.

How do you get the hose connection out of that water pump how does a soap go through that

Yep and they will try and blame the shop who works on it
Remove pump in front of them and offer to let them take it with them

You have the choke on, "Run" not "Start" at the beginning of the video.

I actually got a go cart for him. Only comes out to play a few times a year. We have some space for it, but do not push it since the neighbors will probably revolt. Has a nice Honda clone on it.

Wonder what the shaft dimensions are on one of these, probably too short for the average mower.

I forgot the length, but remember it being about an inch short.

Junk! I have a power washer, but the engine is a horizontal shift and the pump is more circumstantial than that. It has a 2 cycle 5 hp Honda engine which still runs. The pump may be saveable.

I remove pump on them first thing
Not going to be blamed for bad pump and off to let them take it with them

Looking at the damage on the pump parts the pump ran out of oil and "threw some rods"😄. The parts look bone dry

I see more power washers out at the curb for junk men to pick up. They just don't last very long. Too cheaply made.

This was the first and last power washer I bought. There are ones everywhere with broken pumps.
