For those of you saying that Ares is the one who cursed the blades. Yes its true that the narrator says "the blades were fused to his arms, never to be removed" Now that doesn't necessarily means that the blades are cursed , it just means that kratos is cursed to never remove them. However this curse was lifted during the ending of gow 1 when Ares took the blades back. The curse I'm taking about in this video is a new one ( I guess you haven't read fallen god) in the comics the blades of chaos keep appearing in front of him whenever he wakes up. He even accuses Athena of being the one responsible for such a curse. This is a new curse, totally unrelated to the one from gow 1 that got lifted by Ares himself. If you still want to say Ares put this new curse on Kratos you have to provide evidence that Ares is at least Alive, which he's not.
Well, the problem is that Athena didn't even know where the blades were, and for some reason, she could just curse them? I do not think it was Ares' curse, but I think the blade is a plot hole, put into the fourth game for fanservice without further thought, then, they attempted to explain the plot hole in Fallen God, but it didn't work (at least for me). Honestly, it wouldn't have been as much of a problem narrative-wise had they just added Blades of Exile instead of Blades of Chaos.
And the fact that he kill them with the blades anx then immediately their entire bodies are made ash and put on him by the old Witch. Leaving nothing physical to tether their souls to the blades.
The blades are simply kratos destiny. There’s a scene when Brock ask him “is that a family air loom” and kratos says “no and nor will they ever be.” I believe when kratos die so does his bond to the blades.

I don't think Loki being ill will affect other Pantheons just like whatever happened in Greece didn't affect Egypt and Norse. Cory was talking about the "Realm" of Midgard getting affected by his illness (that may be connected to Ragnarok). As in Norse, there's one world with nine realms in it, Maybe? And the higher plain of existence wants to keep Krato's insanity level low. Atreus is the only being keeping Kratos in his peace of mind right now. After losing everything and he loses Atreus now imagine the state Kratos will be. It'll be hard for anyone to negotiate anything with Kratos and Athena for whatever reason she has will have a very difficult time manipulating him (if she's evil).
Connecting to Bain’s comment below about when Brok asked if the blades is a heirloom and Kratos said “no” What if Brok actually sensed magic in the blades to make weapons family heirlooms; making sure that the son will receive the weapon when the father dies? Maybe, Athena wanted Kratos alive to make sure Loki exist, lives, train, and 1 day receive the blades for their plans. It can go back and connect to the wall at Jotemheim where Kratos sees himself in Atreus’ arms, and the “snake” thing in the painting from Kratos to Atreus IS actually the Blades. Another thought, Loki is the catalyst of Change and Chaos, the blades represent both, changing the Greek relm and bringing chaos.
Hey Kap!!! What if Tyr is also part of the Higher Plane of Existence? So far Kratos’ Destiny has led him to Norse where Tyr is nowhere to be found or dead.
I believe it could be Persephone as she said that his suffering would never end and because the blades are a reminder of his past and his were used to kill his family they make him suffer in some kind of way....
In the novel, it was the Norse God's who were trying to stop Kratos from getting to the Blades. Whether it was stop him from saving Loki or from killing the Gatekeeper isn't said.
I wonder if Kratos’ destiny is to destroy all the pantheons and free humanity of the God’s Influence. Since Kratos is helping to bring Ragnarok closer. He already killed the Greek Gods and the developers want Kratos to go to Egypt next which will most likely result in their death too.
I thought the storm was because modi was telling the aesir about magnes death and the pantheon was grieving 🤔 and modi getting the sh*t beat out of him by daddy thor
We know from Ragnarok that the Blades of Chaos contain primordial fire, which allows them to function in other worlds while all of his other Olympian weapons ceased to work once Olympus was destroyed. If Athena and Thoth are indeed responsible for the Blades of Chaos being cursed to remain in his possession, this is why. It's quite literally the only thing they can do to better his chances in whatever realm he journeys to next.
They could use reincarnation for kratos in future games or he dies, comes back with no memory but he's drawn to the blades and finding out about his past. I'd love to see kratos with Egyptian closing/silk skirt and arm bangles/pads. Egyptian weapons would be awesome too.
Athena: You will always be a monster Kratos. Kratos:Yes but I am your monster no longer. (Athena dissappears as Kratos leaves his home with the Blades of Chaos on his arms once more.)
I think Athena is responsible for the curse. She knows how good kratos can fight with the blades. This could also explain why she did not gave him the blades in God of War 3, what I mean is maybe Athena was just trying to see how well kratos can fight with weapons that are not cursed to return to him
Great video, but I don’t think the question of who cursed the blades is the idea that Santa Monica is trying to introduce. If you ask me the blades always returning to him will serve a greater purpose come when Kratos dies to Thor and is sent to Valhalla. What if your possessions don’t follow you so the axe is left behind but the blades are still with you, this could be their way of doing fan service since we would get to fight our way out of death ☠️ underworld style once more.
exactly what i think is going to happen: Kratos dies Shirtless in Valhalla Only blades are there we fight our way out We fight heimdall before getting out of asgard.
@@youssefyoussef9418 man I can totally see how that would play out it makes sense for it to be near the start too so we can build him up with the blades first instead of the axe
I think that the blades were being cursed/semi-sentient and that they would always have followed Kratos after they bounded to him for the first time and would have done so for as long as Kratos lived, if they weren't kept at bay by Athena's magic. By giving Kratos the Blades of Athena (weapons he didn't necessarily need, he was the God of War, he could wield any weapon he wanted) and replacing them with the Blades of Exile after the River Styx ruined the original blades, she shielded him for their curse. However, when he casted aside the Blades of Exile and "betrayed" Athena, she didn't renew her protection and allowed the curse to return to ever haunt Kratos, now an immortal...
I think the blade of chaos is literally CHAOS itself.. because like freyja said he cant use his axe becoz it was made in midgard.. technically the blade of chaos is like a key to some places.. i.e his axe is useless on some places in midgard becoz it was made from midgard and thus blade of chaos comes in becoz that weapon was not from midgard.. surely those both weapon has some kind of curse and blessing..
Your theory make sense. And it'sone of the most powerful weapon in God of War because Zeus manage to destroys all of Kratos Godly weapons at the end of God of War 3 but only the Blade of Chaos is still intact. Which means it's was forge by the ores that's was once the blood of the Ancient Primordial God Chaos the most powerful entity in God of War.
@@timeportal2859 I actually think blade of chaos is some kind of a key to restart the world thats why Zeus cant or didnt destroy 😅😅.. Have y’all played the first game? Aries bound the blades of Chaos to Kratos after Kratos gave his life to Aries. There honestly shouldn’t be a theory of a higher existence bounding the blades to Kratos.
most people i talk to consider the newest novel secondary canon, mostly because there are a decent amount of contradictions within it too, for example, baldur impales kratos with a rock in the game, in the novel it says he used the leviathan axe, the second attack from modi didn't happen either :/
I have a theory about the death of kratos and the birth of jormungandr To keep it simple i think atreus will use kratos' tattoos to bring life to jormungandr and i know that sounds pretty crazy but hear me out. The mural on the wall depicts atreus holding a dying man in his arms, now at first i didn't think it was kratos because of the lack of tattoos but it also shows a giant serpent like creature being born which is presumably jormungandr. There is theories that kratos is the world serpent but what if the world serpent is only a remnant of kratos, a reminder of him. Atreus would use his own mind and soul to create jormungandr out of kratos' tattoos in kratos' image but its not him jormungandr is an amalgamation of kratos and atreus and you might be wandering "well wouldn't he be red?" as i said atreus created jormungandr in kratos' image he is not kratos and the red he has from those tattoos is concentrated in jormungandr's eyes. If you read all my ramblings i appreciate it! But if there is a hole in the theory or you wanna add to it please just reply to this comment! i think the blades of chaos as well as the leviathan axe are here to stay. I think they will be very significant storywise. I agree with the surtr theory too. I do hope there will be a game involving the higher plain of existence
Thank God Kuba... Finally you changed the Background music to a suitable one..
Kratos really changed he went from:killing his son with the blades to saving his son with them.
Dude you're a genius
Lol thanks
you are right about surter
Bro predicted it
i think Tyr is in this higher existence
I have a theory .. Do you remember when Athena put hope in Pandora's box? It is possible that Athena put part of her energy into swords so that she could find Kratos's place wherever he went so that it would appear to him even in other worlds like Egypt and Scandinavia .
I honestly would love to see a mod in a cutscene he's calling the Axe back but the blades are jealous and come flying in instead and kratos's reaction being priceless and just madder causing more "chaos"😂
Probably Ares since he pulled them Off in Gow 1 and could have possibly cursed them while at it.
Yeah but he's dead
@@KaptainKuba I know but The Oracle is also dead and his white ashy skin still remains too Kuba
It kind of reminds me of a boomerang when you roll the way it comes back but this time with the blades it even worse because no matter how much you throw them away they always come back to haunt you
It's been long since you last made a theory video this will be great
I made one last week lol
@@KaptainKuba I didn't watch the fallen God one since I wasnt interested in the fallen god but seems like I need to watch it the last theory I watched was a month ago 😁
Just finished the theory and it makes a lot of sense thanks for another great theory Kuba! 😀
Connecting to Bain’s comment below about when Brok asked if the blades is a heirloom and Kratos said “no”
What if Brok actually sensed magic in the blades to make weapons family heirlooms; making sure that the son will receive the weapon when the father dies? Maybe, Athena wanted Kratos alive to make sure Loki exist, lives, train, and 1 day receive the blades for their plans. It can go back and connect to the wall at Jotemheim where Kratos sees himself in Atreus’ arms, and the “snake” thing in the painting from Kratos to Atreus IS actually the Blades.
Another thought, Loki is the catalyst of Change and Chaos, the blades represent both, changing the Greek relm and bringing chaos.
Great theory like always
thanks man
@@KaptainKuba glad that you replied btw I’m not sure if you remember me but I’m abdullah
Hey Kap!!! What if Tyr is also part of the Higher Plane of Existence? So far Kratos’ Destiny has led him to Norse where Tyr is nowhere to be found or dead.
Your videos are awesome!
Im glad you enjoy them
I believe it could be Persephone as she said that his suffering would never end and because the blades are a reminder of his past and his were used to kill his family they make him suffer in some kind of way....
In the novel, it was the Norse God's who were trying to stop Kratos from getting to the Blades. Whether it was stop him from saving Loki or from killing the Gatekeeper isn't said.
You should do a what if video about Artreus and how kratos tells him about his other family that died
I skipped this video a couple times bcuz I thought it was just a repeat video, bcuz I didn’t get a notification, but NEW VIDEO😩😩😩
Yeah youtube can be a pain in the ass lol
I always wondered why kratos kept the blades around him. This makes since.
What if your possessions don’t follow you so the axe is left behind but the blades are still with you, this could be their way of doing fan service since we would get to fight our way out of death ☠️ underworld style once more.
exactly what i think is going to happen:
Kratos dies
Shirtless in Valhalla
Only blades are there
we fight our way out
We fight heimdall before getting out of asgard.
@@youssefyoussef9418 this^
@@youssefyoussef9418 I wonder if he’s gonna be raging out of his mind at the thought of leaving Atreus behind when he dies
@@D_MEISTER15 he will im pretty sure. thats how old kratos will return. Atreus is the key. If he is gone, the Destroyer of Worlds will return.
@@youssefyoussef9418 man I can totally see how that would play out it makes sense for it to be near the start too so we can build him up with the blades first instead of the axe
One Best videos you ever did😉
I'm glad you liked it

If Kuba doesn't heart this comment, then hades is gonna come for his soul.
Oh dam 😂
@@KaptainKuba 😂😂😂😂
GAHAHAH Nc one
I love your videos bro ❤️
Gowu 😆👍 the surtur theory seems natural
On *July 8th* is the *State of Play* Event, will we see the gameplay trailer or something about *God of War Ragnarök?*
I think Kratos has unintentionally cursed them himself, even though he wants to forget about the past, he doesn’t allow himself to ever forget
Ironically the blade of chaos is the one who will prevent the chaos
Thanks for this.
I have this theory that if Kratos is somewhat immortal and could go in every major pantheon he will end the reign of gods and let human kind advance without the gods..
@@kiplingin5023
And begin the new age of Anno Domini and modern religions.
Wich blades are your Favorite, I love the Blades of Exile the most design wise.
Nostalgia wise the blades of Chaos
At least its still canon the boc and boa/boe are different blades
Your video is still valid even after the comics and thats great
Another great theory!!
Hey please answer this we know why Faye marked the trees for her protection but is there something else to that it looks like kratos knows something. And we never get an answer
PLEASE give us an "MCU-like" timeline for various God of War games and its plan/story:)
With the images of different mythologys in gow 2018 do you think kratos will visit roman mythology?
because they're magnetically attracted to his back, that's also why they just stick to his back.
You should talk in a future video about Mimir's past .... The knife Kratos and Atreas found in Tyr's temple had to do with Mimir's Homeland
Sgian-dubh is the name of that knife
I suggest that in order to understand the GoW world better because Mimir had also a journey before coming to Midgard

Hey Kuba i have a question I wish for u to answer what happend to the grave digger in gow 1-2 and ghost of Sparta as he was willing to bury Kratos when he's dead so is he still alive or has he died
Am I the only one who prefers the OG blades of chaos design? The one in the thumbnail
I also prefer the old design. The new Blades look much thinner and with rounded details, the Greek Blades seem to be heavier... I dunno, but something makes me like the OG Blades more too
yeah i hope they fix it. Brok and Sindri yall better do sonething about this
They look too big to me but I'm not a 6'6 god that kills for fun so...
Hey I just have a theory... The world (higher god's ) didn't want Atreus to die because that could cause Odin to win in Ragnarok in another timeline, my theory is that when Odin hung from the world tree and got all the wisdom he also learned about the higher plane, if he wins he could try and go to the higher plane and conquer it
Hey kuba my man whats up👍🏻👍🏻😉😉😉😉😉
Have y’all played the first game? Aries bound the blades of Chaos to Kratos after Kratos gave his life to Aries. There honestly shouldn’t be a theory of a higher existence bounding the blades to Kratos.
most people i talk to consider the newest novel secondary canon, mostly because there are a decent amount of contradictions within it too, for example, baldur impales kratos with a rock in the game, in the novel it says he used the leviathan axe, the second attack from modi didn't happen either :/
Its weird but in a way, I consider the book more canon than the game because they do things like eat 😂 but I see what you're saying
i always wondered as I'm playing the game, why can't i use the axe in a hand and chaos blade in the other?
I have a theory about the death of kratos and the birth of jormungandr
To keep it simple i think atreus will use kratos' tattoos to bring life to jormungandr and i know that sounds pretty crazy but hear me out.
(also sorry for any grammar mistakes 😅) have a nice day and tell me what you think!
I find it interesting that Loki (mcu) has 2 daggers he fights with and holds similar to kratos- Homage, perhaps?
I can’t wait till Kratos does Egypt, him and Atreus can be taking a vacation there and wouldn’t ya know it, Ra is not happy about it and shenanigans ensue.
Vacation? Poor Atreus, dont get his hopes up, since Kratos' idea of relaxation is combat training (as said in Lore and Legends) 😅😂
@@anonymousperson8211 You’re right now I imagine a montage of him killing Egyptian gods to the tune of Hoku-Perfect day with Kratos in a Hawaiian shirt and Atreus looking mortified 😂
@@donsolo7860 lol amazing 😂😂
Hey i got a theory what if kratos was just imagining that he was carrying the blades of athena and exile but in reality he was using the blades of chaos some reasons why i say this is kratos doesn’t want to use the blades of chaos but he has to so he imagines it’s different blades and in helheim we see that kratos was holding the blades of chaos not exile this obviously is just a theory but its a good excuse for not focusing on it too much
Just seeing now what Loki would ask Kratos on his adventures to Norse Land and Kratos would say "I meet a warrior who had a shovel for a weapon. I don't know why but he is now the Ghost of Shovels" and with this resent one even Kratos would say "I killed a Hippo as for it was my destiny to do so". Sorry still can't wrap my head around that Dark Horse Comic.
@5:45
I was wondering the same thing but nope. Same strength no upgrade
just a question. Is there a necessity for the curse to work(in this case the blades of chaos) the one who gave the curse should be alive in Greek mythology? By the way another quality attention to detail video by you.
I'm wondering what if the blades play a huge part in Ragnarok and not just because of Loki which is another reason why this is happening to Kratos. Maybe it will be like something you said in a previous video that he may die and go to Valhalla and the blades are the only thing that can save him
He had the blades the hole time in his armory when he became the god of war he just never used to the blades because he hated what they represented.
