Not gonna lie- I’ve seen a bunch of “gun guys” and “operators” shoot full auto 18’s and converted 17/19’s, and none with the amazing control of the recoiling weapon as displayed in this video by Larry. Bad assery at its finest. Greatest generation guys would be proud of him.
Danny:How would you rate a comped Smith 500 recoil wise? Highest I've gone is 480 Ruger out of a Super Redhawk. How does a 500 compare? Two 44 mags? Two 454 Casulls? More recoil? Just interested, will probably never get one. There are WAY too many other toys ahead on my wishlist. But boy, that 500 snubby is sexy! My Brother in laws friend has a Smith 460, atleast he can shoot 454, 45Colt, and I suppose 45 Schoefeild if he wanted to. The 460 launches a 200gn round at 2000fps, thats exactly the same as my 35 Remington outta my Rem81. I know that sucker kicks like a mule partly due to the long recoil action, ( an M1 felt like shooting a pop gun after my 81) I couldn't imagine shooting 200 at 2000 in a revolver.
It would dump a normal sized magazine within 2-3 seconds. Like he mentioned in the video, the super long extended mags will often jam. I wonder if there are high-tension springs available for the extra long mags.... But anyway I digress, a handheld pistol 99.9% of the time should be semi automatic. I'd take a 3 round burst switch on an AR anyday over this. But man would that 18c be fun to play with at the range, once 😅
I mean it's a perfect sidearm. You would just use it on single shot unless you were at close range. If you were held up inside of a structure, pop in the extendo and put it on full auto and let rounds go at enemy fighters until para-rescue AF guys come in.

I shot a rental G17C full auto conversion a few times at the gun store I worked at, and as long as you knew what to expect and had good grip, recoil wasn’t bad. Definitely usable on short bursts within 10-15 yards.
Awesome. First time I heard of this gun was through the Syphon Filter video game. It was known as the G18 in the game. It was one of my favorite guns to use in the game. Running through a 33 round magazine in mere seconds was awesome. I get it feels even better in real life.
Not unless you're rich and can afford to buy grandfathered weapons that were registered after the mid 80s. Basically most people can't afford it. Just a piece of metal that's registered can sell for a minimum of 10,000. All for a piece of metal that you drop in to make something automatic.

Hey Larry, great fun video. I disagree with you on one point though, I've had the opportunity to fire a g 18c and some converted FA glocks. I've never had an issue with any factory glock magazine, 33rounders included. That is speaking for shooting them in both semi auto and FA glocks. I will say I have seen issues with after market mags like scherer and promag.

I think it'd be bad ass because we will be doing drug busts and terroism busts and mostly using handguns so I'm trying to see how much work it'd be to get one to use while on duty

I got to shoot a G17C that was converted to select fire(Basically the same as this performance wise). It was surprisingly controllable I would say it's definitely a practical weapon.

The control is due to less recoil and rise from the compensator. My s&w 500 magnum has one, or it would kill at both ends.

Considering it was EKO Kobra that specifically requested it, and it's likely they undertake the largely the same mission types as other nations' SF units, so why would EKO Kobra need it and not others?

but damn Larry can make the full auto selector shoot flat as hell.. takes sum skill.. I mean I know the C helps immensely but you can always recognize the greatest of skill n the smallest of things
This guys a boss. Most people I’ve seen shoot this gun have trouble controlling it with a wire buttstock

I got to shoot a G17C that was converted to select fire(Basically the same as this performance wise). It was surprisingly controllable I would say it's definitely a practical weapon.
