    I have watched so many pilots on RUclips. After a while, it becomes evident who the good ones are based on how they handle their plane. Some make me very anxious; they don't seem fluid in their actions. After watching this, I would fly with Steve anywhere!

    Bust those 1 hour coffee minimums by keeping an extra screw-top travel cup hidden under
    the seat. The published single person flight endurance for a venti cup is 3.5
    hrs (deduct 3.0 hrs for children, the elderly, and nervous fliers). Placard the
    mug in a discrete manner and employ a checklist when pouring crew coffee.

    Great video, as usual. I will be at Oshkosh 26 through 29. Will look you up at Bose the 28th. I would like to fly my Cub up there from Tampa but probably wouldn't make it until October so I have tickets on Allegiant and camping out on grounds. I like it that you refused to sidestep to 21R, you have enough to do single pilot IFR without having to reset everything on final in the soup. Too many pilots think the controller is controlling the airplane. They don't call you pilot in command for nothing. Again, Great video, one of your best...see you in Oshkosh.

As for Florida and Georgia, way to humid for me although I do have friends in Atlanta & Albany. 1 hour before arrival, coffee time, not a problem in the PC-12 which has a restroom although you can't light a match or open the window. When do you think you'd be able to fly out here to the West Coast?

    Steveo, Because of your videos I was encouraged to pursue my commercial license. I'm a 800hr private pilot that is now a multi-engine commercial pilot. I also started working towards that CFI certificate. Awhile back you were talking about becoming a CFI. Are you a CFI? I'm flying from Boulder CO to Oshkosh. Maybe we will see you there. Will

    • @Rivikesojosh
      @Rivikesojosh 7 лет назад +13

      Will, unless you have a "calling" to teach mostly primary and some advanced flight students, if you're single and can live on meager wages, find a company that will hire you with 800 hrs. Don't waste your time and $$ on your CFI. CFI's are for guys who want to rack up time for free, and get paid for flying whenever the weather allows it and your students don't cancel. Rack up another 700 hrs, get your ATP and if you really want to teach, you can with your ATP as long as you're teaching on an aircraft for which a type rating is required. I got my CFI, CFII and MEI 33 years ago and I quit teaching 18 months after my initial CFI. And I lasted that long because 4 months after my initial CFI I got hired at a part 141 school that was on contract to conduct the flight curriculum of a 2 year college that offered a pilot program.
      Don't get me wrong; I love to teach. But I found that even on a Part 141 school like the one I taught for or schools like ERAU, ATP and the like, where students pre-pay and are more committed to learning, many students show up quite unprepared for their flight lessons, so you end up spending more time on the ground than in the air. When you get paid by the "teaching" hour (every CFI knows ground time doesn't pay as well as flight time) you depend on students that are ready and don't try your patience by having to repeat the previous lesson because they spent too much time partying and not studying. The love of teaching doesn't pay the bills. Just my $.02. Good luck!!

    • @willg9571
      @willg9571 6 лет назад +1

      Rivikesojosh, Thanks for the 2 cents! My CFI friends have shared the same story with me, they only want to fly with pilots that need a flight review or pursue more ratings. I thought being a CFI would not only look good on a resume but is a nice way to network myself into a flying job. I'm single and free to move around the country so what better way to meet people than hanging around a flight school and meeting all the local pilots. I just might meet someone with a C208 or TBM..

      Do either have any sort of rudder augmentation? We had a TAD (Trim Aid Device) in the T-6 that supplied additional right rudder input in flight regimes where it was needed, especially on takeoff. It was supposed to give the airplane a more jet like feel but you still had to kick in a decent amount of rudder

    I've wondered, in the beginning of your videos, you always climb inside the airplane and close the door, and you're filming it. Do you open the door, get back out and retrieve the camera, or does the lineman/linegirl hand it to you through the window? :)
    Do ALL the girls at ALL the FBOs know you, are you THAT famous (with your RUclips channel, you should be), or do you just ask them if they want to be in the video, and 'here's all you have to do!'?
    I was surprised that the controller asked if you wanted to take 21R, seeing he would have known you were IMC.
    Finally, I was watched Paul Bergarelli over on AvWeb, and he did a thing on gear up landings. What do you do as final checks to make sure the gear is down and locked?

      Pay attention (keeping in mind that he mostly operates solo) and you'll notice he does a lot of time consuming staged shots. Steveo puts in the extra time to give us way better than average production quality, I really appreciate it.

    Great !! I’ve just recently subscribed to your channel and this is one of the best “work “ videos. I especially enjoyed you showing the instruments when you were talking adjusting the torque for the altitude. Had to lookup “850 mode” to understand and you explained everything perfectly for this non-pilot to understand. What a plane !!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience😎👍

Your videos are some of the best promotion for Daher-Socata (www.tbm.aero/). Our company has been looking at the possibility of corporate aircraft and now consider TBM as one of our options because of you Steve.

    Steve, I enjoyed riding with you in the TBM and watching you go through the motion of take off and landing. Many years ago my brother-in-law had a Mooney Statesman that he let me fly from Bismarck to Albuquerque, NM. We left Bismarck just as front was moving in from the west. Somewhere over So. Dak. it hit and the winds literally lifted the plane and if I remember correctly blew us off course. Love flying and sir I do envy you in that beautiful plane. Thanks for the video.
