    IMPRESSIVE....VERY IMPRESSIVE. One of the best flight training videos I've ever seen. Shows the staccato thinking and talking required to be safe in the air. Also shows potential pilots what they're "getting into" BEFORE they even climb into an airplane. (an ex military pilot who wishes he had seen your video...50 years ago!)

    Got my private ticket in 1986 and did a lot of VFR flying for 15 years including many hours with an IFR rated friend. Time to get my IFR ticket. Looks like I have a lot learn. Thanks for your awesome videos you are a pleasure to watch.

    The best way to describe a single pilot fight is a conductor of an orchestra is directing and playing an instrument at the same time. Of course you make it look easy and sound good.

    Now that's special to have your solo recorded when steveo1kinevo is recording and waiting for you so he can take off, and even encouraging you in your journey.

    This was awesome! Brings back memories of IFR training where we’d take off and just about immediately start flying an approach into another field. Hard work, stressful, but SO rewarding.

    I never realized how great the workload that you have on single pilot IFR. You are the true professional who can give the rest of us a great ride, wonderful views and a step by step technical walk thru. Thank you so much for your great effort.

      @N1120A 6 лет назад +1

      The speed of the TBM makes the workload higher, though the high end AP and good avionics help. In a slower plane, you have lots of time to set up for these things.

    • @wloffblizz
      @wloffblizz 2 года назад

      @@N1120A To be fair, they had him going 150 knots for forever, so he kinda was "in a slower plane" for this flight!

    Great video. There's an old school teaching opportunity at about the 21:00 minute mark. As the localizer comes in on the HSI, you can see it matches up with the long white "lubber line" that's fixed at 12 oclock on the gauge. If you match the tip of the deviation bar with the tip of the Lubber Line, you should roll out on course with the optimum rate of roll. The autopilot did a nice job on that turn. An old instructor taught me that after I had stared at that gauge obliviously for over 1000 hours.

    Mr. Steveo, I THOROUGHLY enjoyed your video. (Happened across it looking for a video of my granddaughter.) I'm 72 y/o, but "played with" the Mac Flight Sim (for fun) after I retired years ago. I was never very successful with the flight sim, but I remember enough to be TOTALLY IMPRESSED with your piloting skills. Your confidence, knowledge of your aircraft and procedures, and ability to focus on multiple tasks are amazing. Your age, red hair and cool confidence reminded me of my younger son... and when you pulled out the skateboard... you could have been my son! ;-) Best wishes for continued success in aviation! ~ Fred

    I used to fly out of this Airport during my PPL training when the FBO was called Leading Edge Aviation and the airport was called Vandenburg. I miss those days. Excellent little airport. Piper Cherokee 18PE was my ride!!!! Then I switched to KPIE to do my instrument rating at CAMS. But I kept loosing instuctors to Airlines and other jobs, then CAMS went out of business and I ran out of money.....didnt finish my rating though I wish I did. I flew the Cherokee 330FT out of KPIE. Cherokees were always my favorite ride!!!

    Clever, Steve as steve. Been following for a long time and I think you are in a rush, flying an aircraft with speed and power that is not needed or welcomed on a safe approach. Great job on showing how single pilot is 100% consumed. A good lesson for anyone flying or chartering. Charter or hire for two pilots...one of them is going to be more concerned about selfies.

      The Private Pilot Exam is not difficult if you study. The Instrument Rating Exam is the most difficult exam, you need to put in a lot of study for that; instrument flying single pilot is very intense and you must stay very focused to stay ahead of the airplane at all times.

    My good friend... Make that GREAT friend, (I was his safety pilot helping him keep his IFR current), and I flew my 3 (young) nieces (uncle Brian, uncle Brian, uncle Brian all the way down ;-)+ my father from KHKY to Vandenberg Airport right b4 9/11 in his older (no auto pilot) Cherokee six. It is true that old saying, if you can put it in a six then it'll fly ;-) When we took off from HKY the controller asked us to go up to 6K, we said we could... but it might take a while ;-) After dropping off our passengers we flew up to Crystal River to visit some relatives, when we left we flew around the power plants to take a few pics, (can't do that now I guess). On the trip back CLT allowed us to fly directly over the tower, that was amazing watching all the heavy iron landing and taking off right below us :-) Take care Mr Steve"o", and thank you for all your hard work promoting aviation!!!

      How much do you want to bet when Steveo first started out, he wasn't any better than what FC is now? In six months of getting his rating, Steve will be fine, and provided he can spend time in the system and get some IFR time under his belt, by then it'll all be old hat. It's a matter of doing it enough to be comfortable with it.

    Very Nice Trip ~ Way back to April 1985 I was 17 and down from Michigan staying with friends (St Pete Beach) while on spring break. Paramount Studios was in the area filming for the movie Summer Rental starring John Candy. Keeping this short I met him privately after filming was finished for the day. Our location was on the beach and a mile or so south of the Don CeSar Hotel. Candy's temperment and personality was exactly like the characters he played in most movies. He had a very big heart. Great Man and Great Actor.

      @@jayzenitram9621 Now this is what I think I heard. Less than $700.00 each. Remember this was only about 10 years after WW2 so that figure was probably close. A long time ago for me :-)

      @@ocktebyHoly Mollie! Just did an inflation calculation on 700 1958-dollars. That's a little over $6000 in today dollars. I have a 10 year old truck that's more than that.

    After so much time in the same aircraft, it must be so easy and effortless. You just need to insure complacency does not take hold. I bet you could do starts and shutdowns blindfolded.

    Nice little short hop there Steve. Those short IFR flights will definitely test you! I can say without a doubt that it's some crazy airspace down there. I was pretty surprised with how many aircraft are flying around along the eastern coast of Florida when we came down that way along the eastern seaboard.

    ATC gave out a ton of vectors in your transition (you even got a hold inside IMC!). We will be at SunNFun this year...checking out the Vashon.

    Great job! I'm based out of Punta Gorda with Allegiant on the A320 but I occasionally fly some trips out of KPIE. I'll be on the lookout for your TBM.
