Salmon Fly Fishing | Abercynrig | River Usk | Wales UK | September 2023

- After 3 days of waiting for the river to drop after Storm Agnes, we left the pub and ventured down to Abercynrig on the River Usk. My friend Scott and I arrived in Brecon and few days before and met some local fishermen in the pub and they recommended we try this beat available through the Fishing Passport for £25 each.
Tonight's video is slightly different from my normal format because of some really annoying issues with the footage I took off my go pro. In some clips the audio doesn't match the video and I am hoping that this won't be included in the upload.
Hi, my name is Chris and my channel is called Cornish Chris the Fish. I am a Cornishman venturing out beyond the Duchy (of Cornwall) to experience life on the road full time touring in my Caravan Dalleth Arta, fly fishing for Salmon and vlogging my adventures. I am charting my salmon fly fishing adventures and will profile each fishery that I attend. I may even catch a few fish 😀. All views are my own good or bad.

Lovely watch Chris, that looks like a cracking river and beautiful trout you got there. Looking forward to the next one 👍
Thanks Robert 👍
Good time to be on that beat as its quite a way up river
Excellent chris. Some good trout there.
Thanks 👍
Great video Chris. Some stunning spots on those trout.
Thanks 👍
Good to see that Oracle get a few bends. Looking forward to getting mine back over there next summer. Keep having fun.
Hey thanks for commenting - HansFreeSolo, love the name!!
A good warm up 👍
Yes indeed!
Shame that you didn't get to fish the bottom pool on the right hand bank. I'm a bit surprised that you needed to use forceps to release the hook from the out of season brownies.
I did I had some technical issues with my camera and lost some of the footage. I use forceps almost all the time now as my arthritis makes it difficult to grasp small hooks
I love wales. Last year I was visiting a Welsh speaking friend in Hereford, which I know isn't Wales before anybody corrects me, so I spent weeks learning Welsh, and the bugger spoke English the whole time. English is neither his nor my first language, so I know that he only did it to mess with me.
I didn't take my rod, which was a mistake because we were right on the Wye, but I will next time. I could see some *huge* fish in there.
It's worth the trip for Brownies Chris but not Salmon. 👍
Suits me. I tend not to target salmon, because then you dont catch anything if you dont hook into one most of the time. I'll happily travel the length of the Uk for brownies.@@CornishChrisTheFish
