My fishing pal just sent me this. I'm sat in work absolutely bored to tears. I'm all fired up now and ready to fish again after watching this. There's not a truer word spoken when he says he looks forward to the season ending and then can't wait for it to start again! The misery and pain we all put ourselves through but we wouldn't change a thing. I'll definitely be picking up your book. Many thanks.
Cracking film. Boo is rapidly becoming a hero to me. The yanks might have trout bums, we have salmon boos. I’m going to make a point of watching this on repeat whilst skiving from work. I think Boo and his Lanky posse will approve!!!
One of the best films about salmon fishing I have ever seen. This is the spirit. Much rather than lifting salmon after salmon in slow-motion out of the water... Thanks!
I have a story about a similar fellow though, here it is. My close fishing friend knew of a group of anglers who went up every year to the north of Scotland, in there party was a very old boy who had been shot up in the war, he insisted on salmon fishing though it hurt, he couldn’t walk properly, would link arms with a young man, who walked him out into the pool, and them would leave him for some time, before he was moved on, a bit like being a Chess Piece on a watery version of that game. Now that’s grit. Different person, different generation, same angler. Good show.
Brilliant, i really enjoyed that thanks, spoken from the heart about a passion that so few could ever understand or get to experiance. Tightlines for 2024 👍
I'm from the ribble and started 3 months ago salmon fishing Everything you have just said is bang on! It's an obsession morning day night. Fantastic I'm sure I'll bump into you at some point! It's a small community Best wishes Mark kellett
Steelheading here in the PNW is exactly the same. I tell my friends that are trying to get into it you can’t dabble in steeleading, you must be fully committed and obsessed to become successful. This is my favorite part of it all. It’s not for everyone and I like it that way.
You really caught me! Beautiful film. The real goal of "salmon fishing"; sense of beauty, aesthetic and, most of all, nature respect. I'm obsessed too from the early 1981. My first scots leaper. Hope to find your book into italian language, maybe I'll find some answers too. Or not? Thanks
Well Damon you so captured Hooked on Hope! Boo is so charismatic, and his books are fabulous! As a northener currently living and working in Nova Scotia I'm now massively homesick, and want to walk the bank with Boo and watch him cast. Fabulous Mate!
Having read all of his three books, this was a total treat. I'm just starting after the salmon this season and it's all down to your books. Thanks for making it Damon. Cheers
Wonderful stuff! Fabulously shot and edited. I've never really felt any interest in fishing fishing for salmon... but James Gilbraith puts it across in way that just resonates. Great work, Gents. 👍🎣👏👏👏
Great film, it really encapsulates the wider aspects of why we fish, not just salmon. James always comes across really well when he’s been on Fly Culture, through his podcast and books and it’s great that you made this film. All the best with your various other projects going forward, Damon.
Awesome film, guys! I'm envious of the quality of production and vibe you managed to portray as a utuber myself! Unfortunately, my obsession spans over several species of coarse and game fish, so there's no break from it for me! I'll look into Mr Gilbraith's work with interest! Good to see the majesty of our northern rivers promoted too! Well done 👍👍👍
I’ve lived near the Ribble (and fished it) for the last 50 years. Never thought of it as pretty. Until now. Top camera work. Boo; you are an inspiration!
It's a special place, encapsulated by Boo and his lifestyle. We're glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the compliment on the camera work. Much appreciated!
Enjoyed watching that, very enjoyable. I may be mistaken but did I see Dave Jacko Jackson in the images of the group fishing at Stocks. Was a dear friend of mine, we fished on the Aberdeenshire Dee many times together! Sadly he is no longer with us RIP my friend!
I invited him to join us on the Junction Pool on the Tweed, he drove up from Nelson early am I think is where he lived and within ten minutes he had a fish in the net!
Very interesting but to me salmon fishing is over now, and I don’t want to hassle a fish in such a dramatic struggle to survive what man has done to them and the environment.

Absolutely brilliant, he explains the salmon fishing experience of the ordinary man…
Just bought your three books mate, pay my dues to the artist 🙏🎣
Brilliant film. I salmon fish on the Ribble also. I had 4 last season, off to Scotland this weekend and then back to the Ribble next week 👍🎣
Brilliant, i really enjoyed that thanks, spoken from the heart about a passion that so few could ever understand or get to experiance. Tightlines for 2024 👍
Thank you so much. Same to you - tight lines for the season ahead!

Brilliant, best thing I've seen in a while!
Thank you. That means a lot!

That said I loved this, it really brought back the days of glory, Spey, Tay, Namsen, Stjordal, Laerdal.
Having read all of his three books, this was a total treat. I'm just starting after the salmon this season and it's all down to your books. Thanks for making it Damon. Cheers
You're very welcome. It was a pleasure to work on this project.

Superb film Damon. Obviously would expect no less and a terrific subject. Well done both.

Most excellent
Great film . Hardened salmon angler there. Through thick or thin we keep covering the water in the hope of the tug ..
Couldn’t have said it better. Many thanks for watching!

Thank you so much for the kind words - couldn’t have done it without the willingness of the man himself!
Nice one that man loved this film
Thanks so much. Really appreciate that!
Great job! Aspects of fishing can be difficult to describe, but you've (both) captured it perfectly. Well done.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Truly delightful film. Thank you for sharing such lovely work.

Not David in the photo but I did meet him a couple of times - he was chairman of CAA - lovely guy
@playhappy123 good angler too and lovely bloke, thanks for confirming
I was fortunate to buy his flies off him before he passed. He knew he couldn’t go again. I use them every time I’m out.
I invited him to join us on the Junction Pool on the Tweed, he drove up from Nelson early am I think is where he lived and within ten minutes he had a fish in the net!
Ha that is a common theme in all the stories about him. Whatever the magic “it” is. He had it in abundance
Det var en flink gutt ja!
Perfect
🙏🏻
99% of the time? You haven't fished with me. Nice work.
so true the Tug is the Drug
I have no sound after 5 seconds on both phone and tv app?
Sorry to hear that! I hope you got that sorted. It’s working fine on this end.
Works if I watch via the instagram link 👍
Mine is the same. No sound
Anyone know the name of the song just after 6 minutes?
Hi. It's called Giant Microphone by Con Davison. All Music is credited in order of appearance at the end. Hope that helps!
@@wildrivermediauk thank you very much. I looked out for it but must have missed it. Wonderful film.
