Just threw another big log into the fire raging in my heart. My eyes long for the wild, my hands are furious with modern abandon, my feet ache for the stones, my skin bristles and my hair jumps for the cold northern wind, my voice wonders if it can hear me ❤️🔥
You guys are like Tarantino of Fly fishing movies. Period. Truely the storys and how you tell them make me immerse into the world that i see before my eyes. It lights a fire of wanting/striving to slowly/gradually shifting my life further to the North. Yet i want to look back at my life with the same feeling that i have inside me now from watching this. My only wish when my time will come is that i take a thick notebook of memories with me, that will be my treasure. Thank you for the love/time/care you put into these videos.
Thanks, Arturs!! Such kind words. We've got a feeling that you'll make it exactly where you hope to be. Just gotta keep the faith, and never give up on a dream! It may look like we've got it all figured out, but just like you, we're works in progress ;)
Thanks, Danny! We had a checklist of goals going into this project and one of them was to get a closeup, slo motion take of a salmon on the surface. We never got it, but we were close! Next time...
Incredible film! The camera work, editing, sound, essentially everything in this film is superb! I spent a couple weeks of every summer for a decade fishing in the Ungava region, on the Whale river, near the George. Ungava is so special, and this film really captures it. I had Sam as a pilot back when he was about 17 years old!
@@TightLoops So many amazing, big rivers up there: Whale, George, Koksoak, Payne, and Leaf, plus a zillion smaller ones and tributaries. Brookies, lakers, char and salmon depending where you are and the season. A lifetime's worth of exploring awaits.
Didn't realise this was one of your video's! Must admit to having a schoolboy crush on Aimee at 65 years old! Love your work guys. You keep our dreams alive ✌🙏🙃 Best wishes from South East Australia 😍
I am again, boggled by the films you make! Gorgeous cinematography. Gripping stories that merge human and natural interest; serene and invigorating. Some if the best soundtrack and editing in the business.
Thank you for acknowledging my comment I litterally just finished your latest video brilliantly put together kind of had bts scenes thrown in made it feel really real
this was so dam good! the section over classical music is fucking magic. you guys have become my #1 source of entertainment when I cant be on the water!
I absolutely love all of your content! I'm re-watching this for probably the 6th time to get my self hyped up to go steelhead fishing in the morning! I gotta ask when are we going to have the privilege of seeing you guys throwing zonkers in steelhead alley?
You guys rock! I am from Italy and I live in Boston MA so once an a while I take little trips with my wife but nothing as you do,I think I have to take more time off and do it more often 😁🙏🌍🌈🎣
Cheers! We used to live just south of Boston. You’re close to some great fishing (a couple hours drive) around New England. Good luck and thanks for the support!
Thanks Jon!! So hyped to see your channel if finally getting the recognition it deserves! Hope you guys are safe and healthy. Check out our latest video, it's got some Ontario goodness for you. Man, its rough country out there 😅
For what its worth this is the far north, right on the line of the Arctic, so its not THAT close. But yeah, if you head up to that general region of the atlantic there's a lot of incredible fish, though it's worth noting that theres only a fraction of what there used to be. Current estimates for the number of wild atlantic salmon left in North America (that includes all of Canada, obviously) is about 100,000. Which is nothing.
Wowwww I was stunned throughout the whole film. I was imagining myself being on the same trip and it made me feel so good. Those days in the tent, in the middle of the bushes, without having any sort of communicstion at all to any other human being that's what is called a real vacation and relaxation 😇😇😇 Great video guys. I envy You 😀✌👍
Thanks so much! P.S. we are stuck in place with very slow internet. We are still looking forward to watching your film. We're just not able to right now!

We don't think so! If you're a serious salmon angler (and we're talking the original salmon fishing here, Atlantic Salmon) It doesn't get much better than this. But in the end "greatest" is entirely subjective. I think small streams with 6 inch trout are some of the greatest on earth. Others want 20 inch stockers. It's up to you to decide. But the people we met on The George who have fished every corner of the planet say this is the one place that can't ever seem to get enough of, and that's saying something.
@@MrKveite1 I will make this simple! Alaska has the best fishing on earth! Clean water, best wilderness habit on earth! You want to dio this???😉Wanna look stupid???
@@troyottosen8722 I am not so sure wich one of us who is looking stupid tbh but you can keep your small atlantic salmon while i fish for the big ones here...
It ain’t cheap. But once you learn how much it costs to run an operation like that, it all starts to make sense. There’s really no way around it, and once you start doing the math of what it would cost to DIY it yourself, it’s a marginal difference to have the amazing experience of the lodge. But they understand the demographic is limited, and have recently built a more hands off cabin that’s significantly cheaper. You don’t get the full guided experience and all the home cooked meals, but the amenities are still top notch. John Gierach once pointed out the conundrum of northern wilderness fishing; when you’re young, you can’t afford it, and by the time you can afford it you’re too old to do it. In his view, it was the guides who really got to experience everything the land had to offer while still having the health to appreciate it.
kind of comparing apples to oranges there, Troy. Alaska is an incredible place, no doubt, but until you've been to the eastern Canadian north, you'll never know. They're essentially the same environments, just different species. Just as wild, just as rugged, and just as beautiful.
Alaska salmon way different...Alaska's an incredible place, but everyone we met on the George has spent lots of time in Alaska, but this is the place they come back to every year. If youre a serious salmon fisherman, nothing compares to Atlantic Slamon, and this place is as good as it gets. Not to dog on Alaska, it's one of the most incredible places on earth. But this is apples and oranges.
Tight loops until you gave actually fished Alaska off our “few roads”, you can’t even compare Alaskan fishing to Eastern Canada to here, Even your British Columbia and Yukon provinces know this!
Also, calling it "Alaskan" vs "Canadian" laughable. It's the same place. Just because we've got an imaginary line drawn in the sand saying Alaska belongs to the us doesn't make it separate from what you're calling "Canada". Same place, dude. Either way, you should put it to the test and fish some of the rest of artic/sub artic. I think you'll be surprised. Worst think that could happen is you see some incredible and wild country. I'm sure you wouldn't regret it.
Tight loops? Wild country??? How about fishing next to the biggest brown bears in the world here in coastal Alaska? How about salmon so thick going upstream that they bump into my hip boots? How about an Alaskan wilderness your ignorant ass only dreams of and see’s on fishing shows! Save your jealous crap, you have nothing compared to Alaska, Simple!!!!!!!
ok, Troy. I have zero energy to argue about this. You're a lucky man to live in such an incredible place. It's a shame you think less of other places because of it, but thats fine. I hope you and you're family are safe and healthy. It's a weird time to alive, even in Alaska.
