    "If you can't win then do something spectacular to get some TV time..." Well, Al Boughen in that Mercury Comet has certainly got that box ticked in spades. I love watching these old brutes being put through their paces in this series, and the drivers certainly aren't holding back despite the fact that a lot of these cars are worth a ton of money and are rather rare now. Love it, love it, love it...

      hmmmm. I wouldn't touch one of these with a yard stick.
      Imagine all the welding and bondo underneath that nice paintwork... These cars live in garages that have all the tools for bodywork etc.
      Apart from the cool looks I think thats all.

      @@team3383 That's pretty much the same for any racing saloon or GT car. If they've seen any/much racing use they're all pretty ugly under the paint...

      @@gosportjamie Thats exactly what I'm saying. But you obviously didn't read.
      They may LOOK ok ... The rest ....

    How appropriate that Boughen in the Mercury doing those skids has the exact same number as Shane van Gisbergen. Both run the number 97. :P

    As a Yank, I don't recognize the red & white car that won. What is it?

      Mate this is known as a Holden Torana SLR 5000. The coupe version (known as A9X) were very successful race cars in their heyday. Having won the great race, Bathurst. And being driven by what some would call an Aussie legend, Peter Brock, look him up. Had a running battle with Ford driver Dick Johnson, who now runs a very successful race team (have won last 2 championships!!!!) with your very own Roger Penske! With the last Aussie falcon, and the first new Mustang. His son Steven Johnson is driving the green and yellow Mustang.

      Also the car that was spun out halfway thru, is an A9X Torana. Small 2 door coupe with a lot of 5.0L V8 engine!

    Very dirty driving and very few penalties. How can this be considered professional?

    • @griffinfaulkner3514
      @griffinfaulkner3514 6 лет назад

      The same way NASCAR is considered professional. You've got a bunch of big cars with lots of power and not much grip. Sooner or later someone's going to run out of room. It certainly makes for interesting races, though.

    • @Nizzino_40

      Its not exactly “professional”, its an Amateur racing series
