But Alopecia isn't as simple as having a bald spot on your head. I have 2 close relatives who have the disorder and it can really impact someone psychologically. It was especially hard for someone I know as hair is really important to black culture. I'm not sure if disability is the right word for it as I'm not educated enough to say, but it's an autoimmune disorder that isn't just fixed by wearing a wig. I know this is *not* something Adam has said or is implying when the three of them are talking about how Jada is incredibly manipulative, but I think there needs to be some clarity because it can be misconstrued that Will Smith assaulted Chris Rock _because_ of Jada's toxic and abusive behaviour towards her husband. This is something I've seen most people do where they can't seem to divorce (haha) talking about Will's actions from Jada's manipulation. I feel like, if the Smith family weren't so open about how garbage and abusive they are as a family, people would only concentrate on the fact that Will slapped a man in public in a very formal event.
    Jada did not make Will slap a man, that was a decision he made on his own. Another decision he made for himself, as an adult, was not divorcing Jada, and one other decision he made as an adult was to publicly display how psychotic his family is. Infantilising a grown man by calling him a baby at best takes away his autonomy and does not allow us to view him as a rich, privileged man who is perfectly capable making his own decisions, and at worst, justifies his actions.

    • @nico.f.
      @nico.f. 2 года назад +2

      Agreed. Some people are eager to apologize for Will and cast Jada as an irreedeemable malevolent harpy. I think it's based on implicit mysogyny, hollow moralizing and pseudo-clinical aspersions and epithets, including here from Adam. It's upsetting how much liberty people take to irresponsibly denigrate complete strangers. The public knowledge on this issue is only superficial, if not misconstrued or based on falsehoods, because it's a fundamentally private matter, turned to the public by a ravenous sensationalistic media and its consumers (though with much collaboration from the Smiths).
      The discourse over the Smith family is a grotesque cross-section between celebrity gawking spectacle and dangerous armchair pop-psychology rhetoric.

    • @Thethingummything
      @Thethingummything 2 года назад +1

      @@nico.f. you know what, fair, i very deliberately tried not to bring up misogyny because a lot of people read that word and tune out, but i actually fully agree with a lot of what youre saying. the problem is a lot of people are not well-informed about how pervasive the 'it's the mother's fault' trope is (imagine trying to explain that to the youtube comment's section), which is why i end up using the capitalist/elitist argument, where i try to tell my friends that celebrities are far too rich to be as dramatic as they are and should really keep to themselves

    • @nico.f.
      @nico.f. 2 года назад

      @@Thethingummything They are rich assholes and everything they do is coloured by that fact, that is certain. I don't believe that should distract us from a baseline exercise of empathy, which is why all the noxious rhetoric is so concerning to me.
      Much in the same way, I believe that the ubiquitousness of mass media and celebrity culture shouldn't distract us from: a) understanding that the lives and relationships of famous people are, elementarily, none of our business; and b) understanding that we could never be privy to all the details of their private affairs anyways.
      Apart from the relatively kind infantilization of Will against the demonization of Jada, another example of mysogyny in this discourse is based on the status of the marriage between them. Besides reiterating that the public at large isn't privy to the nature of their relationship, the issue is that people often bring up Jada's infidelity, but rarely mention Will's infidelity, which is as much public knowledge as the former. Women are commonly judged more harshly for "cheating" than men; men also commonly adhere to the idea that adultery is the worse kind of cheating, because it debases the woman and emasculates the man. That subtext is everpresent, in both jokes and in earnest seriousness.
      Couple that with the petty moralizing rhetoric of armchair pop-psychology (Jada as a psychopath/sociopath, narcissist manipulator, even a "monster"), based on nothing but scant and circumstantial evidence, and you have a terribly pernicious message being disseminated.

    I seriously hope Jared Leto is such a tremendously irritating human being, on set and in real life, that Hollywood keeps hiring him, only to have him go through hundreds and hundreds of takes, and then deliberately pick and choose the absolute worst material - just to bring him down a notch. I can't think of any other reasonable explanation for his career.
    That being said, Captain Midnight had a pretty novel idea for the Kraven the Hunter movie: have Robert Eggers write and direct it. Any thoughts on great contemporary directors to save the current Sony shipwreck, and for which characters?

Can't see why Villeneuve/Ridley Scott bothered to cast him in their movies. Maybe because he had a band, an instagram so he can market himself and their films.
      But His career needs to die. He needs to start doing straighr to VOD shit like John Travolta or Michael Madsen. Someone on twitter who worked with him said "I know a stuff or two that will destroy his career. They will come up to light very soon because he is THAT stupid"

    I enjoyed the first Jurassic World on a surface level, but how stupid the franchise has become since has retroactively tainted it for me. The whole series is a gigantic piece of garbage. The fact that Colin Trevorrow actually thought that his Joker comment would be a selling point for the movie just proves how clueless and inept he and his whole team is.

  • @sirpsycactus

    Colin Trevorrow calling the Giganotosaurus (which I should also note is a real thing, with how Adam said it I'm not sure he knows that) 'like the Joker' makes me happier than it should. Normally, I would be sad at how horribly the Jurassic Park series has fallen since the original movie (or two, honestly, the second one has a soft spot in my heart), but people have misinterpreted the meaning of the movie and series SO BADLY that I can't even be sad at how far it's fallen. The Indoraptor winking at the camera makes me fucking lose it. I love how shitty these new movies are, and I hope it never ends. Who cares. I can go watch the first movie if I want a good JP movie.

    As with many bad films, Gigli was tinkered behind the scenes. Originally, Martin Brest turned in a 160-minute cut that was darker and violent than the released flick. It focused more on the crime aspect with a different ending attached. Halle Berry was supposed to play Rikki, but left due to scheduling conflicts with X-Men 2. Jennifer Lopez was cast instead, being paid $12 million as well as Ben. Once the studio saw the Bennifer craze on the tabloids, they ordered Brest to cut 40 mins out as well as re-writing/re-shooting many sequences to make it a romantic comedy. The deleted footage can be found in the trailers. When Gigli eventually came out, it was a box office bomb, with UK cinemas dropping the film after its first week. According to Matt Damon, Ben will twitch whenever someone mentions the film.
    I find Gigli to be a boring flick. Sure, there are some unintentionally funny moments like Walken's pie monologue, the terrible one-liners and random setpieces. But aside from that, it's a lot of standing around at Gigli's flat or driving about LA. The plot is like if someone combined Midnight Run and Chasing Amy (Another film starring Ben Affleck where he's in love with a lesbian), minus the charm or maturity that those flicks had. The acting? Not good. For a real-life couple, Ben and Jennifer have zero chemistry, with them being miscast for their respective parts. How bad is your film that you can make a scene with Jennifer Lopez doing sexy poses while talking about sex come off as dull?

    • @1997residente
      @1997residente 2 года назад +8

      There are 3 things that surprises me:
      1) Everyone ignores the fact Martin Brest was nóminated for best picture and director for Scent of a woman, which gave Al Pacino his only oscar.
      2) The director of photography of Gigli is Robert Elswitt who worked with PTA since 1996 to 2014. He would win an oscar for There will be blood, but seeing how PTA is the DP of his new films, i can see he had more control for his visuals...because Gigli is one of the most visually boring films from the 2000s.
      3) I found it funny how Sardonicast reviewed Come and See, a movie so ACCLAIMED the director retired after that. And now they are reviewing Gigli, a movie so PANNED the director retired after that.

    I should point out for Jurassic World Dominion on 14:42 , The Gigantosaurus to be fare is a real animal and it was technically bigger then Tyrannosaurus Rex, However it's debatable if it really was Bigger, since there are few Fossils of Gigantosaurus and plenty of Tyrannosaurs Fossils to Study.
    I would say the design of the Gigantosaurus grew on me and I don't think there's nothing too much wrong with it accuracy wise.
    However there just using the trope of animal that's bigger then T-rex because it's cool.
    It's a old trope that's been used ever since it's discovery. (Dino Crisis is an example of this)
    Which isn't even new since Jurassic Park 3 had the Spinosaurus and that is much bigger then both the T-rex and Gigantosaurus.
    I don't blame Adam for not knowing that the Gigantosaurus is a real animal though, since it's popularity was decreasing ever since Spinosaurus appeared in the public consciousness.
