Great video. Great information. Can't wait to see the MCD probite. I have 2 of them. Like to see your take on them. I remember your video on maintenance of the probite a while back .
Something a lot of us take for granted and don't take the time to check. I wonder how many of my springs are not what I thought they were. Good info brother!
Hello my friend!, I love the FS Sinter clutch, I drive it in my 34cc G4z Reed Baja SX5, in my 32cc Falcon Reed TLR-B and in my 29cc Reed FG Marder, it has worked everywhere without any problems for years....Best Greats from Austria/Falco ! ❤
Hey bro, kinda lost, been out of the rc hobby for several years. Recently bought the Rovan D5 36cc awd buggy.....clutch is shot, need a new one, along with clutch bell housing, a few tools as well. For bashing/quicker engagement, what do u recommended?
Hey. I'm not sure what size clutch is on that vehicle. If a 52mm then a good stock zenoah clutch will work with a 9000 rpm spring. The bell I'm not sure about because I'm not sure if it's proprietary to rovan or not. The way it engages the pinion gear is different among brands. So if you change to a different bell you may have to get that brands pinion as well. Tools get a good hex driver set like MIP or Proline. Detroit performance also makes a good driver but attachment for a power screwdriver. Also get some decent sockets and ratchet. No need for snap on but teknik is a decent brand w a comfy feel. Good luck bro.
Wassup Thadeus. They will be having their 1st list race 1/21/24. The address is 6200 Keystone St, Philadelphia PA 19135. Most races start around 11 or so. Their list races will be the 3rd Sunday of every month. No events are planned yet.
Something is wrong with the clutch of my "new" baja, turning the wheels turns the engine. Previous owner tightened the screws so hard that I'll have to take it to the LHS tomorrow👍
That's not right. Need to remove and see if the clutch is binding or broken spring. You can get tight bolts off by heating them up. A small torch I use for this.
Will do bro. I did mention the 8mm and 9mm bolt differences. I figured most guys new how to install them, but were oblivious like I was on what the spring rates and shoe types were. I'll do another vid later on the basics.
I'm want to be competitive with my Baja off-road in drag racing. What's a good clutch to use to get the rpm up fast and engage quickly. Right now, I have this slow wind before I reach peak rpm
@CrucialRC OBR 32 reed. Also, what kind of fuel is best. I know you're not going to give up all your secrets, but I'm really trying to be competitive and learn as much as possible.
For a 32cc I would be above a stock 8k spring for sure. For fuel I would use a ethanol free 91 octane fuel unless your engine is built for higher octane.
Im really considering MCD XS5 but my biggest question is the price. I saw a model for $1300 and another for $2000. I'm cool with the price of both but is there a massive difference between the two other than aluminum parts?
1st off is the question of what are your plans with the car? Drag racing, on/off-road, bashing, course racing? There is a massive difference between the $1400 max pro, $2000 mx for, and $2600 max ultimate. Diff, diff cases, alloys, radio tray, shocks, etc. All depends on budget and what you want to do with it.
Thanks for all your help bro I'm ordering mine in a week or so. I'm not sure if you have made a video on tuning in the past but if not could you please make one?
Then also explain why u want a spring to get at 9000rpm and not one of 5000 rpm. I have tried all kinds and preffer a normal one 6lrpm sometimes i want to drive slowly. at 9 or 10k rpm i might be able to.
If you are racing you want your engine to always be in its powerband. For drag racing the race is only around 3 seconds or less and you want the most out of your engine in those seconds. Otherwise think about it like this. A 23cc would struggle and bog down while trying to spin up a 8 or 9k clutch but a 34cc in average bashing would probably love that clutch. But that 34cc at a 98 or 9k spring while drag racing might leave power on the table while traveling down the track gaining rpm to full potential. At that time you could be 1/2 way to the finish line before the engine is in its powerband. It's all in what you are planning to do with the engine.
Ok i haven’t changed anything the clutch in stock but I might put up the zen clutch on , im just trying to get my take off faster i have different gears already and a pipe but im missing something i think lol
Great information Lance!! Clutch’s are often overlooked by bashers until 💨! Great video
Exactly Kyle. Thanks for watching.

Looks like your boy Luis beat me to it. He has a video on the probite

Yup, I learned the hard way. LOL. Thanks for watching Allen.
Man you need to hop on the Live with Gap and them so you can give the audience this 1/5 knowledge bro 💪🏾💯
Yeah, I may do that this year.
Thanks for that video because I was totally lost when it came to figuring out what clutch to use for each different engine .🤷👍
Glad it helped
Thanks for sharing Lance 👊

Awesome. Good to here. Thank you for commenting!
Good info Brother!
Thank you 🙏🏽
Lance excellent video! I learned a lot especially since I haven't even reached that chapter yet. See you at Wagner once the weather warms up.👍👍👍
Can't wait!
Your have motivated me to get back into 1/5 scale here in Charlotte. Any update on Bishops Duox?
Awesome. Great to hear. Bishop's Duox did great last year racing at Wagner. He's still learning and getting faster.
Do you ever gone to Charlotte to run. I'm trying to find people here but it's hard
No I haven't. We go to Rockingham NC to race dragsters tho.
Ok

Lance,
I see some of your videos of guys racing in Philly. Where and when do you guys run. I’d like to come and check it out.
Thanks,

@@CrucialRC Thanks for the info. I’ll be heading over there to check it out.
Good stuff. Are you from the area? If so you could join their list.
Yeah I’m in Jersey right over the tacony bridge. I’ll also be going to the onroad races. I had a dbxl and now a 5t. Dragging and onroad look like fun.
That's wassup. Can't wait to race with ya. See ya at the line!

Clutch bolts probably backed out and touching the bell.
👍🏽 this will help a lot of people.
Appreciate that
Very useful -thank you
Glad I could help out a little.
If you will make more videos about clutches- mention bolts(cy/zen) than washers, fitting zen shoes on cy carrier/cy on zen carrier etc..
Will do bro. I did mention the 8mm and 9mm bolt differences. I figured most guys new how to install them, but were oblivious like I was on what the spring rates and shoe types were. I'll do another vid later on the basics.

My guy. Happy bday bro.

Lol
What tech owner do you recommend? Thanks and have a great day!
Hey bud. What is a tech owner?
I'm want to be competitive with my Baja off-road in drag racing. What's a good clutch to use to get the rpm up fast and engage quickly. Right now, I have this slow wind before I reach peak rpm
Awesome. All depends on the engine. All engines have a peak RPM range they like. What engine are you running?
@CrucialRC OBR 32 reed. Also, what kind of fuel is best. I know you're not going to give up all your secrets, but I'm really trying to be competitive and learn as much as possible.

could you do a video on how to install and set up the two speed in the MCD
Sorry, I don't run the 2 speed on any of my MCD cars.

Which clutch should I use for 30.5 CY ? Im trying to to get the most out of this engine on my Baja
What's your plans with it? If just bashing go with a 8000 zen or cy stock clutch.
Ok i haven’t changed anything the clutch in stock but I might put up the zen clutch on , im just trying to get my take off faster i have different gears already and a pipe but im missing something i think lol
You could try the 9500 spring and see how she likes it. It may a bit high for a 30.5 but try it out. What gearing are you pulling with that car?
20/54 and A v2 dominator pipe and 990carb
That's pretty high of a gear. I would drop that down to an 18
Does a 52 diameter shoe will work ?
Not with a 54mm clutch bell.
@@CrucialRC im trying to understand, clutch bell 54 mm and shoe 54 mm how they fit If there is same diameter? The shoe doesnt need to be smaller?
Yes the shoe measured at 52.3mm and the clutch bell measures at 54mm. But when you purchase from the store the clutch is a 54mm clutch.
