In a research it showed that women with this long nails have poop bacteria in those nails. It grossed me out instantly because I knew of this research.
Thank you so much for actually showing the removal of visible cuticles/dead skin! I've watched so many videos where people who already have perfect cuticles demonstrate how to use cuticle removers and then they always say DON'T CUT YOUR SKIN, and that doesn't help me at all, because I have a lot of "flappy" skin after pushing back my cuticles, just like yours, and I never knew how to safely remove that because every other video just says don't cut it, but it looks so bad if I don't.
doctors caution against cutting cuticles because you could accidentally cut living skin creating a bleeding wound. That wound is what would then potentially let in harmful bacteria, which is why we wear bandages and/or our body creates a scab as a shield to keep them out.
@@abetweene The cuticle is not living skin, though. The cuticle is the paper-thin dead skin that grows slowly over the nail, the stuff that can be scraped off. The proximal nail fold is the living skin that can bleed, which can become thick over time and also start to stretch over the nail. This is a super common misconception.
yes. my statement encompasses the ability when holding sharp instruments to slip & unintentionally cut ANY surrounding skin including the proximal and lateral folds. when cutting the cuticle (though dead) youre still in close proximity to living tissue. physicans recommend pushing back because theyd rather you not take the risk.

I’ve been giving myself manicures for years and I love getting rid of the dead skin off the cuticle. I like a clean look. I can bet that I’ve been to the salon less than ten times in my life. Whenever I have gone, I can always see something they missed and I think to myself “ I can do better”. Lol I even have all my own SNS supplies! Well done - I enjoy all your videos! Gonna give that sugaring a try.
Same! I‘ve always felt like I could have done a better job on my nails! That’s why I’ve also gone less than 10 times. It is just not worth it. At this point, I’d only be willing to spend my money on someone who would do difficult nail art, and that would probably just be a one time thing too haha

I would very quickly cut into skin that had feeling in it. Based on your description of translucency, I don't think I have much cuticle.
I have the same nail type. on the lateral side of my nail bed, they do get dry and I bite it sometimes lol. Keeping the nail edges moist helps so much to keep it intact. I don't have to push back or cut my cuticles really but I do notice it on my husband's big toenail.
If you don't have, don't touch. Same here and I don't do anything to them :) Also they say, the more you cut them the more they will grow so you'll have to always care for them. Cuticles are there to protect the skin from infections so unless you need to touch them and you're very expert, better not mess with them.
I never visit nail saloons because they are expensive AF and where I live at least, they do really bad job. And I love the look of manicured hands; I feel incomplete without my manicure XD

I do because when I don’t and they overgrow I get a lot of hangnails that really hurt and bleed. For the longest time (since childhood) I always wondered why I would get so many and for me, cuticles were the answer
Hello, thank you so much for all your tips!! You have beautiful nails and such a lovely voice 😍 Question: starting out on the nail growth journey is it more important to get shape or length? I lost length trying to get the right shape and now they are starting to grow nicely, but I got a split…😣 Thank you 🥰💖💖
thats all personal preference. If you’d prefer shape, be mindful of the way and what tools you use to file your nails. High grit files can shred the layers of the nail causing more peeling and splits. If youre doing your best but still have issues, you could try wearing an overlay of acrylic, gel, or polygel for added strength and security.
my habit is picking the skin around my fingernails and i believe half of the reason js because of poor nail care so i want the area to be perfectly flat. I watch these videos so i can learn to take care of my hands properly.. it looks very satisfying and refreshing
This is so helpful! I've tried so many salons and they always cut my cuticles too far and make them bleed. I'll try this at home. Hello, thank you so much for all your tips!!
You have beautiful nails and such a lovely voice 😍
Question: starting out on the nail growth journey is it more important to get shape or length?
I lost length trying to get the right shape and now they are starting to grow nicely, but I got a split…😣
Thank you 🥰💖💖
thats all personal preference. If you’d prefer shape, be mindful of the way and what tools you use to file your nails. High grit files can shred the layers of the nail causing more peeling and splits. If youre doing your best but still have issues, you could try wearing an overlay of acrylic, gel, or polygel for added strength and security.
Thanks ☺️
you’re welcome
So this is what people mean when they say they ‘cut back’ their cuticles. I didn’t think this is what they meant
lol
Hey can you do a video for the people that struggle to polish their toenails neatly
sure!
Yes I would love that! I'll do my own nails but my toes I will go to a salon quickly!
my habit is picking the skin around my fingernails and i believe half of the reason js because of poor nail care so i want the area to be perfectly flat. I watch these videos so i can learn to take care of my hands properly.. it looks very satisfying and refreshing
I really enjoy your videos during this quarantine ❤️
Absolutely incredible tutorial. Thank you so much for showing the *actual* before and after. So so so so good.
ty!
This is so helpful! I've tried so many salons and they always cut my cuticles too far and make them bleed. I'll try this at home. Kinda gross to watch the skin peel up/to see it (not just on you specifically, just in general)....but I can't stop watching! Hahahaha. Great video, will watch more/subscribe to your channel!
happy to help
Totally want some of that mineral peel. Anyone here got any UK dupes or recommendations for something similar ☺️?
Helen Goodyear the cnd cuticle remover works really well!
This video actually helped me studying nail anatomy somehow.
I can’t afford the nail salon anymore so this video is a huge help. Appreciate you🥰
I always look forward to your videos as its really calming/soothing. 🤗 Stay safe and thanks for uploading!
