I mix a teaspoon of olive oil, a few drops of lemon, and then about a teaspoon of salt, mix together and then gently scrub my nails/cuticles and hands. This perfectly removes cuticles as you rub it around the base of the nail and the cuticle easily pushes up.
I just started doing my own nails again for the first time in many many years and I STRUGGLE with trimming my cuticles well without them looking like they went through a blender, after. For some reason, it's impossible for me to clip away the dead stuff without accidentally clipping other stuff with the back end of the clipper, at the same time. I don't get it. they literally end up more torn up than they were by the time I finish
Practice makes perfect! Make sure your cuticle nippers (please do not use low quality ones with thick blunt blades) are angled in the right direction and as Eman shared below, trim in a straight line and do not overcut. Don't forget to moisturize your cuticles as well after! 💕
if it bleeds, you are *not* cutting your "cuticle". You are cutting you *Eponychium.* The cuticle is the dead skin on the surface of your nail plate, while the Eponychium is the living skin covering the matrix, as well as the lunua (when the lunua is too short)
I've heard not to cut/snip of the eponychium its that line across the nail, it's what protects your nails from infections and bad stuff, you must keep it that is not the cuticle.
Thanks for this lovely video. :) I am just wondering how to use my weaker hand to do my right hand. Using my stronger hand to do the weaker hand is easy but not the other way round.
Might cover this in another future video!! As a quick tip - keep your left hand supported (on a table / book) then move your right hand instead for better control 😊
When I cut my cuticles it kinda leaves ridges in my skin but it doesn’t hurt (shows quite visibly where it’s been cut). Does that mean I’ve cut them too much?
Thank you 🌹 Depending on which cuticle remover you use, the one that I am using does not require soaking as it instantly softens the cuticle. However, if you are not using cuticle remover, you can soak your hands for 5 minutes before starting to push them ☺️
Yes! You can also soak your fingers in water for about 5 minutes before you try to push your cuticles ☺️ if they are not budging, you can soak them for a little more ~
I can do the pushing just not the trimming. I can't do it. I was cut pretty bad on my first paid for maincure. Then again on my second trip to a different salon. And I'll be darned if my theid trip wasn't perfect. So I had hope. Next trip, I was cut. I haven't paid for a mani/pedi since.
i'm a nail tech student 1st year and i really struggle with cutting the cuticles do you guys have any tips how to improve T..T this is really upsetting me forreal...it feels like other students in my class are doing it better than me..
Eponychium should never be cut because it will grow back thicker and tougher, almost like scar tissue, as it is trying to protect itself from the nippers.
@@-mikeyymoo- you are here to only spread hate instead of information. Take your degree and make your own videos. You are helping no one by being negative.
You are pushing back living folding skin. That isn’t cuticles. Cuticles are the white dead skin around the edge of your nails when you push back the living folding skin. You could google this.
!!!THIS IS MISINFORMATION!!! What you were nipping is *not* something called a "live cuticle". You were cutting your eponychium, which is !!!LIVE SKIN!!! There is no such thing as a live cuticle, or "cuticle pocket" ! ! Please do not cut that living skin, it is a medical procedure, and you, as a "nail tech" should know this! I did myself for the first time but why does it hurt like tingling…? when my hands in contact with water after I done them. Am I doing it wrong? Also, how to get rid of the dry skin between the nails I have a lot of them 🥲
Hello Kinder!! It sounds like you nipped too much and nipped into your live skin!! I hope you did not buy cheap nippers as it would have made it worse :( Be sure to clean your wounds properly and let them heal before you nip again (approx 2-3 weeks on average)~ If you are referring to the dry skin on the side of your nail, you can use the cuticle softener to soften it and push it out. But if you are talking about calluses on the finger by the nail, you can moisturize and exfoliate to slowly get rid of them ☺️

Yes! Try taking smaller cuts and moving your nippers as you take those small cuts!
@@ASIANWOES gotcha! Thank you ☺️
No problem at all! 😊
Great info for a nail care heathen. Are there any tricks for when you have to use your non-dominant hand?
Good morning, taking time to say thank you for the walk-through. Do you need to soak your nails before the cuticle remover?
Thank you 🌹 Depending on which cuticle remover you use, the one that I am using does not require soaking as it instantly softens the cuticle. However, if you are not using cuticle remover, you can soak your hands for 5 minutes before starting to push them ☺️
Can you do this without using the cuticle remover liquid? 🤔 thanks 🙏 Great video xx

What does the liquid do?
What is the music you play
This is amazing
You should never cut the proximal nail fold. Only use oil or cream

Hi
Eponychium should never be cut because it will grow back thicker and tougher, almost like scar tissue, as it is trying to protect itself from the nippers.
And that’s right!! Don’t nip too deep friends!
@@ASIANWOES you're so dumb.. don't nip at ALL
@@-mikeyymoo- you are here to only spread hate instead of information. Take your degree and make your own videos. You are helping no one by being negative.
Tha is not true.
You should only leave BlueCross cuticle remover on for a minute or two and rinse your nails in water. You should not put it on your fingertips 😪
You are pushing back living folding skin. That isn’t cuticles. Cuticles are the white dead skin around the edge of your nails when you push back the living folding skin. You could google this.
am i the only one who is really scared to do this because it looks painful :(
Don't cut your cuticles yourself if you feel scared! Clipping and filing is not painful, and it will still give your nails a nice shape. I promise! 😁
because what she did IS painful. she was cutting her LIVE skin.
The worst part is when you need to do your dominant hand🥲
YES ......... I take 3x the time. 😐
Singaporean ah
Ya la then 😂😂
@@ASIANWOES AHAHAHAHAH can buy the stuff from Shopee or not or must go those shop and buy the supplies
You want is can - but cannot expect salon quality 😅
Then u can make tiktok and do dis my shopee haul
But you are not meant to cut the skin around the nail like that, that's not cuticle you're cutting, it's the skin around the nail! 🤷
FR! it's the eponychium! she clearly passed cosmetology with a 75.. bare minimum.
