    • @jeredrobinson27
      @jeredrobinson27 Год назад +2

      Great question. So in theory, you don't want to spend unless you know it will sell. For example, your pictures could be not very good, or you are priced to high, or maybe your listing is just confusing... If you are start paying for traffic, and that is an issue, then you will lose money.. However... Payjng for traffic is the fastest way to get data. So instead of sitting around and seeing if someone will buy, you can put some money behind it and force people to look. Then you will know much quicker if you need to tweek or not.
      If you are ok to "buy" data then just do one listing at a time with about $5 till you pay over the value of your product🤙

    Great video. And what about favorites, should we advertise them also?

    • @growmyetsyshop
      @growmyetsyshop  Год назад

      That is actually the first time I have been asked that. So "sales" is by far the best indicator that something is working for you. Favorites or "add to carts" is another another, however, they are not perfect. Favorites could still mean that something is off with your buyers experience. BUT.. Its better than nothing. If you see a listing getting a lot favorites without sales, I would first move that listing to the "feature" section of your shop and then work a small budget to ONLY that listing. See if you are getting some momentum (as in sales). If not, re-work that listing. It's close, but if people aren't buying there is something turning them off. I would say that most of the time its not the picture, but instead confusion. Try to make your listing as simple as possible, play with price and see if it sticks!
      Good luck to you!
      - Jered

    Hello, great video. I have one ad going, which has brought me about 10 sales a day from ads. Once I try to include another product to advertise it’s goes to literally zero sales from ads even though my conversion rate is 9.5-14 in a super saturated product. Now, I took off the other one and can’t get even one sale on the product that was getting 10. I’ll also add everyday it’s still getting 5 star reviews. I have no idea what to do. My store was getting so good then now barely nothing. Just because I tried to add more ads.

    • @jeredrobinson27
      @jeredrobinson27 Год назад +2

      There is just a higher risk that you are "boosting" something that has not been proven to sell. Keep in mind, ads do not give you sales. People do. So promoting things that are selling or have sold help give you confidence that people are actually interested in your product. Once you know there is an interest, then all you need is eye balls on the product to scale it.
      If you want to run ads to boost an unproven product, you could figure out the "interest" level faster, but it could leave to wasted money as well.
      But if your mindset is "I'm buying data" then it's money well spent!

    @goilo888 Год назад

    Helpful. One question though. You mentioned about spending $50+ in advertising for a $50 item, but if you’re only making $10 profit on that item then you need to sell FIVE in order to break even from the cost of advertising. Or do you mean spend advertising $ equal to the PROFIT of an item? So in this case it would be $10.

    • @growmyetsyshop
      @growmyetsyshop  Год назад +1

      So this is when testing new products.. You want to spend 2-3x the market price before turning off. This is because etsy gets smarter the more information it gets. So turning something off because you lost money may actually cost you more money over a longer period kf time.
      Also - I know this was an example, but just to be clear, if you're only making $10 from a $50 product, you do not have the right margins to run ads 👍

      Depends on how new you are. When you're starting out, sales and reviews are the most important thing you can get. If you want long term growth, I would invest in those two things. If ads get sales but arent making money yet, I would still invest to help build my cred up with etsy. If you are getting no sales, or very little from ads then its not worth the investment!

For example, if you are priced too high, then chances are you wont sell when compared to others. If you pay for traffic and no one buys, then you are losing money.. but when people buy from you organically, that helps show that you are set up all right! However.. if you feel like you KNOW this product will sell ( but it just hasnt yet) , and you think it just need eyes on it.. and your willing to take the risk.. then go for it! • @growmyetsyshop
      @growmyetsyshop  Год назад

      Hey! So I would say this advise is for evergreen items. Not one off items.
      If your item is evergreen, but very niched, you most likely wont be able to spend the full budget anyways. If there isnt enough traffic to your keywords then it just wont spend the budget.
      A good piece of advice I can give you that might work is to duplicate your listing and make it have VERY specific tags (like you dont need to fill it all the way up with the 13) just very strong keywords. Then run that listing on your ads. By giving etsy less to work with, it will be very direct on where it places your ad.
      If you do this, even with a high budget, etsy will spend only when it can which is hopefully only when you need it!

    Also, if Etsy doesn't spend our ad money, throwing more money at it isn't going to work. My highest item is $135. I ran $2/day for a month to see what would happen. Views went up, but not consistently. Several days of full ad spend and the same amount of NOTHING SPENT (and not due to Shabbat or holidays, which I figured in when I planned the ad run timeframe).
    What I thought would be a $60+ ad bill, came out to $28 and change. I made two sales, but they were returning clients, so not counted.
    I did get a couple of email list sign ups (they got a 20% off coupon, but never used them), so not a total loss.
    I figure ads are like casino gambling; just drive by and throw what money you can afford to lose, out the window.

      This is correct. If etsy isn't spending the whole amount, this can mean a few things
      1. There isn't enough search volume for your budget
      2. Other shops are winning that ad spot from you.
      3. Etsy needs more data or doesn't know what you sell yet.. Therefore they don't spend the full budget to save you from being mad with zero sales.
      The solution to problem 3 is lower the budget till it is spending the full amount.. And then increase it slowly from there

      Here is what will happen.. Etsy will either stop spending/showing your ad (because they don't know where to show it) or you will see new keywords or phrases start to pop up..or all your impressions will come from just the one keyword (which means you will get some spend but not all).
      When it was first coming out it would say that it was feedback. We now don't see that message and can actually see spend stop for stuff.
