    I'm a commercial photographer (but also ceramic maker, artist on the side thinking of expanding into Etsy). Years ago, when I first left my publishing job to shoot full time I had a mailer printed. This was before I earned any money from photography. It cost me a couple of grand and then maybe a thousand for mailing. It was paid back in one job so I agree that paying for ads or paying for marketing works---if the product you have is something the marketplace finds to have value.

    Great video. question for you about turning off ads. My breakeven ROAs is 3x and many of my mugs are below 3 (~ 2-2.5) so i was going to turn off those mug ads. but..i have just as many sales organically as i do with ads. if i factor those organic sales in with the ad sales, that then puts me over 3. are my organic sales higher because of those ads? Is that a good way to think about it? what would you do about turning off those mug ads? thanks for the help.

    Just a reminder, Etsy doesn't allow new shops to advertise. A store must be open for an estimated 10 days to 4 weeks depending on the shop in order to advertise. It's in their training video. I run 2 successful Etsy stores and plan to open 2 more. I've been hired to open Etsy stores for other people, and the same happens with them.

    Ads never were profitable for me. I would make sales through my ads but i live in Poland where I have to pay 23% VAT on every penny spent on ads, plus on all the fees... It's just too expensive. After fine tuning my ads & products I was able to basically break even or get a very small profit but sale volume didn't increase much and I don't want to increase my prices because they're already on the high end as it is.

      Got same results with my etsy ads. It cost me $137 to make $200 in sales. To me that does not worth it. It seems like these guys are just paid to push others to pay for etsy ads.

    Hi! I just wanted to let you know after I watched one of your videos about ads I decided to try it because I was not getting any views, but maybe one a day. Also, the only sales I had was from family. I have not told that many people about my store except for about 4. In the past I was reluctant to do ads because I had heard to wait until you are getting sales. Well I just tried it on 2 listings and a dollar a day and I’m happy to say I got a sale from a stranger!! So I will be doing ads to get some traffic and hopefully some reviews out of it.

    The only few sales I made from Etsy came from organic views came from single random people that were looking specifically for my products occasionally.
    Yet I'm still trying ads (1 to 3 dollars a day to look for data).
    And I've learned that it's useless to have many views if they are not relevant to the product.
    Also in 2024 it's very hard to rank organically.
    But even if I niche down and I rank in the first page, if niche is too strict very few people are gonna buy the product.
    I also tested eBay and I made some good organic sales from nowhere of the same products (posters) I was trying to market on Etsy with no results.
    Yet I don't want to give up because if I have sold a few products organically it means my items do have a market, even little, and it's worth to spend some money in ads to start with to market them as I can.

    I am so overwhelmed trying to learn this stuff. Wife and I love books so I thought book would be a good niche. But that's very broad. So I focused some designs on one particular book. But is that too narrow? I don't really know. I watch 5 billion videos a day and still not entirely sure what I am doing :(

    When it comes to Ads, doesn’t Etsy charge us for the “clicks”, even if people don’t buy a product. It’s kind of confusing and a little concerning if that’s the case.

    • @brandcreators
      @brandcreators  6 месяцев назад

      Paying per click is how most only ads work. You're only charged when someone is interested enough to click on the ad and visit the listing. That's a good thing!
      If you're not converting those people, it means You're not meeting customer expectations or have an issue with your listing

    • @brandcreators
      @brandcreators  7 месяцев назад +2

      You would need to look at where the clicks are coming from. Are the clicks relevant to what you are selling? If not that's your problem. If they are, it's most likely to be your images and description arent' giving buyers what they need to make the purchase.
