Wuhan is my least favourite city in china. It is the city where fentanyl is produced and kills thousands every year. The spineless politicians do nothing and even encourage the fentanyl chemists to carry on producing the drug. While on the outside wuhan may look lovely, the real city is horrible.

Wuhan is actually not close from Nanjing, the distance between two cities is around 600km, like from Berlin to Amsterdam. The reason you feel it close it's thanks to China's high speed rail system, allows you to travel 600km in three hours.

The pandemic outbreak occurred right before the biggest Chinese festival of family reunion, which has the largest population movement, and in the inland hub city with the highest transportation volume, all for the sake of causing the greatest damage. This is all too coincidental, therefore, considering the visits of foreign soldiers to that place that had just ended at that time, it is reasonable for the Chinese people to suspect that the pandemic may have originated from the sabotage of hostile countries based on the beneficiary suspicion theory.

The Yellow Crane Tower is not a temple but a military watch tower to watch the river navy formation/training in the ancient times almost 2000 years ago, and it was at the outer-most location on the river. It is not the original but a replacement. The original one was 3 story, it was demolished to make way to for the first bridge in the 1950s by the Soviet engineers (they built half-way because Soviet-China split). The replacement tower is 5 stories, and built not as close to the river.

Wuhan is a carefully chosen target, which is the transportation center of the nine surrounding provinces (31 provinces in China), so the virus or biological attack on Wuhan can spread to the whole country as quickly as possible. I think you can understand that.

Why infamous? The Chinese people think it is a heroic city because of its sacrifice of its people. They were not only brave to face the pandemic but also saved time for the country to control the virus. China was in fact defeated the virus in 2020-2021. With minimal loss of lives. Sadly the rest of the world simply couldn’t handle the pandemic and eventually the virus came back to China in 2022 from outside of China. Luckily the virus became a lot weaker.

Both Chicago and Wuhan have no seaports but major river ports. The European building were similar to those of Shanghai. Second Opium War 1858 Tianjin Treaty permitted invaders to occupy some districts in Shanghai and Wuhan. The river from Shanghai leads to Wuhan which was the second biggest trading hub with a million people. There were British, Russian, French, and Belgium districts, Japanese came later. The building might be nice but not a glorious part of history.

@michaellee5864 Depends on what you consider "civilization." The United Stated was founded 247 years ago, the average Chinese dynasty has lasted 250 yrs, it's current system is only 74 years old. China had many amazing dynasty's, with great cultural and technological advances, which was mostly destroyed. Now the CCP controls every aspect of their lives since 1949. America definitely has it's flaws, most exists because our diversity has been a far greater challenge than expected, and attempts to force and embrace more has created even greater problems. And yes, as partisan as our government can be, at no time since our founding has our government caused 80 million to die from unnatural deaths, or become "disappeared" for some "Great Leap Forward."

In fact the name Wuhan appeared in 1927, it was group by Hankou Hanyang Wuchang. Before that, Hankou was already a very prosperous commercial city behind Shanghai. As an inland port city, Hankou's trade volume exceeded that of the port city Tianjin for many years in the late Qing Dynasty, and the data of Wuchang and Hanyang were not included. At that time, Russian enterprises made brick tea in Hankou and exported it to Amsterdam and Antwerp by direct voyage on the Yangtze River.

China doesn't pull out any company if the Company doesn't break the Chinese law or do anything against China. I thought the US should do the same thing but it didn't.

Wuhan was created from three cities - Wuchang, Hanyang and Hankou. The last one was known in the West as Hankow. It is on the Yangtze (Chang Jiang) and is navigable from the sea. In the 1920s and 1930s the US Navy patrolled the river to protect US interests.

Nice video, Kaja! If you want to bump into foreigners in Wuhan, go to the "Wuhan Silicon Valley". That is the center of universities in Wuhan. There are tons of foreign students and teachers there. But this is summer vacation time right now...... they may be back to their home countries or scattered all over China for enjoyments.

Wow, just saw your video and I stayed in the same hotel you did back in December'23.
Got a friend took us around, 1.5yuan for the ferry that takes us to the other side, how cheap is that eh
Compared to the other cities, I find Wuhan one of the cheapest. My hotel room was around $30AUD per night.
Food feels cheaper than Guangzhou, Shanghai for sure and also Beijing.
    Will definitely go again.
